Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes? thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread, as do the self-demonstrating character pages.

Seems unnecessary to me but that could just be me.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadRegarding Neptunia, I've calculated the character bytes for the Main CPUs (on my phone no less), and Neptune has a whopping 43,920 characters and 43,929 bytes on her folder, which includes her Ultradimension counterpart, making her warranted for a split. The other CPUs by comparison have 16,947 bytes (Noire), 14,944 bytes (Blanc), and 14,621 bytes (Vert).

"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIIPlus, just out of curiosity, was Characters.Deltarune Berdly consulted here before the page was made?

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ANo it was not. Is it over 40,000 bytes.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread42,524 bytes, but much like the Slow Damage pages I frequently brought up, I was wondering if there some tropes that are shoehorned, more narrative-based, or other stuff (like word cruft).

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AI could look it over when I have more free time. If anyone else wants to before I get free time, that is will

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAlrighty, I made Sandbox.Deltarune Berdly to allow for tracking.
I think I'll do the Slow Damage pages myself since no one else has done work on them. If anyone wants to help, here are the sandboxes (Sandbox.Slow Damage Towa, Sandbox.Slow Damage Takuma Murase, Sandbox.Slow Damage Maya).

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ARe: Neptunia: Zanreo or Landale, Neptune's folder at Main CPUs is over 43,920 bytes, so is it okay if I start a Sandbox page for her; most examples from her folder are still riddled with currently hidden ZCEs.
Edit: Since no one has been responding to my posts I think it's okay if I could make a sandbox and put it on the recently launched Sandbox.Toon Abby.

"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIIFor whatever reason, Wonder Woman (The Character), doesn't cover her Golden Age/Earth-2 and New 52 versions, instead redirecting to folders on Wonder Woman (1942) and Wonder Woman (2011). This doesn't feel right, considering similar pages like Superman (The Character) don't do that. Am I okay to merge the tropes in those folders back into the main page, and leave a link to it behind?
Could we potentially look towards getting a character-specific page for Yukari Takeba? I decided to do a byte count for all of the members of S.E.E.S., and this is what I came back with.
- Yukari: 45,000 bytes
- Junpei: 20,506 bytes
- Akihiko: 24,178 bytes
- Mitsuru: 22,540 bytes
- Fuuka: 12,633 bytes
- Aigis: 27,324 bytes
- Koromaru: 7,350 bytes
- Ken: 15,463 bytes
- Shinjiro: 22,202 bytes
- Metis: 6,689 bytes
Hey. Thanks for checking. The page within which that character sits is very large - 236k bytes, so unless you can think of an approach to split the page another way (which should be considered first - e.g. breaking the SEES characters into two groups), then I think the character could be split off.
The more I think about it, there's not really any easy way to split S.E.E.S. up. At the start of the game, there's only five members, being the Protagonist, Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, and Mitsuru, but things get complicated when considering that Shinjiro was a former member of S.E.E.S. before the events of the game, until he rejoins later.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve. The problem is, of those characters, only Yukari meets the byte threshold for splitting (and this is before cleaning up her folder, which should happen first). So if the main page really is that big, it should be split in two (with or without Yukari). Maybe there aren't any more natural groups to split into, to which I'd recommend splitting into two alphabetically sorted pages.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsGood plan, agreed.
The thing is that, at the moment, the members of S.E.E.S. are ordered by joining order. That's something that's consistent with all of the games past Persona 2, with the Investigation Team from 4 and the Phantom Thieves from 5 being arranged by order of when they join as opposed to alphabetical order.
Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve. Then we could split them in half that way too I suppose?
Alphabetical order wasn't like a hard-core rule, it was just a suggestion since the page looks like it'll need to be split either way.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsSounds good - a simple ‘SEES members part one’ / ‘part two’ approach definitely could work.
I think I've figured out an idea of how to split it up.
- S.E.E.S.: Redirects, General Tropes, and Metis.
- Starting Members: Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, and redirects to the Protagonist and Yukari's pages.
- The Protagonist
- Yukari Takeba
- Later Members: Fuuka, Aigis, Koromaru, Ken, and Shinjiro.
- Starting Members: Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, and redirects to the Protagonist and Yukari's pages.
I'm working on several other things, but I thought I'd note in this thread that K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country, just got his individual character page.
I'm not sure if its long enough or not? Previously the K. Rool character entry was kept on this page.
I have my doubts that it's long enough given how short the other pages for that series are.
Character Specific Page cleanupOnly coming up at 32k bytes so he needs to be merged back.
Looks good!
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsHow many words is too long for a character page, for reference?
According to what I read, a page on Tvtropes will announce it is too long in the editing box?
40,000 bytes is usually around 6,000 words. The too long limit is normally around 500,000 bytes so I'm not really sure how many words that is.

Speaking of which, I've Sandboxed all of the Prowlers onto one page here since they look a bit scattered right now.
