TRS found that the trope, Best Known for the Fanservice, requires some cleanup owing to e.g rape scenes being used as examples.

Well, to start, I just killed the examples about rape that did one or more of the following:

1. Presented rape as Fan Disservice (because that's not what the trope is about) 2. Presented rape as fan service (because I'm pretty sure that's not kosher around here) 3. Appeared to assume that the trope is about "anything remotely sexual that a work becomes infamous for."

I did leave the Irreversible example, because it seemed like it might fit in the very specific context given in the example, but I certainly won't feel bad if someone else chops it.

If you'll excuse me, I need to go jump in the shower/autoclave/iron foundry/volcano now, because I feel dirty just reading one of those examples.

...Well, this effort flopped, but I may as well revive it. YMMV.The Nostalgia Critic is worth a look because I doubt most of these episodes are primarily remembered for these sex jokes, and most of this is meant as Fan Disservice (and at least one example, the hickeys, is just creepily implying the actor's personal sex life is "fanservice"), but this wiki had a weird tendency to lewd TGWTG stuff back in 2010 so I suspect at least some of this is exaggerated or deliberately removed from context.

  • Best Known for the Fanservice:
    • To be as nice as possible, all people seem to remember about the "Surf Ninjas" review is either "I died for your sins" or his "GEEEEEENIUS" Shirtless Scene.
    • He acknowledged in following videos that all anyone remembered about the "Dumbest Superman Moments" is him looking pretty in eyeliner and mascara. This was later acknowledged to not be intentional, as Doug had just done a bit in makeup and forgot to leave it off, and just as many people made fun of it back then as they did consider it pretty.
    • In a non-sexual version, no matter how long it's been, no matter how many good sensible points he makes, if he has a breakdown or goes on a rant in a review then that will be all people remember of the episode.
    • From the Care Bears review, most people only remember him acting out reactions of the villain lady getting oral sex. Wrong. Most people remember "Taste the rainbow, motherfucker!" if anything.
    • Same for the long bout of sex noises in Jaws 3D, helped by the fact that Doug was doing orgasm noises for the man and the woman.
    • When the Transformers 3 and Jungle 2 Jungle reviews come up, more people will remember the giant hickeys on his neck than anything else. Like I said, this is about the actor's personal life, not fanservice.
    • Brian is totally aware that all anyone will remember of the Future's End episode is the Critic/Snob cameo where it cuts off right before Critic gives Snob a blowjob. This falls under rape because Critic is a Sex Slave, plus most people remembered Doug cameos in any other TGWTG review.
    • Angry Joe's rematch with Critic on the Marvel vs. Capcom game was fun overall, but all anyone remembers is Doug fellating his joystick. Just look at him go.
    • Again provides it in That Sci-Fi Guy's The 6th Day episode. Aside from the ending where he wants himself as a Sex Slave, when he brings up Arnold wanting to 'test' the Creepy Doll out, it cuts back from TSFG to Doug miming giving a blowjob before his “a mouth is a mouth” line. Not that the review isn't good, but it's hard to get that out of your head.
    • Another non-sexual example: his Jurassic Park reviews are known best for the "Motherfuckin' T-Rex" portions, especially Jurassic World, for bringing in John Bailey to narrate the T-Rex vs. I-Rex fight, with the T-Rex having a voice like Optimus Prime.
    • In a behind the scenes version, the Christmas Story II BTS has a lot of character stuff that clears up the episode, but for both in-universe and out, most like to focus on the part with Doug as a hot cheerleader. The "character stuff" is just jokes that people who dislike the episode scramble to use as excuses that their personal interpretation is canon, BTW. I can attest that cheerleader Doug is a popular bit from the episode with that particular section of the fanbase, though it's hinted to be a mix of both fanservice and Fan Disservice in the behind the scenes.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
