Angel Bunny was removed from the Scrappy page because literally two episodes later he's incredibly supportive of Fluttershy cheering her up and helping her with her Training from Hell Training Montage as Rainbow Dash. Following that, in Ponyville Confidential, he protects Fluttershy from the CMC's cruel rumours. Then his meanness and Jerkassitude in general was heavily downplayed in favour of making him more like a Troll type character archetype, willing to cause mischief because Spike had no true interest in looking after the pets. So yeah short answer he was HEAVILY Rescued from the Scrappy Heap but some fans think it isn't enough.

I'd say based on the fact Rainbow is literally the icon of the fandom being the Deuteragonist and arguably the most popular character in the series, she might count for Memetic Badass, but if people want it gone because it doesn't fit the tone of the trope, I'm fine with it.

Let's not conflate "the character's portrayal changed" with "the fan's opinions changed". I have no doubt Angel was rescued, but these things do need more evidence than just "he didn't act like this in another episode".

I meant people like him now because his nicer side started showing. An example a character that changed portrayal yet is still MOSTLY hated, is Snips for being a Gonk by male pony standards and being very money-grubbing in Season 9's least liked episode 2, 4, 6 Greaaaat where he literally only was in the plot to make Rainbow more of a jerk than he was, but I honestly feel that episode relies too heavily on Informed Wrongness.

Rainbow Dash is the deuteragonist? This is news to me.

I think all of the Mane 5 are of roughly-equal importance. Dash is very popular but that doesn't make her more important than Rarity, Pinkie, Fluttershy, or AJ.

Yeah, Twilight's the closest the show has to a single main character, but among the rest there most certainly isn't any one focused on enough to be called the deuteragonist.

Rainbow has no shortage of fans, but saying that she's arguably the most popular character in the series is... also maybe a little much.

I'm not sure who is the most popular character anymore. Once upon a time it was Luna. Now...I'm not sure.

This was recently added to My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic S6 E12 "Flutter Brutter":

• Strawman Has a Point: As much as Zephyr is wrong to freeload off others, he does have a right to be apprehensive about getting a job, especially since he's basically only forced to do it against his will and what he does with his life is his own business.

How? Is Zephyr too complex to qualify as a "strawman" by this definition?

"The Straw Character makes a better argument than the author intended." The example is not about Zephyr making a good argument.

But the entry does point out why his argument makes sense.

That's a stronger argument for cutting it.

But his armument isn't that it is hard to find a job. He's just not trying.

Also his argument is rather undermined by how easy it turns out to find jobs around Ponyville. This is not a universe with labour shortage, or unemployment of any sort, really.

I don’t think the argument is better than intended either.

I have posted this before on other threads but I don't get sufficient responses. The worst bits are bolded.

From MLPEG: Rollercoaster of Friendship:

• The Scrappy: Vignette Valencia has very few defenders and is seen as one of the weakest Equestria Girls villains for her shallow and annoying personality,careless endangerment of others, and poorly thought-out and executed plan. While her design was well-received, it's mostly agreed her awful personality overrides it, and she otherwise lacks the sympathy, humor, and/or coolness that made past villains more engaging. Even those who find other villains worse only "defend" Vignette due to her being so forgettable her wrongs don't stand out. Season 2 of the shorts would put her in a better light, but this was seen a too little too late and annoyed fans they brought her back over other, more popular characters.

For a Scrappy entry, that's not significantly complainy. In fact, it makes her stand out more as "a very much disliked character" as opposed to just "a character fans don't like as much," and the fact she was still disliked after she was improved means she still fits the "consistently hated" rule. Removing that entry would probably make the entry look more complainy by focusing too much on the "why she was hated" and not the "how the fandom reacted to her."

I just haven't watched anything Equestria Girls related since 2014. *shrug*

Given the lukewarm response your question is getting, I am tempted to question whether she is a scrappy at all. People seem to be more indifferent than anything else.

I feel that at least the bolded bits can go. But I have some aversion to MLP discussions for spoiler-related reasons.

We probably need to look at the Pony Life pages too. Lots of They Changed It, Now It Sucks! examples and several comparisons to Teen Titans Go.

Response among fans here has been rather lukewarm, at least. Not sure how it has been received elsewhere.

Or you could just not look at the sections of the conversation pertaining to Pony Life, as spoiler tagging a conversation about the entire show would probably be too much of a hassle. (Though I'm not sure how much is really "spoilers" — isn't it much looser in continuity?)
