Per Ask The Tropers, this thread will be used to reduce the number of old, poorly written drafts on the Trope Launch Pad
. We don't want to discuss on the drafts themselves because that will bump them and mix them with active proposals.

The first sandbox page above contains drafts proposed in the thread that are still pending and drafts that we've decided to leave alone, either with no action or a bump.
The second sandbox page is for awful drafts but viable ideas. According to moderators, badly written but interesting/tropeworthy drafts should remain on the TLP. Rather than allow low-effort drafts to clog TLP, though, the salvage yard was opened to keep just the ideas behind them, in one place.
On this thread, we will mention which drafts we think are unworkable, add enough bombs, and discard (nuke) them. Discarding requires at least 5 bombs. Among the features of "unworkable" drafts:
- There have been no edits for a very long time, or at all
- The draft is low-effort, containing atrocious spelling and grammar and/or little to no examples, e.g. NEVER saw THAT coming (!), Nut-Chuks
- The draft was seemingly created so the sponsor could complain
- The topic is People Sit on Chairs, Too Rare to Trope, a search query created by mistake, etc. and therefore not tropeworthy
- The topic is already sufficiently covered by one or more tropes or is a duplicate of a better-written TLP draft
- The draft is problematic in other ways, such being closely tied to a page that has been historically problematic, e.g. Fetish Fuel, Complete Monster
- There's no discussion currently occurring in the comments to improve the proposal
If we decide to discard a draft after discussion via this thread, whoever does so must provide the discard reason in the comment section of the draft, for transparency's sake. Those looking at the discards section won't think it was nuked for no reason.
Also, check out the sister project, Trope Adoption Drive, where good drafts put Up for Grabs or abandoned can be grabbed, given a bit more improvement, and launched.

I disagree that "White Mom, Black Dad" is chairs.
There is one very interesting comment about white women being held as high standard of purity while black women being belittled and that implies that black men seek white women and think of them as better wife/mother material. No matter how insulting to black women and obviously not true it actually is, it is a tendency in fiction.
Tropes in Aggregate are usually harder to spot and trope.
However, I probably think that this trope is sufficiently covered by Where da White Women At?.

I would say cut Render Unto Caesar. It's only one sentence long, no examples and hasn't been edited in nearly two years (minus mine, I was about to discard but checked here first). If there is any potential, I think it should be given a fresh draft.

Originality Connoisseur looks unnecessary, as it's basically "some audience members like to say 'It's the Same, So It Sucks' and 'They Copied It, So It Sucks!'", and there are no examples. (See also Unpleasable Fanbase.)

Hey, can we not get into a "discard war" over Be Trans Not Gay? ~Round Robin recently discarded Be Trans Not Gay without providing a reason, and someone restored it without commenting in the discussion section. Pinging ~XFllo as the person who added the "do not discard without providing reasons" message.
The draft is never going to recover from 14 bombs and 0 hats. Let it go and start afresh. I think it's a tropeable phenomenon, or at least when it's a character being forced to transition due to Incompatible Orientation and cultural norms. I disagree that the phenomenon is the same or redundant with Trans Equals Gay, because if it was then the person wouldn't transition as there would be no difference. But the battle for that draft, as far as I can tell, has been lost.
Also pinging ~lakingsif since they were the OP of that draft and they might have other ideas for a second attempt.

Round Robin commented on the thread I made that they intended to just bomb it and hit discard by accident.
It probably is time to just discard and start fresh, though, otherwise people are just gonna keep drive-by bombing it.

Well, I've taken part in the discussion, and it seems that people are confused about what the proposed trope actually means, let alone whether it's tropable or not. Hence, the bomb.

I just think this thing is interesting and tropable and page-worthy. Yes, there is strong values dissonance and yes, it comes off as offensive. But many tropes are offensive (Mighty Whitey And Mellow Yellow, anyone? Heck, even Spirited Young Lady is classist as hell). We list those tropes and analyse them and that may help others see why the trope is problematic and offensive in the first place.
Best if someone would want to start fresh, but I don't think it's very likely, unless new examples start popping up in popular works (and hopefully, they won't).
I kind of want to know what you mean, Round Robin, by saying that some people don't understand what a proposed trope is. If that is directed at me (who was trying to make the proposal work), well, I think it's uncalled for. I know the difference between a proposed trope and actual trope on a launched page very well.

What happens to discarded drafts, anyway? How long do they remain accessible? I've browsed to the end of discarded drafts and some of them are from a long time ago, the oldest is from Feb 2nd 2018. Are they getting deleted from the list after some time?

That was around the time of the site redesign. I think discarded drafts stay in the database until it gets full and needs to be deleted or something otherwise happens to delete the discarded drafts database (like a major site redesign).
I think they just meant that other people didn't understand what the trope was about, not you.

Yeah, I think the list'll get purged by the system eventually.
Sad to see the page is goin', but if we can find a way to make the trope concept work, we should give the idea another go with a fresh new draft.

I wasn't talking about you! I meant people commenting on the discussion. In fact, I think you're one of the few who understand that the proposal has little to do with the gender one self-identifies.
TBH, I too think this is interesting and, given some work, even tropable, but I became exasperated with people dragging gender identity issues into this. When people start complaining about "not understanding trans issues", I figured it was time to cut my losses.

I can also agree. Reading the thread, it got tiring to see people repeat the same arguments about gender and the like, while the core of the trope seemed to be, more or less, "Gay person is forced to transition to be with their lover/to date the people they want to date". It was everyone else twisting the debate and failing to grasp the basic concept that doomed the draft, not you, X Fllo.

Perhaps Trans Equals Gay really covers the concept. And perhaps I'll copy the draft to my to do list and look into it some time later, and the proposal will be more reasonable and easier to stomach for most.
Perhaps even the OP will look into it. I saw their edit history and they are still active on the wiki. Water Blap was so kind and pinged them about this discussion.
And after all, it's just a trope and a potential trope page. Nothing horrible will happen if the page will not be created.

...Guys, I'm sorry to just be coming out of the blue with this, but I need to get this off of my chest and see if I'm either overreacting or if I'm not. Does anyone else think 4tell...has the tendency to be pretty abrasive and unhelpful? I've noticed a trend of them just being outright harsh when posting on certain drafts, whether they have an issue with the draft maker, or the concept itself, or just want to complain about people discard-bumping drafts...(which is a tad hypocritical since they also bump drafts with just "TLP Bump", and at least with discard-bumping there's an end goal and a point to it...) I don't know. I just need to post this and get this off my chest to see if it's just me who's been feeling like this, because I'm uncomfortable trying to do something about it if I feel it's just my opinion on the matter. (And also because 4tell does have moments of being very helpful as well)
Anyway, I'm going to get back to business and check out some of the drafts Malady linked. Not all of them- I have things to do today in the real world- but maybe 3-4.

- Vengeance Villain: Reading through the comments on this one, I'm torn. On one hand, this is a common trope for villains, and could make a decent subtrope (Heck, the story I'm writing with my friend, we have a villain that follows this pattern). However, other comments argue that this trope is covered already. I say we mothball for now.
- Plot Concluding Marriage: Ah, much better, the hats on this one were clearly pre-mature and, so, nullified. I think the idea is covered by Hooked Up Afterwards. Discard.
- Yellowstone Is A Time Bomb: Unsure if this is a necessary split of Chekhov's Volcano or not. I say we mothball it, see if more examples surface, and go from there.
- Chain Of Evidence: Dunno about this one. Mothball for now.
- 4tell0life4? Yeah, I've noted that, and I thought he got banned...
And I thought there was talk about him in ATT, but I think I got him confused with DAN 004.
