Iridium Wonders - Elaine

"Oh no you don't!"

Brooke's left arm swung upwards and outwards, the cable on her wrist-bracer firing out with a click. The wire whipped outwards as it extended, aiming to wrap around Dementius' extended leg, in which case Brooke would follow through on the motion, turning around and yanking forcefully on the cable by crouching to grapple the demon in an arc overhead and hard onto the ground behind her, with a tazering for good measure.

Squad 4 - Temple Entrance - Aaron

Aaron jumped a bit at the sudden burst of lava melting Sam's ice man, going a bit pale with a nervous laugh.

"Well, if that's all the kind of traps there are, I guess I'll be pretty okay since I can teleport...right?"

Iridium Wonders - The Abyss

Ugh! The Iridium Idiots are starting to double-team him. That's no good!

Dementius got slammed into the ground. He planted a tendrill into the ground so that the incoming tazer shocks would quickly get through his body before rapidly getting dispersed into the ground.

Guuurl...   , he managed to stand up,    You've got a lotta nerves to do that to me!   , he shot a magical spider web at her from his left hand.

Vivian-Temple-Abandon Hope?

Vivian shrugged as they entered the Temple. Mikael's optimism was impressive. She just hoped he would be as tough as he promised. Not that she was going to be the first in line. She was really enjoying life now, so why put it in danger?

As the group entered the weird temple, she fell into step next to Holiday. "I never really answered you question back at the campsite, did I? About why I changed (for the better) into this "tin suit"? It's pretty simple, really." She paused, glancing at the others and then back at the other mechanoid.

"I did it for them. For them and for me and for the world. I wasn't going to be able to keep up. Protecting people and defeating evil is why we're here, after all. Well, it's why I'm here. And being made of flesh just wasn't going to cut it. The Suit was better, but I couldn't sleep in it, and my reactions and information retention were still only human level. It was the smartest choice. Now I'm much better (superior) to many of the threats we'll face, and I can and will upgrade myself as often as possible."

"Which leads me to reverse the position and ask you a question: Why are you a hero? I know you were designed to protect, but could you choose not to do so? And would you become human if given the choice?"

Squad 2 (The Iridium Wonders) - The Abyss (Sally)

Levitating upwards, Sally finally had her charged shot ready. Looking closely and trying to steady her aim, she decided to aim for the left arms. With an area in mind to aim for, she let out a charged shot towards his left arms.

"This is for the pain you caused towards us and every person you have hurt."

Squad 3 - Temple (Finn)

So, it seemed the consensus was shifting to "Let's just go in, We can handle it". Regardless, Finn stood up.

"So we are just going to go in there? That works but, let's try to do our best to look out each other and try to work together throughout. We don't know what we will see in there. Regardless, I think we can be fine as long as we put our talents together...Sorry, that was a bit of a ramble and kinda stating the obvious." He said to his squad. He wasn't quite use to saying long stuff like that for a while now.

Iridium Wonders - Stages One-Two: Denial-Anger

Cornered things do flail. And really, twas flailing. A called, ranged attack after a delay against a target with several dimensions of free movement. And it put its heart into it...

She didn't move. Planted both feet in the ground and put a hand on her hip. Ryuu did well though.

Mahvash raised a hand through the plume before the last of the flames passed. Demonic taint didn't make her more patient. Aura and pressure sent the flames crawling into the pit/former dwelling site. Metaphor and a show.

Holiday – Demon Temple (Squad 3)

“Relax, Finn. We've got each other's backs. Just stay focused; we'll do fine.”

Extending her micro machine guns, the ACP barely inclined her head towards her fellow mechanoid as she matched pace with her and provided a rather late answer to the question she had posed to her before. Not that she minded. The protector droid seemed happy just to be talking.

