Ambiguous Name: Sexy Spectacles

Sexy Spectacles has a serious misuse issue: though it's supposed to describe characters in-universe being attracted to someone because of their glasses or the work itself playing up how attractive the glasses make that character, in practice it's used as "attractive character who wears glasses".

Results of the wick check:

• Correct use: 26%
• Just a character wearing glasses: 52%
• ZCEs and random potholes: 20%
• Miscellaneous: 2%

I think that a fix would be to rename it so that it's clearer that the trope is about how the work presents the glasses, not how the audience feels about them. Sexualized Spectacles or Fetisized Frames are my suggestions.

Opened. I think Sexualized Spectacles and Fetishized Frames both sound good, though I prefer the former.

It did. We were going to tackle Sexy Spectacles on that thread buut the rename option for it did not get consensus for a rename.

It did (the discussion there is what got me to make the wick check in the first place), but got no consensus to do anything when it was on Meganekko crowner. The mods said it was okay to bring it in on its own thread.

To be fair, Sexy Spectacles was kind of a footnote in Meganekko's thread. Having a dedicated thread for it would make the process smoother.

I prefer Sexualizing Spectacles to not make is sound like the glasses themselves are meant to be attractive.

Sexualized Spectacles is good, albeit a bit too technical-sounding (but I guess that works for this trope). Hell, even Spectacles Are Sexy might be an improvement, as it refers more clearly to the phenomenon rather than the glasses themselves.

There's also Sexy People Wear Glasses, a snowclone of Smart People Wear Glasses, but that might not be clear.

Think the Glasses/Spectacles/Frame wording can be cloned interchangebly between each option?

Is it too late to suggest Glasses Are Sexy for the crowner?

I feel like "Sexy People Wear Glasses" is just..renaming the trope to fit the misuse.

Yeah, I can't imagine naming it that would do anything to stop people from thinking it's for every attractive person who wears glasses

Updated the Renamed Tropes section of Trope Epitaph to reflect the rename of Sexy Spectacles to Glasses Are Sexy.

I've cleaned the wicks and removed the 'an attractive character who happens to wear glasses' examples from the page itself. Anything else we need to do?
