- We recently discovered that a non-US IP address was hitting us with thousands of SQL injection attempts, none of which succeeded. They did, however, put additional load on the database. This wasn't intended as a DDoS attack per se but rather an attempt to take control of the site.
- The administrators activated additional security measures on our Cloudflare firewall that have had the unintended side-effect of causing frequent ReCAPTCHA prompts for users. We are aware of this problem and working on a resolution.
- Improvements to new user registrations and the user experience when suspended or banned. See this post for details.

- The adblocker bug (popup message) will now appear for logged-in users after a certain threshold of page views has occurred while blocking ads.
- You may snooze the bug for up to 7 days at a time if you have contributed to the wiki (by editing articles) recently.
- There is now a subscription option to use TV Tropes ad-free for certain periods (monthly, yearly).

- Subscriptions use a third-party payment facilitator called Stripe. TV Tropes does not collect or store any of your payment information. You will be rebilled at the indicated interval unless you cancel.

I guess that makes sense. I just never change my settings, but I do use those important links quite a bit, so having things shifted like this is just a bit confusing for muscle memory and, just... kinda looks weird to me.

Honestly, my bigger problem is that it puts the page info, especially "last modified," lower so I have to scroll down to see it. I liked being able to just glance over and see it.

Do we have a list of upcoming fixes anywhere? There are a couple of minor graphical glitches which I've mentioned before, but would like assurance that's they're still being worked on.

An update was just pushed live that corrects the index navigation bar for articles in auto-indexed namespaces. Example: Laconic.Reality Ensues. The next and previous buttons were not working until now.
Note that this change means that the parent link will go directly to the namespace index (e.g. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/namespace_index.php?ns=Laconic), rather than to a wiki article like Laconic Wiki. We're discussing internally which makes more sense.

Just a reminder: if you find any namespace in which articles are supposed to be auto-indexed but are not, let us know, since it's easy to fix now.
The developers are admittedly very behind on pushing code fixes into the live site. We have some hope that the situation will improve soon, but cannot make any promises.

Adding: the issue helper form seems to have fallen victim to the apostrophe bug when it renders URLs. I'm not sure if that's new or not, but I've brought it to the developers' attention.

Is it related to hyperlinks not working properly (i.e. 404 code) when used in Discussions and Forums? I can't seem to get how it is triggered. Sometimes hyperlinks get bugged in forums, sometimes, they do not.

Analysis is indeed a manual index for pages in the Analysis/ namespace.
As for removing avatars or signatures, I'd say almost all forum personalisation settings (Avatar, title, location, signature. Relationship statuses are predetermined, so there should be no problem with them.) should be removable by moderators, as even if they're limited, no one knows what trolls may try.

Yes, it's the same issue. I'm trying to track down the cause from a user perspective, since I cannot access the underlying code.
Regardless of whether the URL is relative or absolute, as in the HTML code <a href="pmwiki.php/Administrivia/GetKnown"...> versus <a href="https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Administrivia/GetKnown"...>, once the input is received from the user, those URLs are escaped by enclosing them in single-quotes ('), then prepended with the base URL (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/). This seems to be done in an intermediate pass between user input and final HTML output.
This causes them to render incorrectly when delivered to a user, via discussion, PM, or whatever.
There must be a generic code module that is processing this user input and needs to be fixed. I've passed all this info over to the devs so they can look at it. I'm itching to check the code myself, but alas I lack the privileges.
I agree, but we've lacked this ability before, leading to potential for abuse.

So, I wasn't sure if this is where to report the particular issue I encountered or not, but as I was clearing up my forum avatar gallery on mobile, I noticed that certain avatars seem to just straight-up refuse to be deleted, no matter how many times I try.

Not sure if it's just me or if anyone else is noticing, but I made a bug report that the Segoe emoticons/icons next to various links - "Follow TV Tropes", "Edit page", "History", etc. - aren't showing up properly, and are showing up as rectangle boxes. The last time when I checked the site in July 2019 but didn't sign in, they were still showing up properly. Firefox, Windows 7.

There was a fix released recently for other things and TV Tropes generally becomes less and less usable for people with older systems with each update (for example, I remember some update in Q3 2018 making it completely impossible to use TVT on my old Android 2.3 phone until I bought a more modern model with Android 6.0), so I think your computer and its OS is just becoming a bit old. Though if you know someone else with a Windows 7-using computer, maybe ask them for permission to borrow it and check to see if this is a widespread problem? Have you also tried using a different browser?

Also, run a ping or traceroute on both tvtropes.org and static.tvtropes.org. If they have the same IP address, it's fine, but if not, this indicates that your ISP may have a misconfigured DNS cache that's resolving our Cloudflare content delivery network incorrectly.

Just tried the ping method on both "tvtopres.org" and "static.tvtropes.org", it's off by one digit. I went to TV Tropes on a different computer with a different browser (same home network), yet the emoticons are showing up correctly. Probably my browser then.
Was there another stealth site redesign? I posted a bug about this
, but this seems like something that could be an intentional "improvement" that no one asked for.
Desktop mode no longer seems to exist, as the top header has most of its content hidden in a dropdown menu which is very annoying to use on a computer, as it is requires extra clicks and covers up a lot of the page. By hiding all the links to the forums and tools, it will also discourage wiki readers from getting involved with the forums and/or repair efforts, which seems bad.
