^ Possibly since a lot of people didn't have a Sega CD. I had it for the PC when I was a kid - found it at random at a computer expo or something - but besides the people who played it (and know how awesome it is), it doesn't come up much.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well, the Amy in Sonic CD is vastly different of the modern one. I mean back then she was only a pink hedgehog Damsel in Distress and nothing more. Also I think they used to call her Rosy.
Amy quickly started exercising after Sonic CD as she developed a stalkery Rescue Romance and wanted to catch up to Sonic. This sudden agressive pursuing is what scares Sonic about her, since she used to be nicer. No one knows where she got the hammer from.
Sonic hates SOPAThe thing is, all of the characters that were staples of the nintendo handheld pentet were received well as being different, useful and original. This means the original trio, Amy, Cream and Blaze.
Even Emerl/Gmel would probably be well received.
Not that I'm saying any of them should or could be in this game, just reminding that as far as "sonic's friends" go, none of these were problems.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyWell, depends on how much you mean when say "none of them were problems."
Nothing againts Amy myself, mind you. And Cream is completely broken in the Advance trilogy. She just has an ear grating voice. Can't say anything about Blaze, cept that as far as felines go, I'll take the one with pyrokinesis and a brain than the overweight mentally dysfunctinoal one who'se existance is only because Sega wanted to utilize the fishing rod controller for the Dreamcast in Sonic Adventure. Though apparently Sonic Chronicles rescued him from the scrappy heap.
Emerl... Well, is he dead? Was he reconstructed and reprogrammed by Eggman? Otherwise, he was a robot who can copy anything he lays his eyes on, which is actually kinda cool. God help us if he started watching Shonen Anime. Of the planet destroying ki attack type.
Aaaaaanyhow... On topic with Sonic 4... So bosses decide to up it a notch when on half health or so? I wonder how can that old ball and chain be made more menacing? Unless he starts to fling it with some profiency.

Sonic hates SOPAYeah some gameplay footage shows Eggman using it as a flail trying to crush Sonic.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! What I want to know is when she got it.
I didn't write any of that.Well, Hammerspace is obvious, but where did she get THAT from? O.o
Or is it some trait females that originate from japan are born with and it manifests at a certain age?
(Hell, the whole thing got lampshaded in Sonic X. "Don't worry, she lost her hammer, she's unarmed now. Where did she get another one???" Cue the Egg Carrier having dozens of hammers sticking out of it.)
Sonic hates SOPAI think the coolest part about Emerl was that he was such a believable character. You actually got to see him absorbing aspects of other characters' personality, and then make it his own near the end. Which just makes having to Shoot the Dog even more heartbreaking, because you watched him grow dammit.
I should really sometime go start a Sonic Battle page. After re-downloading an emulator and replaying it through, so I don't make slip ups.
Sonic hates SOPAThat would be awesome. If it weren't for classes and such, I might beat you to it.
when she got it? Sonic The Fighters / Sonic Championship.
I'm quite surprised Sonic Shuffle has a page but Sonic Battle doesnt. You should also co-link Battle to the Advance Trilogy, since it's heavily connected with Advance 3.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyDoes anyone know when Battle takes place? It's after SA 2, but Shadow appears to have his memories ("That was for Maria") whereas in the console games, he never gets his memories back fully and indeed abandons his connection to them (and Maria, sadly) after SHTH.
I have a message from another time...Probably between Heroes and Shadow. He didn't really need his memories during Battle beyond what he already had at the beginning of SA 2.
You could also argue after Shadow, and giving Emerl his emerald is his way of casting off the last bits of his past, but that's admittedly Fan Wank.

between heroes and shadow (it was released a few days before heroes, I think), and between advance 2 and 3
The sad, REAL American dichotomySonic Battle really seems underrated to me. Sure it wasn't too well balanced but probably had the best writing I'd seen in a Sonic game (not hard mind) til Chronicles. It was interesting watching Emerl develop as a character, and the different ways he interacted with everyone.
Three words that should send shivers down the spine of anyone who played it: INITIATING RECOVERY MODE.
Man the tiers in that game. Two tiers in particular are such outliers that it basically becomes:
- Emerl at the end of the game !
- A couple of tiers of everyone else, depending on their healing skill
- Emerl at the beginning of the game
I wish there was some sort of online so I could show off my 3 emerl types. Angemerl, Devimerl, and Emerl * Maybe we should make a thread for the GBA Sonic quartet (battle plus the advance trilogy) the handheld story games (battle and Chronicles) or just battle itself, and start posting the cards our emerls used there?

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI still have my old Sonic Battle out there somewhere.
Honestly, once I unlocked the Super Ground Shot, the game was over. The Super Air Kick made things a lot more interesting though.
Sonic Battle was awesome. Cream's Power skills dominated the game for me, as did Sonic's Ground Shot. I did manage to snag Emerl's Ultimate Jump, as well as Gamma's Style.
The one thing I can't get, though, is Rouge's Ground Power, the kick. It just won't happen. I had a fight where all I used was thekick and Emerl wouldn't get it.
I also gave Emerl Amy's colors. ^^
The Protomen enhanced my life.We really need to give that game it's own thread or page soon.
I'm still missing 7 skills. I'd want to play it, but I have a DSi now, and my GBA is at home.
Fully charged Gamma's ground shot = 80% damage.
Fully charged Gamma's ground shot + fully charged Ichikoro meter = 180% damage.
Oneshotting everyone from across the screen = Priceless.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyfuck this. I'm giving that game it's own thread. I'll be copying my comments over to there to, if anyone wants to do the same, let me know now, so you can put them in order.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyAdd Cream's Heal under Game-Breaker for how fast it fills up the Super Gauge?
The Protomen enhanced my life.yep. Considering the star points, it was even more efficient than the ultimate heal.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyIt was either Gamma's or Chaos's that filled up your health super fast...
The Protomen enhanced my life.Gamma, but probably Chaos as well.
Your thoughts? Here's mine in six words: Goodbye score attack, hello card platforming!