“Your reasoning is your own, and I commend that. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it is applicable to me. And though I understand it, it's not something I can ever imagine doing. To answer your questions, well first of all I am not like my fellow ACPs. Though they have a degree of artificial intelligence, they are bound by programming and contain some predetermined behaviours and responses. I am entirely autonomous. I was built—mentally speaking—from nothing. Like an infant, except even they have some sort of basis to begin with. I had to interpret it myself.”

She shifted slightly, relaxing her tense and ready stance for a moment and locking her gaze fully with Vivian's.

“Which brings me into the point of the question. I have programming to make sure I function according to my design. However, I can ignore it. I have the capability to follow my own inclinations. Though... that is not something I think I'm ready for yet.”

She brought herself to the ready again, scanning the path ahead intently as she shot a quick smile over to the other gynoid.

“So I am a hero based on my directive, but I feel like I'd be doing this sort of work regardless. I'm comfortable with it. Though I may be biased. And becoming human is just a fantasy. The reality of it is quite different, though. I'm aware of that. I'm sure you are too—just the reverse.”

Her voice cut off for a while after that, before continuing in a more subdued tone—artificially lowered in volume yet still clearly trying to replicate sympathy and concern.

“Though... if you have any concerns, don't let my... nature alienate you. Even if you don't think I'm as intelligent or broad in applications as I make myself appear to be I am certainly capable. Just... remember me. That is all. And come to me for anything.

Mason - Squad 1

"Cool! Didn't expect there to be D&D Level stuff like this just kinda lingering around, but..." A pause. "You know what, all things considered I should have expected that."

As he tredged behind Ellie and looked around for a moment, he brought his gauntlet up and inspected it, pondering for a moment if there was enough mythical energy in this place to possibly be a good power beacon for the Digi-Lord-Chips.

...note to self come up with a better name ASAP.

"So, given how big and bad this place seems, what are the chances of a Balrog lumbering around in here?" He asked with a nervous little chuckle.

Temple

As the Squads entered the temple, the general decor for each passage was the same. Carved into jeweled obsidian were a series of diagrams and crude paintings telling stories of ancient rituals, and of mighty demons and warriors of times past. As well as those who intruded on sacred ground. Needless to say, none of those particular stories ended happily.

Squad 1

As Squad 1 entered the first chamber, they could hear a low growl coming from below. In the middle of the room surrounded by a series of torches was a large pit spanning the room's entire width and a good chunk of its length, enough that any short-range teleportation wouldn't be enough to pass over it. The only way forward was to go over the pit. And yet, as the Squad move closer, the growl only continued to grow in intensity until it was clear that the pit was where it was coming from. If they were going to get past it, they would have to be incredibly careful. Lest they risk dealing with whatever was lurking in the shadows.

Squad 3

As soon as Squad 3 entered the chamber, they could hear an ear-curdling cacophony of screeches from above. A horde of demonic bats dived toward them, spitting out balls of hellfire from their mouths as they prepared to tear out their lungs and suck them dry. Assuming Squad 3 would let them.

Squad 4

As Squad 4 entered the chamber, they could hear a faint sound from under their feet, as though someone had stepped on something they shouldn't have. Seconds later the entire ceiling opened up to reveal a massive flaming boulder dropping on them from on high. If they were going to get out of this in one piece, they'd have to act now. Lest they wished to be flattened into flaming pancakes.

Cole - Squad 4 (70)

Sheesh, the fire trap there was strong enough to melt Sam's ice man...we gotta be careful heading forward.

And of course given Cole's luck, he proceeded to step directly on to an odd spiral shaped button on the floor when he started to get a strange psychic sense from this place. And a great flaming boulder was dropped from above, Cole deciding if he brought this down through his spacey behavior just then that he would resolve the issue.

At first he'd thought he needed to run, but then he realized - oh, wait. Psychic powers.

Reaching out with his mental powers, Cole seized upon the enormous boulder, freezing it in place mid fall, and then working to try and crush the whole damn thing to dust so it wouldn't hurt anyone else. He bit at his lip as he did so, blood trickling down.

