I really hate the fact that so much of Alicia Keys's songs have rented out unwanted head space in my mind. I feel like songs like those from her would make good Rhythm Heaven custom remix material, but I sucked at making Rhythm Heaven custom remixes back then.
I am not a music theory expert, but I still have to wonder why her songs really want to make you remember (and break out into singing) them beat to beat like that. Does anyone think some of her songs are too overrated?
"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."Her earlier stuff is fine, but ever since "No One" they just got boring.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Fitting, as I think "No One" was the turning point in which her songs became massive Ear Worm bait. For a long time I thought the chorus was "No More" instead of "No One".

"Some people are damaged. Some people are really damaged. And then... some people are broken."I recently discovered the Genius website, and at first I thought it was a fun place to argue over the meaning of song lyrics, but then I saw that it only allows one interpretation at a time. That's weird, songs can have multiple interpretations. I wish there was a website where multiple interpretations can be added.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I don't know how active it still is, but songmeanings.com is a little more like what you're describing.
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.So any fans of Glory Hammer , their fired singer seems to have started up a new but presumably legally distinct band in the same genreAngus McSix.
Who've released their debut song "Master Of The Universe" with the music video as above.
I couldn't see a better thread to post this so hopefully it's okay here.
Glad to see we have this decade's own Rhapsody.
wasn't he sleeping with underage girls a bunch
Along with Gloryhammer in general having been run by racist creeps

The opening bass line in Pink Floyd's "Let There Be More Light" is so cool.
Hey.Ozzy Osborne cancels all 2023 shows, says he's not physically capable of touring anymore.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Holy shit. That took longer than anyone thought it would.
Still failing at playing this. It doesn't even look that hard (it's just the first part). But the key signature is just so weird on piano...
fun fact: pro tip: breaking news: life hack: i can't find a good signatureAre TV show themes talked about on here, or elsewhere?
Might put this on Sleigh Bells fridge brilliance page but it feels like kind of a stretch even for that - "Locust Laced" includes the line "send me an angel of death", which started seeming like a mashup of Real Life ("Send Me An Angel") and Slayer ("Angel of Death"). Could be a coincidence, but I feel like the band reasonably could be inferred to be influenced by both Synth-Pop and Thrash Metal from the 80s.
I used to have a CD called Uncut: Acid Daze (apparently it was called that because it originally came with a music magazine called Uncut - I just found it in a slim cd-r case at a goodwill), which was a compilation of 60s and 70s British psychedelia - the last listed track was Donovan - Atlantis, but after a few minutes of silence, there was the first few seconds of "Fire" as a Hidden Track - just the first few seconds used as an audio jumpscare (Another, less famous, Arthur Brown track, "Spontaneous Apple Creation" was in the main track-list).

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.I got into Nirvana recently. Have yet to listen to their first album but both Nevermind and In Utero are awesome, though I prefer In Utero. Heart Shaped Box is a masterpiece and by far my favorite track of their’s. Something about In Utero’s more depressive tone just appeals to me. I love music but I just have trouble expanding my horizons past what I hear passively elsewhere (hence why video game music makes up so much of the music I listen to).
Why waste time when you can see the last sunset last?I also prefer In Utero, even if I have to agree that Nevermind is pretty much as good as its reputation suggests.
made this meme randomly yesterday
I saw discussion of the Beetles's imagine song over in On Topic conversations and I realized I've never actually heard it,but did make me think of another song
(this one is probably better to be honest]]
New theme music also a boxHas anyone ever actually listened to A Flock Of Seagulls's other songs?
New theme music also a boxI prefer "Space Age Love Song" to their one hit, actually.
I hate to be a bother, and I'm not really sure if I'll even get an answer here, but does anyone here know where the best place to buy drums in the UK is, and the drum kits with the most bang for your buck are? I'm after learning a musical instrument, and drums just sounded like my kind of thing, but I need to find one for less than £300, because I don't really have much money to spare. At this point in time, I can only really consider beginner ones, but some of the better higher-end ones would be nice to know about as well, even if I can only stare longingly at a store page for them online.
Surrounded by bookshelves, that's where I'd like to be. He/him.
Curiously, for some time, I got stuck hearing "Elenore" from The Turtles, but curiously the best cover of the song was made by Flo & Eddie... who where two members of The Turtles that had to remake the song as long as they cannot play as The Turtles anymore...
Now my ears revisiting, Terry Jacks´s Seasons in the Sun, a wonderful song about saying the last goodbyes to everyone... the best Canadian song to put in a Mexican Death Shrine...
Maybe this deserves its own thread, but what's the strangest or most unlikely guest appearance on a song? Marianne Faithful on Metallica's The Memory Remains probably qualifies (even though all she does is chant). One could also argue Slash and Wolfgang Van Halen on I'm Just Ken.
x4 I was playing Katamari Damacy a lot at some point, and great as the soundtrack is it had started getting repetitive, and I thought it would be interesting to see if I could change the mood of the game I guess - went into the settings, turned the music down, kept the sound effects up, and put a Slayer album on. The reason the sound effects stayed on was for Black Comedy - in the canon of the game, when you roll over people in your ball, they're apparently fine, but the soundtrack still has them screaming - changing the soundtrack to thrash metal kinda makes that hit different.
