Needs Help: Ear Worm

We're down to 6900 now.

I went ahead and rewrote Laconic.Its A Small World from scratch, to remove the Ear Worm wick (per this post). I had to sacrifice some brevity, but at least it's no longer an All Blue Entry.

Since we still have thousands of wicks, should we focus first on YMMV/ and YMMV-type subpages? YMMV/ takes up most of the Related. Zuxtron proposed

and I'm willing to overlook description mentions where Ear Worm is not the focus.

I've been clearing away at wicks when I come across them.

Wicks on YMMV, either as description/context, or a separate entry.

Examples of Ear Worm should be removed.

I think it's okay to leave it as a common idiom: It's very catchy / It's an ear worm that stays with you for good. But wicks should be removed.

We're doing good, we're doing good. We're currently at 6700. The bulk of these are at YMMV pages, but there's very likely several others floating around.

Let's also not forget the Awesome Music/ pages. Wicks can crop up there a few times per page.

I'll tackle that section, but can check the associated YMMV page after. Of course, any help is welcome.

Sorry to bother you, everyone, but we're now at 6,660 wicks. (Ooh, nice round number!) Anyway, I'll try and fix things up by clearing away some wicks. I'd love to help!

I've gone through YMMV/The- to YMMV/Z- without working on anything beginning with the article "The". Everything remaining in that range is either to be cut or has characters preventing a cut.

Edit: OK, going in reverse alphabetical order, done with YMMV/Z- to YMMV/TheT- and I'm going to wait for those cuts to be processed before continuing.

Down to 5852. YMMV/Tube-It was cut. I thought that wasn't possible due to the symbol?

Somebody created a brand new subpage at EarWorm.Aye Cash. It's not even correct use of the old scope of Ear Worm.

I support Zuxtron's suggestion of making it a "soft" IUEO, so I think we can we leave the AwesomeMusic/ wicks.

The YMMV/ Tube-It was a ghost wick.

Should the description be rewritten? Although some paragraphs were removed when the page was made IUEO, what remains is still mostly about ear worms as an audience reaction, using lots of second-person language as if it was the reader who had the song stuck in their head, rather than the characters.

It would to fix that, yes.

Should the trope be removed from the Music Tropes index, since characters with a song stuck in their head isn't associated specifically with works in the medium of music? And are there any new indexes it could be added to now that it's an actual Trope and not an Audience Reaction? I'm thinking that Comedy Tropes and Annoyance Tropes could possibly be a fit.
