During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Josh at least sounds heinous enough on paper, what with the high body count and pedophilia, but I'm abstaining until someone more familiar with The Hohenzollern Empire weighs in, especially since there has been little to no conversation towards how prolific Josh is in that regard, or if anyone eclipses him.
In the meantime, I recommend that ~Orror SANESS ask me or any other interested parties for help regarding further effortposts.

Who is Sari Tartar? What has she done?
Appearing in 1939's "Marvel Mystery Comics", #84 to be exact, Sari Tartar hails from the Sub-Mariner (aka Namor) story "Case of the Vanishing Venuses!"
Sari is a simple one...a scarred film director who looks like the lover of Two-Face, Sari holds a sadism and disdain for beautiful people due to having what she doesn't, and decides to create her greatest film yet: involving the mass torture, enslavement and eventual murder of dozens of people just for winning beauty contests, catching public eye, etc.
As Sari lures in Namor, Namora and Betty Dean to her slave boat in the middle of the sea, she forces them to join dozens of other half-dead slaves in rowing the boat while being viciously whipped, before personally torturing all three of her victims with more whipping...Sari is eventually taken down by Namor and his ladies, and angrily tries one last time to kill them before being hauled away to the slammer, her victims saved but extremely roughed up by her abuse.
Freudian Excuse or other redeeming features?
Nada, her disfigurement could have been played for sympathy or a FE but there's nothing, we don't learn how it happened or get any real explanation from Sari except to whine how she hates beautiful people for having what she doesn't and so she enjoys torturing and working them to near-death....kay.
Heinousness?
For a random one-shot piss-all crazy lady, the enslavement and nasty torture of dozens of people just for being attractive is enough lmao

Damn, I forget how fast this forum moves. Doubt the votes are necessary now but yes to Cantliss and yes to Judge. Judge especially since it's astonishing the amount of evil she accomplishes while just being one "regular" person. Her "cause" is nothing but an excuse to cause as much death and destruction as she wants, and the closest thing she has to a redeeming quality is lusting after one of the POVs, Gunnar Broad. But even then she's only attracted to him because of his barely repressed violent nature and once they do finally sleep together she views him more as a possession than a person, with Broad having nightmares about her words, "You're mine!" Plus there's the whole, threaten him with death to get him to be a Burner.
As Lighty mentioned, any backstory she gives is implied to be fabricated as well. Every time she prompts someone with, "Know why they call me Judge?" ahe gives a radically different backstory or reason each time, and the last time she asks, she admits, "Honestly? I have no clue." I actually wondered if it was a deliberate Shout-Out to "You wanna know how I got these scars?"
