Robot Chicken is not In-Universe.
Actually, the IP discussion thread says that YMMV concepts may have threads created for them if their images are not In-Universe, except for The Scrappy and Paranoia Fuel.note I'm not sure how well this is being enforced, though.
That said, I think another part of the problem is that, as I see it, Jar Jar might be a case of Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, for two reasons:
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars lists Jar Jar as being redeemed by the audience for having other characters express annoyance at him and having him be less annoying overall and more helpful.
- There's a theory that Jar Jar was intended to be a villain but was rewritten to be comic relief and downplayed in response to audience backlash. Multiple news sources commented on the theory, with Best himself supporting it. This was apparently enough to redeem him in the eyes of many.
It might just be better to pull the image and leave it blank for now.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!See, this is why I'm so skeptical of those "Jar Jar Binks is the most famous Scrappy of all time" comments in here, because I actually do enjoy watching his character development in The Clone Wars. I never really liked Jaxxon, and I'm someone who read the comics. Besides, it's a lot safer to have a Legends character because so few of those go on to be as famous note as ones like Jar Jar. And, when it comes to Star Wars, the more well-known an aspect is, the more controversial we risk it becoming.

/ Neither our own pages nor That Other Wiki give any indication that Jar Jar has somehow been "rescued" into being well-liked. I'd say that personally liking a Scrappy doesn't make him any less The Scrappy.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!YMMV.Star Wars The Clone Wars does.
I think he might also be an on-page example in Rescued from the Scrappy Heap. But there ARE people who like Jar Jar. Making him the page image could potentially be a controversial move.
Either way, stolen fanart and duplicate images are an issue. It might be illustrative, but we can probably find something better.

It is not a duplicate image issue.
That has been pointed out before. The whole point of the other-language T Vtropes pages are that they are a copy of the English T Vtropes, but in another language. This is done manually so they can diverge, but in principle any content on a German trope page should also be on the English version, and vice versa. That means that it's fine if they have the same image as well.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I'd go with pull and close. We've got quite the backlog.
(Annoyed grunt)Here's my argument for pulling the current image and replacing it with Robot Chicken's:
That image, aside from being used without permission, doesn't really show what makes Jar Jar annoying. Out of context, it's a big white man's arm punching a goofy-looking alien unprovoked. And in light of what Jar Jar's actor went through, it's no wonder why many felt uncomfortable with the image.
Going further, the main image of The Scrappy is not fans beating up Scrappy Doo but rather highlighting Scrappy's annoying personality and the reactions of Shaggy and Scooby as a stand-in for the audience and fans. Thus, the same should be applied for the Jar Jar image which is why I recommend using Jar Jar's ghost annoying Darth Vader, who conveniently looks like a typical Star Wars fan with his Star Wars bedsheets and action figures.

I don't think there's a real problem with the Jaxxon comic cover one. Covers Always Lie, and it certainly doesn't look like something that's actually canonical in-universe. I mean, Darth Vader is standing right by the heroes, seeming to not know why they want him to be quiet, but otherwise not antagonistic with them. If the main Scrappy page can just use a completely normal title card as its image, then I think the Star Wars page can use a comic book cover that's not canonical, especially since it illustrates it even better.

I would go with the Robot Chicken one just on the basis that Jar Jar is such an iconic detested character. It just seems wrong to use a relatively obscure picture when the poster-boy is right there.
It'd be like if the main page's image was Scooby-Dum. It's just a little backwards.
I find it difficult to properly illustrate The Scrappy. We should just pull the current, maybe go with a Quote Source instead...
I’ve never seen Star Wars, and I would still agree that Jar Jar is the best known example of The Scrappy out there. 18 (ghost Jar Jar) for me.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Yeah, I've never really seen the Prequel Trilogy, but I know all about Jar Jar.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAlright, I say we go with Jar Jar and use Jaxxon for TheScrappy.Star Wars Legends.
Personally, I'd be fine with merging the Legends page into the main Star Wars page.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! As someone who hasn't been keeping up with Legends... who's Jaxxon and why's he a scrappy? As much as I hate fan toxicity and what happened to Ahmed Best because of the Hate Dumb, that doesn't change the fact that Jar Jar is the most recognizable scrappy of the SW universe.
Aren't there any images out there that don't involve punching him in the face?
As for merging the Legends continuity with canon, I suppose it's possible, provided the examples don't break the page limit, but I'm not too thrilled with the suggestion. Personally, I like having examples nice and orderly. Canon examples in one page, Legends in another.
- Fly, robin, fly! - ...I'm trying!Jaxxon is an early Scrappy, more in lines in with the robot that replaced the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four than say, Jar Jar. It's not his personality that annoys people but rather his cartoonish, Bugs-Bunny design with Marvel puns like his ship is called the Rabbit's Foot feels out of place even for Star Wars.
He only appeared in the early issues of Marvel Comics Star Wars (back in the 1970s) before being quietly phased out. Obviously, big fans of Star Wars, especially those who despise campiness and Ewoks, would see Jaxxon as an embarrassing addition added by Marvel. And it seems that Lucasfilms felt the same way considering all the jabs they threw at Jaxxon (his skeleton in TWC) with a fan rumor that George Lucas himself demanded that Marvel will never use Jaxxon again for their Star Wars comics.

I guess they did a good attempt to cover up Jaxxon, as he is only known by the most die-hard fans who either were around when those comics were published in the 1970s, or did their best effort to find those comics. Jar Jar is pretty famous because The Phantom Menace was an extremely high-profile project and probably the most expected film in the franchise.
With that said, if we have separate Scrappy pages for Canon and Legends, then I agree we can have Jar Jar for the former and Jaxxon for the latter.
I’m going with 18 for the main one and Jaxxon for TheScrappy.Star Wars Legends. Now we should close this.
I still think we should merge the pages.
Keet cleanupYou should discuss that in the relevant thread.