He could feel something obliquely calling - deeper in the temple. Something that probably should not be here. His senses felt it, a deep sound, something like a heartbeat...

Sam looked around the temple, trying to see what there was.

"Maybe, but hopefully I can get a nice sword of my own or something" He joked, trying to make sure to keep an eye on things.

With the giant chasm, they had to be careful with that. "And something lives in here"

"Let's see if this works" He said, turning and throwing his shoes away, sending them flying to the entrance, he sent several bugs down the pit and a couple pieces of meat.

"Now, let's floor it!" He said, bolting past at top speed. He doubted running through was a good idea for the rest of them, but whatever they do, better be quick.

I.W.-Martin

Martin watched as his team jumped into action against the demon, tracking their movements and preparing himself for a strike against it when the opening presented itself. "70% Maximum Hero-Flicker Rush" Martin moved fast enough to blur and brought the blade that Mahvash had created for him against the creatures legs, following the lead of the team thus far. Destroy each of the legs and after that drag it back. Odds are it was self healing, which meant he could well and truly go all out.

"Awakened Skill Type Daeva-Void Knife" the blade sparked as pure black flames burst to life from it, cauterizing the wounds with the same flames that had nearly immolated him back during his encounter with Renegade. As one who collected divine power for so long, it seemed like any intense enough burst of mystical energy could add some new tricks. The drawback was of course surviving, which had required an entire set up just for this much.

That being said, an attack that was able to cause a wound that imbued the idea of an 'unhealable cut' was in and of itself quite the trick. Now if only it didn't leave his arms feeling like lead.

Iridium Wonders - Vs. Dementius

Dementius remained unfazed as the daeva diverted the flames towards his house. It was practically destroyed. Mourning its destruction would have been useless...not that he considered doing that, before coming to this conclusion...

Anyway, the cyborg girl (she was a full-on android now, but that didn't matter to him right now) shot a blast at him, and judging by that osteoporosis-curing goodie-two-shoes' exclamations, it seemed like he was going to attack him that daeva infused blade the brat gifted him with...

Soooo, what he did was shift to an intangible, spectre-like state to let Sally's charged shot slip through his body.

Now, he had to deal with Martin. That blade was a threat.

Powerful beams of purple fire, as a means to distance himself from his opponents and to possibly damper and weaken the daeva influence in the blade, erupted from both of his hands. They propelled him upwards to safe-ish distance. He used his wing-tendrills to balance himself in midair.

Iridium Wonders - Yeah, no

Appearing as she did without warning, Mahvash didn't bother pointing her arms or making a show. She simply showed above the demon before it could really leave the ground and pressure pushed it back into the dirt to eat the rest of Sally's beam and Martin's strike.

If it wants to give up the thin membrane of flesh and bone... She loosed 'gentle', wasting 'winds'. Flesh trembled a tad, the 'willies' that sensitives felt. No dust swirled. Twas just a breeze. And naked souls flayed under her breeze.

Iridium Wonders – Vs. Dementius

Tch-tch-tch-tch-tch...   , a firey forcefield materialized around Dementius, protecting him from the "breeze", with his arms crossed and his left index finger doing a slight sideways movement.

Heheh, I'm sorry, Mavvie, but...the only way these souls will get out of my body will be the one everyone knows about...the tingling felt nice, though...   , Dementius giggled as the souls that were going to come out got quickly reabsorbed into his body. He then sew the "wounds" shut with a particular fire spell.

His costume was pretty fine, except some narrow tears in the abdominal zone.

You ruined my fashionable attire...   , he landed on the ground, making his forcefield disappear,    Destroying my house is one thing. But ruining my clothes?! Nehahahah! You fucking vandals need get some sense bitten into you!   , his wing-tendrills start to violently squirm, twist and move. An ungodly horde of dark spider-like creatures came out of them.

