Cut. "This animal appears in a work" is not a trope. Doesn't help that Everything's Worse with Snowclones.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, if there's no significance aside from existing...
I can get behind a cut.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportCut. There was a cleanup effort for "Everything's Better with X" tropes a while back, but it never really took off.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! This seems like one of those "rare real life thing is unusually common in media" which I think kind of skirt the edges of Not A Trope. They definitely fit our definition of trope, but tends to attract "X appears" type examples.
I don't think this is a great page but I don't think it's a clear cut either.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I disagree. The page is unsalvageable. Cut.
If the point of the trope is that something rare is unusually common in media, then that needs to be the focus, rather than all the rambling about real-world platypus trivia. If there's a trope here, it's hard to figure out because the description is too busy trying to be an encyclopedia article.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. There seems to be the dregs of a trope about platypi having Bizarre Alien Biology or being evidence of the world being created by an Almighty Idiot. I would say send back to the TLP.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Aside from the less-than-perfect article, my biggest reason is that this is just Not A Trope and definitely doesn't deserve its own page. If it hadn't existed until now and was launched on the TLP it probably wouldn't survive long enough to get launched. As for the article, little can be done to salvage it, as stated above.

I think that if there's an actual platypus-related trope out there and TV Tropes doesn't have it, we should do to this what we did to Office: Cut this (what happened to Office) and propose a new trope from scratch (what happened to Standard Office Setting).
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I cannot think of a single other platypus-related trope
Neither can I. I was speaking hypothetically in my previous post.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Clock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think the best course of action here is to cut Everythings Better With Platypi and if someone who believes there's a platypus-related trope then they can start a TLP draft for it themselves, separate from this thread's efforts.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI think we have a strong consensus to cut. Let's just clean up the wicks first.
I'm new to the Trope Repair Shop. Will the article be cut when the clock runs out?
cut it.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The clock's there for threads that has seen no activity for a while. If the clock's up with no further activity, the thread gets closed. Since that isn't the case here, we can ignore that for now.
As for cutting, let's go for it. First, let's start the dewicking process.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIsn't it a rule with "everything's better with X" tropes that there should be some sort of reason this animal is used in fiction? (For instance, penguins are cute, monkeys are funny, sharks are scary, etc.)
Platypi are used a lot in fiction because they're really weird, right?

Platypi Are Strange is a trope, "this work has a platypus in it" is not. Send the former concept to TLP, cut this page.
Ah, okay then. Thanks for clarifying.
Dewicked and cutlisted.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Cut processed, so we're done here.
Closing.

This trope doesn't really serve any purpose and most of the article is just platypus trivia. A lot of the examples are just works that happen to have platypi. Overall the article just seems confused and pointless. Additionally, it's been around for nearly a decade but is only in 186 articles and hasn't been edited in five months.
