FanPreferredCouple Cleanup

Can't really comment on any of the other stuff discussed except that the historical example idea for Smallville is appropriate. I trust Bull on how he decides to act on everything else.

So on Live-Action TV I expanded an entry from this:

• In the new Hawaii Five-0 fandom, Steve×Danny is the most popular pairing by far.

To:

• In the new Hawaii Five-0 fandom, Steve×Danny is the most popular pairing by far, despite Steve dating Catherine and Danny getting back together with his ex-wife, Rachel.

It's not perfect but it'sthe best I could do with my limited knowledge of the show (I hade to look up if they had love interests). Anyone more familiar with the show want to expand?

"despite Steve dating Catherine" was a temporary thing since she eventually left, though.

Feel free to rewrite yourself if you know the work better, that is why I brought it here. I mean if they dated for awhile it should be fine to include, especially since from clips they get back or at least hinted to have gotten back together in the final.

• Ready or Not (2019): While Grace is married to Alex, many fans prefer to pair her with his brother Daniel. This is because Alex ends up betraying Grace and sides with his family over her, while Daniel goes out of his way to assist her and even performs a Heroic Sacrifice to give her some more time.

I have never seen this film, so I could be wrong but Grace/Alex don't sound creator preferred if he betrays her. Does she still love him afterwards? Anyone here seen this movie?

Sounds like it may already be canon as is and not fan preferred. Can't say for sure without seeing the movie, but logic dictates it though probably.

The pairing isn't canon, Grace and Daniel don't get together in the movie. Though I agree that Alex isn't creator preferred.

Yeah from my research we are not supposed to like Alex and as such I don't think we supposed to root for him and Grace. Which means the creators didn't prefer them.

So anymore opinions on the entry because if not I am going to cut it.

Oswald had feelings for Ed in the show. Ed was in love with Kristen Kringle until that went horribly wrong, but it predates the Oswald complication. Then the Kristen lookalike Isabella came into his life, which does coincide with Oswald's feelings. Oswald couldn't stand the competition, so he had Isabella murdered. When Ed found out, that triggered his vendetta against Oswald. Ed also had that brief, weird dalliance with Leslie, which also ended badly.

This trope needs a canon couple to overshadow for it to count. The canon/ones with no canon couples to compete with are removed. The ones without mentioning them are hidden/rewritten. • Transformers: Prime:
  • By far the most popular pairing is Knock Out/Breakdown, despite Breakdown having shown interest in Airachnid.
  • Jack/Arcee is quite popular as well, even though Word of God denies any romantic feelings between them. But due to the Relationship Writing Fumble, it gets hinted alot that there may be some deeper feelings between them, which only gives the fans more fuel.

Firt one seems fine, but does the second have canon competition.

Also removed this from Sex Education:

• Fan-Preferred Couple: Otis and Ruby. Their popularity skyrocketed in Season 3 when Ruby became a Romantic False Lead, which also elevated Ruby's character significantly among the fandom, to the point it now rivals Otis/Maeve.

Yeah Otis/Maeve is far more popular everywhere.

This is the type of missuse that seems to think that just not being canon with a fanbase is enough without remembering that it needs to be more popular than the canon one.

Basically, there's a brief scene where Breakdown is talking to a Vehicon that he finds himself "intrigued" by Airachnid despite her appearance, in a way that's hints towards him finding her attractive.

Of course, Breakdown is killed by Airachnid in a later episode, so...

  • Oddly enough, on 4chan, the most popular pairing seems to be... Jack/Arcee.
  • When Starscream isn't paired up with Megatron (one of most popular pairings in the franchise) he is either paired up with Knockout or, for some fans, Steve the Vehicon.
  • Technically, Jack's crush is Sierra, who shows up in five episodes and only shows interest in Jack after he gets an awesome bike. Her interest ceases after Arcee (in black leather) picks him up in episode 27, and Jack doesn't exactly brood over it. Obviously, it's not developed because the target demographic (and most other viewers in fact) has zero interest in Jack's love life if it doesn't involve Transformers. So even though there's no solid basis, the preferred couple is Jack and Miko. However, Miko is only 15 at the start of the series and 17 at the end.

Starscream didn't mention a creator preferred one. And that last one seemed like it was arguing with itself to try and find a creator preferred one while admitting there isn't one.

Me. And sorry, I’ve been a bit busy so I haven’t gotten to it yet.

From Literature:

• Artemis/Holly in Artemis Fowl has been the Fan Preferred Couple since the very first book. Even when Holly HATED Artemis.
  • Which takes Mayfly–December Romance to an extreme because not only is Holly very long-lived, but Artemis began the series as a prepubescent child.

• The Books of Ember has Doon and Lina, though they are Platonic Life-Partners for most of the series.

The problem is from research these are canon, with no ither canon ships. Like Doon/Lina are given two Maybe Ever Afters, and from memory Holly/Artemis are given ship tease.

However, I don't know the works super well and would like some more opinions.

It's fine. Take your time. I was just curious as I remembered it being brought up.