They started to move, whisper and giggle around the Wonders on the ground, swarming towards them.

Iridium Wonders - Two

"!" She let it only get as far as 'heh' before the needle shot for its neck and larynx, encouraging a bubbling of putrid goo into and over the mouth. On top of simply rotting away the voice box.

Nuh-uh. Cancelling the goddamned bug show. No further annoyances. Just crossing it off. Right now.

Her breeze hardened into a maelstrom. Only a problem for the pasty remains of spiders joining the soup as they emerged. And where the purifying puree purged the light.

The first tendril shot out from... well nowhere, shooting to tear through flesh and magic and leave pus and rot wherever it touched. A pause. The half-dozen shot out, point-blank from another direction of nowhere.

No pauses. Free tendrils appeared all around the pest in the maelstrom, shooting to go through and through and spreading decay as they did. They never pulled back. New branches budded off of them to dig new wounds. They never pulled back.. until they did, the imitation flesh, flaying up into hooks as the tentacles teared back nearly all at once.

The last vanished on its pull, aiming to leave the demon crawling in the middle of the Wonders by itself. The maelstrom blinked out with all sign of Mahvash. She was serious about the math. He Wonders just needed the troublesome things peeled off. This did hardly serve as practice. The group no doubt found it like the bug constantly missing the swatter and then trying to climb over the clean dishes. Except it can talk.

I.W.-Martin

Martin watched as Dementius continued his assault, pulling out every stop against them. So it was only fair that he took that as a challenge and pulled out a new ability he had been work shopping. It would take him out of the fight for quite some time, but it would ensure that his friends would be able to win without compromise. "Hey guys, make you take him down," He tapped into one of his new abilities, storing up his strength for large bursts when needed. He was rather close to his peak, so it didn't take much.

"Now then, 100% Superhero-Awakened Skill fusion," his body shined gold as he tapped into the power that Love had gifted him. This would have been impossible without his team. Mahvash had eroded the area and removed enough taint of the Abyss that a minor miracle wouldn't be beyond expectation. And even if it was, a superhero defied the odds and won the day, it was the basis of the peoples belief in them. And if he couldn't prove that faith, then he would be a poor hero.

"King Maker." the light exploded off from his body and rose high into the air, sending down small motes of light onto the area, through they seemed to always drift out of Mahvash's way. For the rest however, it would be an influx of strength and sheer power that would boost up their strength beyond even their top levels. For Dementius however, it would probably feel like hundreds of shards of glass and metal falling upon its form.

"Give him a good show heroes," Martin smiled and fell back, his eyes closed and a soft snore escaping him.

Ryuu could feel the power surging through him. A wild grin came to his face, as the shadow of Sorano manifested on him, as he charged to Dementius head first at surprising speed. The shadow itself looked more solid, as the impact looked imminent.

"However it goes, end it now!" He yelled at the others. Wasting the shot Martin gave them wouldn't do, after all.

Iridium Wonders - Vs. Dementius

Kuhuhuhuhuhu, did I strike a nerve?   , Dementius caught the needle thrown at him with two fiery fingers,    Did I strike a nerve, eh? Eh? Did I just strike a nerve...Mahvash Matten Mahsa Mattiuza Mahass?   , the spider mockingly asked before letting out an intentionally obnoxious cackle as he yet again casted a pyro forcefield around him, retreating his wing-tendrills back into his...back.

He sensed the daeva's hidden despair as she threw everything at him without success. It was adequately exquisite!

After she stopped throwing "malady storms" at him, the disgustingly hopeful demigod wannabe started sharting out empowering shards of light/glass/whatever the fuck is that at him.

Ah shhhhhhhhhit!   , the spider sorcerer tried to dodge the King Maker shards in an almost comical way before getting hit by a power-hyped Ryuu. He uncontrollably rolled on the ground for a while before eventually stopping.

