A stronger stance on AI-assisted content

i mean, if you wanna try starting a trivia TLP for "AI generation" then id say go ahead and write it up— if canvas was a brand new invention maybe we'd also have a list of paintings made on canvas, idk.

Id also wonder if theres sort of two "types" here— a regular work, that uses ai as a tool to fill in or assist the human creators, and work centered around generated content basically as a showcase (like Harry Potter and the portait of what looked like a large pile of ash), where it wouldnt really be funny if it werent ai. are they the same trivia item? or different?

This is making me think of a possible idea for some sort of trivia item akin to whatever the one for games that are basically a tech demo are: A trivia item for works that are or were meant to act primarily as a demonstration of a newatthetimeofthework technology.

Depending on how good the result is, the work might become a Dancing Bear, and it might even spawn Just Here for Godzilla. Name suggestion: Tech Demo, or (Tech)Demo Work.

Regarding Trivia item, it's a good idea and AI Generated Works can be used as a list of examples.

This feels like "Since we are a photo site we are going to tag every thing that used photoshop" levels of asinine.

Like personally I would agree with the whole, "we probably shouldn't be troping AI generated work" statement with how things are at the moment, but that's because of a fundamental disagreement with TVT policy.

Particularly "No such thing as notability"

Like I can get the intent of it, and sure we probably shouldn't be gatekeeping any work that got an official release.... but like, I also don't really feel we should be documenting the latest internet shit-post in the tropes either.

Its the kind of policy that is just going to break more and more as time goes on too, as there becomes never-endingly more content in existence.

I mean, internet "shit posts" aren't exactly tropeworthy. The rules mean that any non-porn creative narrative works are allowed, not that just anything is allowed. Not all content is creative content, and we only care about fiction.

Okay then why is AI content a concern at all at the moment then?

The only "creative works" it is being used for in any amount that can really be seen as more disruptive then "they used CGI instead of practical effects" is in twitch streams and youtube series.

Filling in background art and making an intro isn't exactly a substantial amount of the work.

I guess there could be an argument for the gatcha game that tried to use AI generated charecters since those do represent a significant amount of the content of a gatcha game, but I am not sure we even have a page for it.

The other "AI content" refers to letting AI write for the wiki, not with troping AI created works.

I don't think it's forbidden, exactly, but it's self-evidently a terrible idea, especially given that ChatGPT is notorious for making errors and can't be expected to know the ins-and-outs of this wiki.

Right now the rule is "it's not disallowed, but you're responsible for whatever goes wrong if you use it".

Oh alright. I'll keep that in mind. To throw my own 2 cents here, even if it's been said already I would also like to state that AI-generated works that meet wiki guidelines for a work page should be allowed. I'm also gonna have to agree with the idea of a page about them

Yes I know AI Generated Artwork exists, but AI generation doesn't stop at art, AI has also been used to write stories (like a work in that page or DougDoug A.I. Invasion), one could argue algorithms also count but I wanna stop myself now before I get too off topic
