1. Enable caching system for server - If you are NOT logged-in you'll receive a cached page from the server which can be as old as 3 minutes old. Unless you submit a form then it will bypass the caching system. This should greatly reduce the server load so it doesn't have to dynamically build the page for every pageview millions of times per day. The future versions should cache trope/forum pages for everyone and then rebuild it only when something changes.
2. Remove unused pixels (ie: comscore, retargeting, etc.)
== END: CHRIS ==

The suggestions I've made so far in our mod chat, in regards to the hooker interface, are:
- Have some way to access the old crowners
- Change the text in the Question field to "Enter the page the crowner is being created for.", or put that under the field in small text.
- Change the text in the Description box to "Enter notes about the crowner's purpose; leave blank if not needed." or something along those lines.
Edited by Willbyr on Nov 11th 2021 at 12:41:29 PM
Other suggestions:
- The text for the vote ratios needs to be the same size as the other text.
- The crowner icon should only show up while the crowner is live, and remove itself when the crowner is closed.
Edited by Willbyr on Nov 11th 2021 at 12:23:42 PM
- From Wishlist query I have:
With so much Bibble Bobble on the crowners, may the Crowner example menu be fixed so we could edit the Bibble Bobbles without hassle?
- Also from this query:
The crowners' new UI looks beautiful.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I think it's fine. Nothing terrific, just slightly modernised to look more like our current style.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)How do we make crowners now? Attempting the old way just redirects me to How Crowners Work. Or am I just being a dumdum?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI have missed the UI being revamped. It looks quite nice I say.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔~War Jay 77: Yeah, that needs to change, pronto. I'm contacting the admin that's heading this project right now.
EDIT: Got official word that, for the time being, crowner creation is limited to mod-only. We've made it clear that this needs to be changed and moved to the top of the priority list for further changes. If I'm understanding things right, crowners created by non-mods will be placed in an approval queue.
Edited by Willbyr on Nov 11th 2021 at 1:45:45 PM
~alnair20aug93: Can you check a crowner and see if this is still happening?
Do they even need to be in mod queue for approval? As far as I know, crowners cause problems very rarely, and moderators have enough responsibilities as is.
that as well.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)I tried to check on editing crowners like this one, but so far, it's redirecting me to the "How Crowners Work" page, and most crowners I've seen have a lockpad in it. I'm assuming it's in process of overhauling or something.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Forgive me for being paranoid, but if this "approval que" is anything like the video approval system or the custom title approval system, then we're all screwed. Especially for places like TRS, where an ill-thought-out crowner might need alterations after being hooked, or might just be blindly approved regardless of what the options are.
I don't want to believe there'll be issues like these, but so far the track record for approval systems here have been...
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAs I understand things right now, that's what we're going to be going to, and we may not be able to get around it.
I'll make a note of that for the admins; hopefully that will get changed.
I agree. I'm not sure how this system is going to work, but hopefully it won't create the same issues.
Literally the only times we can think of crowner-related problems have been when people came in on already-existing ones and added bad options, up to and including spamming demands to be unbanned on random crowners.
Creating crowners in the first place seems to be almost if not completely devoid of troublemaking.
Edited by wingedcatgirl on Nov 11th 2021 at 4:13:32 AM
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. Not necessarily true. The TRS has had several examples, especially recently, of a badly written crowner creating a huge mess once the votes come in and people realize that, oh, the options they voted for make no sense in context and now what do? That's not an issue that'll get fixed by this system, if anything it'll just make it that much harder to quickly notice and resolve these issues, whether by replacing the crowner or rewriting the options before the votes explode. And if people can't see the crowners before they're posted, that makes it impossible to get feedback in before it's hooked.
It's not "troublemaking" because nobody intends to create a botched crowner. But it happens all the time.
Edited by WarJay77 on Nov 11th 2021 at 5:18:22 AM
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI don't think it will add much extra work to the mods, as they were needed to hook them anyway. However, since we'll have to wait for the mod for the crowner to be visible in the first place, they will become visible to the general public later.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.That's going to be discouraging for users who want to make Best Episode crowners.
It will when the mods have already been ridiculously busy lately.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢The new crowner system has some serious problems, which I have noticed from my participation in the Real Life Maintenance thread.
1)The crowners themselves are no longer in the same place that they used to be, and links to the old location redirect to the How Crowners Work page. This has broken all of the historical links on Administrivia.Keep Real Life Examples.
Example :
Old Link : PageAction.Real Life Section Maintenance 63
New Link : https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php?crowner_id=434g1uks
2)Many crowners appear to have been outright deleted. I chose RL #63 for the example above because according to the Crowner Index, 1-62 and 64-66 have all ceased to exist. This can be verified by the simple action of searching alphabetically.
3)The 'Crowner Index' discards sort order and filter setting when moving off of page 1. Choosing any other page reverts to "Alphabetical Ascending" and no filter.
Edited by Zyffyr on Nov 12th 2021 at 5:19:38 AM
Yikes...I'll pass that on.
Do red links show up red in the "at issue" section in crowners now?
Keet cleanupOne far more nit-picky complaint is that on Night Vision, the border is so faint that it looks like its basically blending in with the rest of the page.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI don't know; I can check that.
EDIT: No, I believe they'll show up blue. I'll make a note of that.
I see what you mean; that's noted.
Edited by Willbyr on Nov 12th 2021 at 12:59:18 PM
I've created a sandbox page for this topic: Sandbox.Suggested Crowner Changes
I'll be doing running updates as things are mentioned; feel free to discuss anything that's there.
The buttons (both the "show options" button and the like/dislike buttons) are smaller than the previous design, that's the one thing that bugs me the most.
I'd like to apologize for all this.
