"I'm 27," she mutters in response to the "baby clothing" quip.

"And define 'armed'," she adds, casually swirling magic sparks around her fingers.

   "Armed? Oh, equipped with carrying a weapon? I have one too!"   

(Of which is a black specter)

"Same here,I also have a 'weapon' with me."

"As for me... well, I was built for digging, so that's what I'm best at," says Bucky, as he hears the others explaining their abilities. "Some of the tools I'm equipped with could probably also be used for fighting, though."

The Log Cabin

The detective looks back at the fallen tree, the wind and rain starting to cause a puddle of rainwater to form around the tree inside the cabin. He sighs.

Well, might as well look around for stuff to help fix this mess. Don't think we've used the storage room yet, so no idea what's in there.

He turns around and starts heading to the storage room.

Pajama-clad girl nods and snaps her fingers, causing her sleepwear to instantly be replaced with jeans and a t-shirt. "Right, let's see if I can't adapt my shield spell to construction purposes, then."

It's good that you realized the value of focusing on utility spells in this continuity. Please don't break the fourth wall at me. It's unsettling.

"Well..." says Glass. "I don't have any brilliant plans, but I can try and lift this, I guess."

Glass attempts to lift the tree, pushing with his legs rather than lifting with his back. He is able to lift it up a bit, but not nearly enough. He puts it down.

"On second thought, I'll wait to see what GC finds. Unless you guys have super strength as well?"

The Log Cabin

The detective opens the storage room door and flips the light switch. Among a bunch of taped up boxes and some odds and ends are a bunch of plywood sheets on the top of a shelving rack. The detective reaches up to try to carefully move the plywood down, but they suddenly fall off the shelf without warning and land on the floor, which causes a loose plank of wood on the floor where they landed to rise up and hit the detective between the legs. He immediately doubles over in pain.

As the door to the storage room was near everyone present, they could see what happened to him.

Not the first time I was hit down there but still, owwww...

He weakly replies.

"Yeah... I don't think I'm strong enough to lift that tree, either," says Bucky to Glass. "We should probably try to find an easier way..."

"Ouch... are you okay, GC?" he asks the detective.

Glass does a Double Take, having not noticed GC's injury until Bucky said so.

"Oh geez. Are you okay?" he asks.

Luke rushes into the storage room. "Well, there's always worse. How much plywood do you think we'll need?"

Yeah, I'm fine. If I had a nickel for every time I was hit there, I'd have enough to retire early. Not that I'd actually do that as I like my job.

He gets up, shrugging off the pain.

Anyways, think there's enough plywood to cover a good portion of the hole, but not all of it. As for holding them into place, may have to continue to look around for that.

"Well, there's no point in waiting. I may not be the strongest, but I'll help you if you want."

The girl (who does have a name in-universe this time around, I just haven't decided what it is yet) carefully inspects the hole in the cabin wall.

"Well. First things first, I suppose." She briefly summons a magical energy blade and slices neatly through the fallen lumber.

I love magic so much.

The Log Cabin

The detective, still in a bit of pain limps around the storage room, reading the labels of the boxes stored there. He picks up one the boxes and places it in the main room, opening it. Inside is a about a dozen rolls of duct tape.

Well this could help with sealing the plywood in place. Though the best way to do that is ti use these on both the outside and inside of the hole, which means you'd may have to go outside in the stormy weather. I'm gonna stay inside, have to rest for a bit.

He sits down at the kitchen table. Trying to relax, he turns on the portable radio he brought for the camping trip. It then plays this song.

Well, can't say I was expecting that...

"I'll go outside," says Glass. "My species is meant for crawling around in wet climates anyway. Anyone wanna join me?"

"Sure, I'll come with you," Bucky says to Glass. "I'm waterproof, so the rain isn't a problem for me."

Shieru visibly flinches at GC's injury, but notices the others drifting off to help soon enough. "I'll go with you too," he offers, sliding on his hood again.

Not that it mattered if he did or not anyway—he'd probably still muttering something about psychic aura or other when he follows Glass and Bucky outside.

A teenage boy runs down the stairs with a sword at the ready.

What's happening are we being atta... Oh, it's just a tree.

He dissolves the sword.

What's the plan to fix this?

The detective turns to the boy as he mutes the radio.

Well, the plan is to fix the hole with some plywood and duct tape I found in storage. Bit too winded from accidentally being hit in the family jewels when I searched storage to really do much right now, so I'm taking it easy.

"Oof," the girl says, finally noticing the detective's injury. Another reason to be glad I don't have those anymore, she refrained from saying aloud, figuring it might come across as uncouth. "Here, let's get that stuff hauled out."

Ow, yeah, just take it easy GC.

The boy notices the new people for the first time.

Oh, new people 'sup, I'm Ray.

Luke perks up upon hearing Glass talking about going outside. "I'll come too!"

The detective unmutes the radio to resume listening to it just as an advertisement starts playing on it.
