It's been a few days since anyone else chipped in. Is this gonna be everyone, then?
Like I said, if people want them, fine. But there's no reason they need to be at the top of the page. Put it at the bottom where they dont have to uglify the place with a giant grey bar.
You know what? You're actually right.
Most of these pages have things like video examples separating these from the flustercluck indexes. But it only really works/doesn't look like crap when the tropes of a particular series or film are folder'd.
Not all of them will have that - especially things like One Shots and short-lived shows.
Here's a quick test of how it looks: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Series/TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier
This looks really nice.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectAlright, since no one else has chipped in for a good number of days and we have a number, should I start applying the changes, mods?
I think we should maybe wait until it meets either the crowner ratio (2:1) or if there are 5 more upvotes/agreements than downvotes/disagreements (TLP). But idk.

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectAt this point, I think I'm going to the headers. I'm beginning to get a little sick of seeing them on the top of every page, especially since not every phase is as interconnected as others.
Trust no one.Well, I don't know if 7 and 8 is enough for consensus so maybe we should do a crowner.

Macron's notesSure
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectSure! I'm game for it.
I guess the three options should be:
- Index at the top, per Lapsem's method.
- At the bottom, per Ghilz's suggestion.
- None at all.

I know I'm coming in late to this discussion, but I'd like to vote in favour of Lapsem's index layout. As stated in the OP, TVT's own indexing system is an absolute rat's nest, and I'm of the opinion that Lapsem's headers are far more readable.
Trans rights are human rights. JK Rowling preaches hate. If you sit at a table with five bigots and say nothing, there are now six bigots. You know, maybe we should ping Lapsem themself to this thread before making the crowner.
Just to here what their thought process was in making the index in the first place.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectSorry for the wait, folks.
Regarding my placing the headers in the first place without seeking consensus: I've added similar headings for pages like Apocalypse How and Character Alignment and nobody removed them, so I thought that that meant that nobody who saw the changes I made had objected to them and were willing to let it slide. (Unless those factored into my suspension, in which case I apologize.)
Apart from Characters/ subpages, I was inspired by trope subpages for these headers. I've done the same thing for The Bible and Kamen Rider, and the former was retained while the latter was taken down.

I can't speak for everyone, but I don't think anyone here holds it against you. It's just the way you went about it, with this kind of reckless abandon. To be fair, I played my part in that as well, but as you can see, I like your idea enough to go through all this time and trouble, to do it the right way. And the next time something else pops into your mind, you now know how to address everyone about it! It may seem...bureaucratic, but TVT is still a wiki, so you need a consensus. Count your blessings that this isn't Wikipedia! That place has more red tape and procedures than the House of Commons.
Anyway, still waiting on that crowner!
Not a fan of these headers.
I believe crowner should be made by any point. Anyone have an argument for why the indexes could go at the top?
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectI'm not in 100% favor of them being on top but I can see the argument that "you can find them easier on the top" being made so there's that.
Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."Yeah, I've been waiting on that crowner for a couple of days now...
Should someone else holler it again? Though I think the mods might be busy with several other crowners atm.
Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectWell, no one hollered for a crowner to be made and I was waiting for more discussion. Either way, this isn't something that we need to settle immediately.
Macron's notesWas I supposed to holler?
I mean, you said you'd make one, so I assumed hollering wasn't really necessary...
I didn't say I was going to make one. I said that maybe a crowner is needed to gauge because someone hollered the thread. Like I said earlier, the crowner wasn't made immediately because I waited for more opinions. Anyways, I'll just make one now.

Macron's notesThere is something that I've found out regarding the end-of-page auto-index system and how ashambles it is: they're arranged by which page was most recently edited, with the newest ones at the bottom of the list. I've made this known to Kory.