Oh my...   , he laid on the ground, slightly twitching,    You got me good, heheheheh!   , he cackled with less wickedness than average.

Iridium Wonders - One / Omae wa mou shindeiru

Mahvash popped the moron on the head even as he went to sleep. "By big sis, man, death or glory is for threats. Incessant buzzing does not count." Then again, I'm one to talk. I did rain stones to get rid of the fruit flies last week.

I bet you only did that because I'm right here. She crouched there, chin in her hand, tilting her head. "Twas awesome though."

Ryuu showed linebacker potential on the now-dying demon. Didn't even knock them loose. She rewarded stupidity as well as faith. The 'needles' that it took of its own free will sank into its hands, where followed a chill that quickly ate through the flesh in the demon's fingers, then hand, then blobbed towards the arm and the chest. Skin graying, crumbling, and collapsing in on itself. Oi, Ryuu's ram would get the blood pumping faster. To spread it faster.

Vivian-Squad 4-Boulders and Fire and Death Oh My

As the huge stone tumbled towards them, Vivian actually froze for a brief moment, unsure about what to do in response. She wasn't(yet)strong or tough enough to catch it, and she couldn't get all of her classmates out of the way in time. She found herself almost wishing Holiday was present, curious what the android girl would do. If it got closer, of course, she'd grab the most fragile among them and leap clear. Better that than a few would live.

In those moments before she took action, Vivian considered Holiday's earlier words. "And becoming human is just a fantasy. The reality of it is quite different, though. I'm aware of that. I'm sure you are too—just the reverse.” What had she meant by it? Curiouser and curiouser.

Thankfully Cole managed to catch the huge rock, though not without strain, obviously. As he carefully set the boulder down, Vivian glanced around to see if the noise had attracted any company.

Squad 4

At first Vivian could barely see a thing as she glanced around. Only that which was lit by the lingering emblems of the boulder, which wasn't much. But it wasn't long before something approached. A massive creature with the body of a bear and the head of a wolf shambled from the shadows, leering down as it waved a mighty mace at the students, it's voice booming as the beast opened a gaping maw large enough to swallow them all whole. "WHO DISTURBS THE TEMPLE OF SATAN?!"

Outside Temple

As the others continued on inside, Bozo summoned up a blue viewing portal of mystical energy, watching from a distance as they braved the temple's depths. As he did, he started to float away from the temple, the portal floating away with him. Bozo knew as well as anyone that his students may not have been the only ones searching for the artifact, and that it was best to keep an eye on the surrounding area as much as he could.

And it left the temple entrance wide open.

Iridium Wonders - Ded but not so ded

Dementius let out his last, shaky chuckles as his body crumbled. But, curiously, an ethereal, spectre-like version of him came out of his "corpse", his chuckles morphed into hearty and loud laughter. He was holding a small, glowing sac in his left hand.

Hahahahahah! You got me real good! My physical body was appaently a bit too fragile to deal with the empowering might of Love or whatever her real fucking name is...   , he grumpily commented as he casually threw upwards and caught the sac with his left hand several times,    Even so, it's bold of you to assume that you could "fully" kill me. I am the personification of a trickster god's immense divine powers and their mind! I've got lots of centuries of experience! And you guys aren't really pro heroes yet, it doesn't matter how powerful you are or the fact that you got these...licenses. As long as you are being guided by teachers, you aren't fully fledged heroes in my mind...   , Anansae Dementius gave the Wonders a cold glare.

It then warmed up shortly after.

But hey...you guys aren't half bad...and even though I'm a crazy bastard, I still got a shred of honor in me...so I'll accept my defeat. You might be wondering "Y were u n asshole, Dementius? YYYYYY?!"; Well, I am one half of a trickster god, and what do trickster gods do? Be fucking assholes and take ambiguous sides! But since I was, quote-on-quote, the wild, troublemaking magic-borne half of the spider trickster deity Ananse with, as my "indirect" son puts it, a "chaos boner"...I'm actually so fucking proud of him. I let that "chaos boner" get the best of me. And because of that, I got my ass handed to some noobs...   , he spoke in a calm, a bit regreful yet backhanded way. He then quickly glanced at the sac he was playing with.

