Hooboy, that opening scene hit me a little harder than it should... (Work-related burnout... Let it build up too much and one day you'll just want to leave your job.)

That "Menacing" aura from the donuts and rice crackers...all to emphasize Yun's Weight Woe... Reminds me of the time that same Unsound Effect popped up in an episode of Kiniro Mosaic where Aya is wearing a maid outfit and tries to welcome customers to their maid cafe.

Also, how can Nene trip on one wire and be sent flying?

Next episode... FairyLeaks? Yikes, this will be a serious matter.

Probably drawing practice to polish/maintain their skills.

And the final episode is out. I liked their getting in line to buy the game with the bonus stuff... it was such a sweet moment in a lot of ways, And the after party was good too.

LOVED how they animated up the 'Police Video!' omake thing. Poor girls...

Before talking this episode, do you think Nene is a Base-Breaking Character or The Scrappy? I won't say an Edit War, but there's something going on in YMMV.

Apparently she's just that annoying...I didn't even know.

If there are people who like Nene, then she fits under Base-Breaking Character no matter what, right? I want to see the Scrappy entry booted anyway for using that "shades" nonsense :x

I liked her a lot past her intro episode... she fell into a good spot and wasn't over used like her intro episode.

Episode 12 (END):

Damnit Nene and Hajime, stop spoiling the game! I know the previous episode avoided any leaks, so ya better not start now!

Loved that face of Umiko after leaving a copy of that magazine with a photo of Kou all cleaned up nicely as payback for calling her "Ahagon."

It's a good thing that Mozoku is well-trained enough to sit in one place for a long time. Most cats I know would usually just wander around...

Final impressions: Well, I picked up this series knowing it might remind me of some...not-so-good days at my job back when I was a proofreader for a newspaper, and the fact that since leaving that job, I'm now Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life. But New Game! is still a nice show to watch despite it toning down or removing the downsides to being a corporate drone, as I've genuinely grown fond of the characters, including Nene (maybe because I also see a bit of myself in her). Also, it was interesting to get a glimpse of how game development is done.

A worthy addition to the likes of KinMoza and GochiUsa.

I actually haven't looked at the TV Tropes page. Not so good?

I'd read and liked the manga version before and the anime series was an excellent adaptation of it. There was enough realism in its depiction of a videogame workplace to ground the cute girls doing cute things antics and fortunately the fanservice calmed down a bit in the later episodes.

I wonder if this will ever get a second season? Because there's a fair bit of manga material that could be adapted, either following the crew as they adapt to their new roles and work now their game has been released, or by taking the spinoff set in high school.

Of note: quite a bit of the charm of the show is the characters, almost without exception, being massive dorks.

It certainly was an enjoyabe anime, and I look forwards to the OVA. The technical details may be abstracted out entirely, but that's fine

Wonder if Crunchy will air the OVA when it's out with the blu-ray?

Unfortunately, Crunchyroll putting up special or OVA episodes is an exception rather than the norm. :( The only one I can think of off the top of my head that had its special episode put up is the third season of Working!!, and that's most likely because that was the actual finale

It feels like the only person in the main four that isn't an otaku is Aoba. This episode shows very clearly that Yun is a bit of Closet Geek.

They've done so for Locodol previously, so I'm going to be optimistic.

Valentines Day chapter got scanlated. Rin has Kou SO whipped.

At least in relate Kou and Rin—why I have the feeling that Hazuki is speaking in Imageboard-speak?

She does say 「爆発しろ！」 ("Explode!", usually in context as "Explode, riajuu!"), which I believe did originate from 2ch. I think that's the extent of it, too lazy to check every single one of her lines in ch 40.
