To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

Well, that’d be jus’ a waste. Why would ya want to deprive the world of such anomaly as yourself? The popularity of sports that have significant risks of head trauma, most notably football but also to a lesser extent soccer and hockey, is at risk due to insurance companies increasingly refusing to cover those injuries, since that means leagues (most notably youth ones) can't operate.

Peace is the only battle worth waging."Despite its name, Worcestershire sauce was originally an Indian recipe, brought back to Britain by Lord Marcus Sandys, ex-Governor of Bengal. One day in 1835, Sandys appeared in a prospering chemist's emporium in Worcestershire, England, and asked the chemist to create a batch of sauce from his recipe."

"Leftover items still have value!"A social media manager for the Cleveland Browns tried to show off the team's social media presence and wound up accidentally broadcasting a wall of porn tweets for a good 20 minutes. I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!Pepsi once aired a commercial saying it would sell the winner a whole jet for 7 million codes. A teenager who was very adept at business tactics discovered an easier way to get it and sent in 15 codes with the rest in finances, but Pepsi replied that the jet was only meant to be a joke for the sake of embellishment in the commercial. Because he already promised five investors with the money, this went to court and found that in no way did the commercial make it clear that selling the jet was a joke. Whoops.
Oof.
I knew that the titular character of I. M. Meen was voiced by Peter Berkrot, but I found out just now that Ophelia Chill from the sequel Chill Manor was voiced by Chloe Leamon, who has a very small resume on IMDb.

Even though I thought she died years ago, apparently Martin Luther King's sister is still alive. And sadly, Martin Luther King's younger brother died a year after him. From the sounds of it, it might have been from the stress of losing his brother. Also King's younger brother children have died young as well. I am kind of happy she is still alive, but sad that she outlived both of her brothers. It again makes one realize we still have people who lived during segregation today. On the other hand, it again makes me sad that they are getting older and older.