Well, I guess I have to free these souls...   , by poking the sac a bit with a point finger, it started to burst into a copiously large swarm of glowing white "will-o-wisps" that flew upwards, slowly fading into nothingness,    If you think this is an happy ending for these souls. It really isn't...it's more bittersweet than anything...   , he calmly stared at the fading swarm,    Their bodies are in anything but good conditions...and my...digestive acids have "tainted" them. So they only belong to the Other Side now...   , the spectre spider directed his gaze at the Wonders,    It's incredible how us deities are simply capable of manipulating the fate of mortals on a whim...   , he spoke profoundly.

But welp. I can't simply stand here and mope with you, can I? I've got some things to do, such as a reuniting with the Carnival King, say sorry to Min-Min, and clarify something with the Lords Of Hell. Nothing simple basically...   , the trickster crossed his arms. Then a metaphorical light bulb lit up above his head.

Click.

With a snap of his fingers, a rapier materialized next to him. Its blade shone with siver light, and its hilt had the rather familiar color scheme of red and purple, along with some golden decorations.

I know that I did fucked up shit to Dante and Chibuzo. But it at least made them grow a bit. I guess I can even call it my own assholish, fitting for a trickster god, fucked up way of instructing peeps!   , he said a chuckle.

So give Dante this rapier. Consider it an early birthday gift and an apology gift...   , Dementius' ghostly frame started to warp and shift in a "circular" patter,    With that said, it was fun messing with Dante, you guys, Class 1 and the other fools while it lasted! I've got to see some delicious talent, feel delightful emotions and witness and be part of breath-taking misadventures...   , he started waving.

Cheers!   , his body morphed into a ethereal vortex that shrank into nothingness.

I.W.-King Maker

Taint. Decay. Corruption. The slow twisting away from any sort of light. In other words, a bad end. Even as the souls were released back into the world they would never be able to return, trapped within a nightmare that was never their fault.

Even as Martin rested his face couldn't help but smile, after all, it was a rare day when everything went exactly as planned. King Maker's main ability was to rain down positive energy and empower those who needed it, to push people to claim their own happy ending, unlike Bad End Breaker, which destroyed negativity it was a much more support based move over a certain area.

Such as, say, the area where a number of souls were being released under its gentle touch. Each wisp of soul energy would be touched, soothed by its power. A mass cleansing field, perfect for washing out those hard to get stains in peoples souls, or replacing the lost bits with light.

It wasn't a cure, but with enough strength they could be guided back home and have a chance, or at least be free enough to find the road to light from this dark place.

Squad 4-Clay

"Wooie we got ourselves a genuine devil place, ain't seen someone proclaiming themselves to be ol' scratch since that incident with the witches, and to be fair that just turned out to be Blackwood trying to recruit more people to his undead posse." Clay summoned his gun into his hand and looked toward the statue. "Don't know about y'all, but I ain't rightly comfortable leavin someone shouting about being the devil in flesh just free to do whatever trouble he is coming up with. So I say we take him down."

Iridium Wonders - Talking Is a Free Action (in the Comics)

Snip. Wasn't anything fleshy, yet. But the latest round of it expelling air gave her plenty of time to cut the legs off a spider plushie. She didn't wonder what made it thing that decay stopped at the flesh either. It was clearly full of it.

The demon's spirit warped all right, except bindings were how it got here. And it had been struggling in the middle of the terrain she'd spent far too long infesting. When it tried to stretch into a vortex, she helped it along, strands and chains connecting from the plush to usher it into its new home. Well, until its soul decayed into nothing.

