1.3 looks more like what I think of for this idea, but it seems kinda cluttered.
The first two seems like a general portal/teleportation trope.

I can check for a better close-up on the time crack (dammit, now I need to re-read that part of Girl Genius again 
) but I seem to remember that most of those were either mostly close-up, or came with a lot of text next to it.
Edited to add: looks like somebody added a pic without going through IP. Not a bad example actually.
