If her age isn't confirmed then I'm leaning (but not voting) keep now. Because it sounds like this skirts the pedo rule, and it was already discussed that there's enough story for it to be tropeable so it passes on the pornography part of the rule. I'm part of the party that wouldn't see any problem if it gets cut, although at this point that may have to be from someone bringing up additional points. Because this sounds very borderline, but not outright over the line, as it is right now.

Yeah, that makes sense, and was along the lines of how I interpreted it. I'm always worried I'm missing some obvious rule by not looking in the right place or am misinterpreting things, so I appreciate the clarification. Cheers!

Also, would this article benefit from being locked, then? That way it won't have any unnecessary fetish examples/wordings added to it. Just a thought, though, and I'm sure it's already been/being considered.

That's essentially how I feel, too. I apologise if I sounded hostile by the way, I really was just trying to clarify the rule (and hoping I was correct)! I think we're pretty much on the same page for this.

I wouldn't have any objections to locking it. Fortunately, to date we haven't had any edits that dive too deep into the lurid details of the content, but some of the current examples do have a bit of a hyperbolic tone.

I’ll go with keep here. I’m opposed to a lock as well; from a glance over the page, there doesn’t appear to be anything perverted, and a lock should only be used as a last resort when it comes to these sorts of issues.

Okay, I don't think I can be high and mighty and be scared of the manga's reputation.

I was willing to let it go as porn with heavy plot, but... the porn/plot ratio is too high. Yes, the tone is sad and the ending is tragic, but it's not the most depressing or unusual thing in the world.

It is supposedly be preachy by own admition, and there's an argument that you shouldn't assume a random hooker is like this by choice and don't do drugs, but it's up to interpretation. Almost entirety of it is just a girl getting sexed and pissing with silly face due to own shortcomings + time progression.

I'm leaning on cutting actually.

Okay, yeah, judging from that summary I'm changing my vote to Cut, only because it sounds like it's mostly porn. It's porn with some plot, but it's still porn, and TVT doesn't allow pornographic works to have articles, from my understanding.

Even if it's for shock value, if there's that much sex, eh.

See, this is why I was asking for more word from people who actually read the comic, haha. Again: graphic underage sex from a hentai magazine/publication.

I admit I'm more on a cynical side and may be missing something profound, so others are free to give it a shot, but disregarding the memetic reputation, we've cut works with longer stories even without the question of age because porn overwhelmed the intended narrative.

Maintaining my keep vote. Again, I personally feel that the porn is necessary for the plot.

This is pretty complicated. So if the page get cut, move it to Darth Wiki because of the porn and tragedy that came along.

  • While ShindoL sticks with his canon Downer Ending, he is open with alternative endings. During his guest appearance in Trash Taste, he's asked about the memetic JoJo's Bizarre Adventure ending, and he states that if anyone wants a happy alternate ending for Metamorphosis, they should definitely look for the JoJo ending.
  • Another Fix Fic ShindoL gave his blessing to is an (unfortunately discontinued) manga called Saki: Another Story by BREN, where the events of Metamorphosis never happened, and instead Saki is a Reclusive Mangaka who ends up befriending another loner that was once like her in school. Not out of a sudden desire to change, but out of pure chance due to her sitting in Saki's normal spot in a local internet cafe she goes to.
• Colbert Bump: The hentai nature of the manga normally means that the more mainstream anime fandom will mostly not recognize this. However, the Fix Fic featuring Josuke Higashikata ("I'm Gonna Fix That Girl Up!") opened the gates for more viewers who mostly don't read hentai... and then led to them appreciating the tragedy of Saki more than the h-scenes.
• Write What You Know: ShindoL lived in New York for several years, and based many of the things that happen to Saki in the story on actual things that he heard happened to people through news reports or word-of-mouth from people around him.

This vote is going to be difficult. And factoring in the various endings, We're in a little Morton's Fork: Keep it would potentially be a spit in our very own content policy, but cut it and we'll lose an unique Porn with Plot subject.

I'm a little late, but I've also read this, and my vote is cut. Its hentai. it may have an interesting story as well, and more plot than average, but it's very graphic and very heavy on the sex and the story is clearly secondary to the porn.

Yeah, I don't think this belongs here, and I was shocked to see it exists. It was clearly intended as porn and only somewhat accidentally became social commentary. If we're gonna have a content policy at all, this has to be outside of it.

Well, I said "additional points" would need to be brought up to make it cutworthy, and that summary sounds like a pretty good point. I was originally going to post "Heavily leaning cut, but I'd like a second opinion from someone who read the manga just to be sure" after Amonimus' summary, but now with Tremmor19's comment I'm convinced to definitely vote cut. Even if the sex is important to the story, it really comes off like the sex (for titilation's sake) was the highest priority here.

Because there was a lot of debate about whether or not the plot outweighed the porn and most of us who understandably didn't want to read it were going off second-hand info?
