[up]Relax, I think I've figured out why I had writer's block; for some reason, I can only write at certain times of year. Weird, but whatever.

Oh, and here's the new thing I mentioned: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12393312/1/Unnecessary-Weasels

It's a crime comedy of sorts; in the same vein as Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, for example, except obviously a lot less violent and sweary. Though I've toyed with the idea of writing a 'profane version' later, with extra, stronger swears. :V

Well, I can honestly say that's the first time I've ever seen a classic Disney-style chase scene and subsequent slapstick in prose. And well-done, too, something I wouldn't have expected to be possible involving visual gags, I'm seriously impressed! Not just anyone could have pulled that off, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Also, I'm loving how everyone's OCs here seem to all potentially mesh together.

Many thanks! Berserker wrote chase sequences like that before I did, though; I just learned it from him. tongue

Ah, yes, Hamilton. "No prey actors need audition".

Considering George Washington is a buffalo and Thomas Jefferson is a sheep, not to mention there also being a deer in the cast, that's not quite accurate tongue

Damn, Unknown; you have a comprehensive knowledge of all this fan content. I barely read or look at other people's stuff, myself. :/

I know, just drawing snarky real-world parallels!

Heh, well, I pay attention on certain other sites. Pack Street and spinoffs are still my favorite, though.

I'm actually tempted to try writing a fanfic based around that, now. Like not based on the musical (as I haven't seen it) but Judy and Nick interacting with the cast as they rehearse it and deal with some sort of issue that I haven't thought up yet, along with other inter-cast problems.

[up][up]Well, surely if you're going to draw real-world parallels, it'd be 'Pred actors need not apply'. :V Unless I'm missing a more specific reference to Hamilton which I have no idea what it is.

[up]Make it a murder mystery! Theatres are always good places for one of those. Lots of ways an accident can happen. :V

Nah, that's too cliche xD Maybe just someone doesn't want the musical to debut for some reason.

Actually, better idea; have the lead actor be an Expy of Michael Keaton's character in Birdman; a washed-up former comic book movie-star desperately trying to prove himself as an artist, who faces friction with just about every member of the cast and crew. Probably without the part where he shoots himself on stage for the art... but not necessarily. :V

[up]x4 No, I meant what I said. :| It's about the production of the play, not the historical context. Not worth going into here, you can look it up.

Anyway, keep up the good work, guys.

*Looks it up* Ohhhhh, I get it now. Forgive my ignorance, I literally knew nothing about it beyond the name until now. I guess the shared social dimension makes it a fitting crossover.

But wait a minute, if Hamilton is based on historical events in our world, if it took place in the Zooniverse (not to be confused with the other Zooniverse), it'd have to be altered to reflect the alternate reality. Not necessarily in a significant way that turns it into a completely different play, but it certainly wouldn't be entirely identical, I reckon.

Yeah, I know. If I do write it I would have to alter at least some of the lyrics.

Haha, no, it's okay, I understand there are certain reasons it wouldn't be as interesting or relevant on your end. :P

Yes, and that just brings up the unanswered can of worms that is the history of Zootopia. Let's review. The geography (and area code Easter egg) suggest that it might be in a California-like area, or perhaps California itself if the first trailer's implication that it's on a parallel Earth is true. However, it's also stated to be the location of the first peaceful pred/prey settlement, which if the paintings in the museum are to be believed happened somewhere in the African savanna. And it's got some buildings that look like they've been around for fairly long, but that climate wall and mist system in the Rainforest District are clearly newer...

(On an unrelated note, I just found this, which will be awesome for fanfics set in said past of this setting, or of course Lackadaisy or Blacksad.)

I've gotten quite a bit of mileage out of inventing alternate, 'Zootopified' (read: punny) names for real-world locales. Like Great Badgertain, Faunce, Rattaly, Gerbiny, Pandina, Tanukyo, Bearuska, and South Aardvarka. (Althought 'Great Badgertain' was originally someone else's; Mind Jack, in case he comes by. :V)

I like to think that Zootopia, and by extension, the unnamed but America-like country it's part of is something of a cultural and species melting pot compared to the rest of the world. So the country would probably be called something like 'Mammalica' to reflect this. Not that I ever gave these things much thought besides what's necessary for background flavour. :V

Mammalica may be good. Animerica? *shrug*

I approve of all these names. XD

Anyway, I finally did a thing again.

Curious.

Anyhow, have another chapter. As you can see, I changed the name. Tried to be 'short, but sweet'. With the name, that is. Not the chapter. Still got the length issue.

[up][up]Also, I keep bloody forgetting to catch up on yours. :/

I'm still glad you are still around [up] We need to talk more. :)

As for me, I did a thing....something wholly unique and different from my previous thing: an OC driven story set in Zootopia: In Darkness I Hide.

Synopsis: No one mammal is the same. We all have our shadows in the closet that make us who we are. They shape us, change us, or keep us oblivious to scars that we may not realize we have. Enter Murana Delante Wolford. Her shadows run as black as the back alleys of Zootopia, though she fully embraces them. However, not everything can hide in the dark forever...

That may well be a good idea. Also, guess what? I have more stuff. Extremely long stuff. Almost 15,000 words, in fact.

This one takes a break from Duke to focus on a number of sub-plots. Think of it as 'a normal day in the Zootopian underworld'. :V
