Because mortals really don't want to. They see us, alright; the saying among Kindred is "The Masquerade is a two-person dance." Quite simply, if mortals blatantly existed that ghosts, werewolves, and demons walked among them, they'd have to accept that the world, quite simply, is insane. Far better to keep to the light, and pretend that "everyone knows." No small amount of esohumanity is quite willing to make that option seem appealing with threats and death. Which is fine for my people and all, until someone realizes that being willfully ignored means that they won't look to the victimizers in the first place...

No, I hated that place. It was my office for a while and I associate it with the worst possible moments.

Right now, Polter is at my house. I live near the Underground Corruption.

Which is way better than the Crimson. Doesn’t feel all squishy to step on and it’s a nice temperature down here. Plus Slime lives there and she’s the only person who makes me feel good about anything.