"Okay," She dropped the thing on the ground. "I'm going to put this in brine, and then Mikael can take it. It can work out whatever with him. I presume he wants to deal with demon nonsense." 'Us deities'. Tch.

"I guess, we're raising these souls out of here. Then Peregrine can do the paperwork." Mahvash shrugged then. "She's the new reaper."
"By the way," Mahvash experimentally dug under Martin's body. Pulling on him from the back hadn't worked the first time. Reaching under his gut just flipped him like a flapjack. Tryingot lean him on her from the ground just put her in the ground.

Oh... Abyssal dust and grime. Its in places that should not exis...ugghhhh. Shaking her head and putting up a finger, she finally hoisted him up after rigging a maekshift pulley out of tentacles. She continued as if that had not been happening. "Pick a spot and something to draw on our newest lad. It'll make him feel at home. Think lots of colors. And we can tell Dante, a shadow's off of him."

Lily – Demon Temple (Squad 1)

It was rather shameful to say that Lily was already a cautious type through experience. Treading carefully was her specialty. Not for reasons conventional, either. Avoiding her family simply so she could step outside and breathe for a moment was something that was a lot harder than it should've been. Though the growling of an unseen beast was admittedly a greater incentive to stay quiet than the stoic disapproval of her father.

Marginally.

But Sam's approach through her off-kilter for a moment. Wincing at the cacophony he created, she glanced up enviously at the shadowy form of Jenni—who was expertly crawling across the ceiling and remaining barely perceptible; her short ranged teleports silent and subtle as she crossed gaps of light several feet at a time. She missed handholds on occasion, but she managed to scrabble back into place with her claws—old instincts from her time as Wren resurfacing as she made her own way across.

Looking back ahead again with a sigh, Lily took a few moments of time to figure out what the best approach would be, before reluctantly settling on the direct approach. Concentrating all her mental power onto the water beneath her feet, she stepped forward over the chasm—molecules of water congealing into a patch the rough length and width of her sole and solidifying as she pressed her weight onto it. She wobbled for a terrifying few seconds, before regaining her balance—continuing the process one step at a time so as to effectively walk across thin air.

This is by far the stupidest thing I've ever done. At least this'll improve my control... if I don't fall and die, of course...

The growling caused her to shiver, and she had to stop for a moment just to calm her breathing.

...out of all the ways, Lily, and you picked 'this one...

Holiday – Demon Temple (Squad 3)

Holiday sighed at the appearance of the bats, tanking the fireballs even as they bubbled against her toughened outer layers and returning fire at the things with her micro-SMGs. Armada's assistance in upgrading her frame had indeed proved useful, as despite the supernatural intensity of the flames impacting her synthetic skin they didn't end up doing too much damage. Constant fire would probably begin to start melting it, but even then the problem would be mostly aesthetic.

It was just hitting the things that was annoying. Holiday had never fired upon such erratically moving targets before, so she had to constantly readjust her aim. Which was clearly beginning to annoy her, as at one point she plain snatched one out of the air and crushed it in her mechanically empowered hand.

“Expert assistance: kill them with their brethren,” she advised in somewhat of a sarcastic tone. “There are no strategic advantages to this approach. But it is very, very–

She paused as she plucked another out of the air and sent it splatting against the far wall of the cavern; flattening three of its comrades in the process.

“–satisfying.”

If Holiday had learnt how to grin in a sadistic fashion, she would have done.

Evelyn – "TEMPLE OF SATAN" (Squad 4)

“I don't know, maybe he's friendly?” Evelyn suggested in a weak tone, staring up at the chimera and shifting uncomfortably to and fro in a manner suggesting she was considering running for it. “I mean, we did invade him first...”

“We didn't mean to intrude...” she politely informed the beast, subtly pushing her Third Eye out to scan it up and down. Potential weaknesses, prior injuries or simple observations to help them if things went south. “We're just... um, passing through? That's all.”

Convincing. Who knew being able to detect truth made you a damn awful liar as well?
