"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanConsensus seems to be in favor of a transplant.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Made a crowner. There's firm consensus for a transplant, but what to do with the Extendable Arms trope name is still a bit up in the air.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThank you!
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢The option in the green has a big lead over the second one. Is it time to call the crowner?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I believe it is.
Still a little early to call.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Apologies if I seem like I'm trying to rush things, but it's been more than a week and the crowner is has nearly-completely stabilized on "change Extendable Arms to fit misuse, put old definition on new trope" by a wide margin.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Agreed, and enough time has passed now. Hollering to call crowner.
I'd like to apologize for all this. It's unanimous. Calling in favor of description change + split.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportCool. I'm going to start a sandbox to compile all the old Extendable Arms stuff before sending it to TLP, but a couple things before I do;
- Can I bring the image, or do I have to start a thread to move it (I plan on adding a second image to show the rest of the gag, by the way)?
- Would someone else be willing to draft up a new description for Extendable Arms ? That's like the one part of the TRS process I'm not good at because I can never think of anything unless I have something else to work off of.
For the first bullet point, I was going to mention that we could take that to Image Pickin', but that subforum is backlogged last I saw.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI say we keep the image for now and if it becomes an issue we go to IP.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlright, Sandbox is created. Critique and additions are appreciated.
By the way, while moving examples over I deleted them from Extendable Arms itself, so now we just need a new description.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Decided to try writing a description for Extendable Arms since I'm unable to make the Elongating Arm Gag draft. This is very first-draft, so critique, improvements, and suggestions are welcome.
Ah, Rubber Man. An interesting ability set for sure, but one that's innately wrapped into humor and comedy, making it very hard to create characters of the type meant to be taken seriously. How does one overcome this, you ask?
By limiting it to specific body parts, of course!
This character can stretch certain parts of their body outward — usually their arms, though stretchy legs and the like aren't unheard of — great distances, though how far the parts can stretch varies from character to character.
Limiting it to specific parts of their body also allows for more creative uses, as while a Rubber Man is able mold his body freely, a character with extending arms still abides by physics and the physiology of their species.
Compare Prehensile Hair. If you are looking for the Toon Physics joke, see Elongating Arm Gag. (This part would be added after that draft launches)
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢You were temporarily suspended from the TLP, right? I guess we'll have to either wait it out, or get someone else to do it.
In my opinion, I say we just focus on what we can do for now. For starters, I think the new description looks good.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Mhm. I originally mentioned it in the post, but decided against it.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢IMO it takes too long to get to the point. I'd move the analysis about seriousness and comedy lower down, and open with the second paragraph.

Decided to get rid of the comedy/serious angle since I could only work with it as an opener. How's this?
This character can stretch certain parts of their body outward — usually their arms, though stretchy legs and the like aren't unheard of — great distances, though how far the parts can stretch varies from character to character. These limbs are incredibly useful for combat or even simple practicality, as it's like having a fully controllable whip with a claw or blunt object at the end.
Related to but distinct from Rubber Man; while a rubber man is able mold and shape all of himself without much care for physics, someone with extendable limbs is limited by the limbs they're actually able to screw with, and still abide by the physiology of their species. For example, a man made of rubber can flatten and enlarge his hands to flip someone like a pancake, while someone with extending arms can only stretch them to grab at or punch something.
Compare Prehensile Hair. If you are looking for the Toon Physics joke, see Elongating Arm Gag. (This part would be added after that draft launches)
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Better. I'll see if I can come up with some more thoughts tomorrow.
TLP for Elongating Arm Gag has been created.

Suggestion, break the first sentence into two, e.g.:
Needs a "to" before "mold and shape".
Suggestion: "mold and shape all of himself" -> "mold and shape their whole body"
I'm not sure what this means.
Suggestion: "a man made of rubber can" -> "a man made of rubber might"
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Exactly. Renaming is essentially the matter of whether or not we wanna go through an extra 50~ wicks to change a four letter word to a five letter word.
