Decided to catch up on some news for this game and check out its trope page and um.... I think the Tamer and Chaster complaints being thrown at this game are overblown.

The pages for DOA 6 has these (emphasis is my own):

While fanservice is being toned down, I disagree that it is being toned down to such an extent that it warrants entries like these.

• Helena's default outfit for this game is the most fanservicey default outfit she's had in the series.
• Marie Rose and Honoka (i.e., the two characters made with the intent of embracing modern anime fanservice tropes) are present and accounted for.
• Speaking of Honoka, her official character render for the game has straight-up undercheek.
• Kasumi's panty shot galore classic outfits (blue, white, and black versions) are in, as is Lei Fang's.
• Jiggle physics
• Jiggle physics
• Jiggle physics
• Jiggle physics
• Jiggle physics

I don't know what people are even mad about.

Aside from some toned down fanservice (which as pointed out above isn't even that toned down) this game is really nor "srs bns".

Just saw the english trailer for Christie. As expected, Baily won't be reprising her role as Christie. I wonder if that means Lowenthal won't be reprising as Hayate either.

I'm slightly disappointed about no guest characters in the core roster but eh thats what DLC packs are for 'is buried under costume packs'

Granted at this point other then Tifa the only other person I'd want is Samus due to how much they teased it... to the point they were basically giving Samus esque costumes out 'then again Sarah and Samus are pretty much identical save for Samus' mole'

So maybe focusing on making New fighters would be good

5 is the biggest roster expansion since well the first game and though how much do you consider it an expansion when its mostly DLC guests and well Re purposed Boss characters

1: 11 characters 2: added 4 new characters 'No I'm not counting Kasumi alpha she's just Kasumi 3: added 5 new characters 'This is when they officially split Hayate and 'Ein' into two different fighting styles 4: added 5

5: added 5 New Characters, 3 repurposed characters 'Rachel is basically Nicole/Spartan, Phase-4 is Alpha and Nyotengu is well Tengu and the 6 guest characters

Making 14 new characters and if you quibble it down to not include the repurposed characters that still makes 11

then again you could argue Leon didn't really count till 3 when him and Bayman got more officially differentiated with Leon basically just being Bayman in 2

We have a new character, mysterious MIST scientist from Finland NiCO, as well confirmation that Kokoro and Lisa/La Mariposa will return.

So far, discounting Guest Fighters, the only veterans left who are yet to be confirmed are Gen Fu, Raidou, Ein, Leon, Kasumi Alpha, Tengu/Gohyakumine Bankotsubo, Brad Wong, Genra/Omega, Eliot, Alpha-152, False Kasumi, Momiji, and Rachel. IIRC Phase 4 and Miyama no Nyotengu are DLC. Still holding hope for more Ninja Gaiden characters, especially Irene Lew and (As highly unlikely as it sounds) the Malice Four.

When I saw NiCO's pic (Why is her name spelled like that? It's almost like foreshadowing of her being either a Robot Girl or an Artificial Human...), my first thought was "... Is her designed based on Sailor Mercury?"

I'll be honest, I've been waiting for Kokoro and Lisa to be announced for this game for a while now. And so far, I'm really liking the newcomers for this game.

Yup, definitely gives me an "Ami Mizuno, if she was a Child Prodigy Omnidisciplinary Scientist Kung-Fu Wizard with fulgurokinesis instead of a Magical Girl Warrior with a cyrokinesis-aquakinesis combo, and had Peek A Bangs" impression.

The cutscenes still look like a PS3 game… Otherwise it all looks pretty cool, though not much seems to have changed from 5.

Her character concept is okay, but her design looks...out of place? She feels too anime(which okay with a game with super ninjas seems like a silly complaint but hear me out) and once again Japan makes a scandanavian who doesn't look scandanavian. wtf.

Between her, marie rose, and honoka I feel DOA has become too obsessed with anime for their female characters. Marie isn't bad but these other two feel like they've dragged the trend too much. The trailer even further highlights her out of placeness following Lisa and Kokoro who look far more "believable" for DOA's roster.

Also she uses an indonesian martial art...would've been nice having a a SE asian female or maybe someone who adds a little more diversity to the female palette but naw we got more animu trash.

also I swear Nico's been mentioned in DOA lore before. Maybe I'm misremembering.

I might be getting my Nicos crossed. Also I thought she had a relationship with Lisa for some reason, which fits her being a DOATEC scientist and all.

My guess is that she's a scientist who put her consciousness into an android body.

And her real name is probably spelled "Nico", but after the body switch she changed it to all-caps except for the i because it makes the name look cool and futuristic.

• Kasumi Alpha is Alpha 152 & considering Kasumi vanquish her/it in DOA 5 I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing her anytime soon. Unless they revive her through cloning tech or some crap like that. Not that I would mind that method if that meant having more characters coming back.

• If Tengu didn't come back in DOA 5 then he's probably never coming back at all. That's what happens when you attract the attention of one of gaming's most recognizable ninjas.

• Genra dead too, unless they do the same thing with Raidou with him. Not really seeing honestly but if he does come back maybe that would Ayane more time in spotlight.

• Seriously you consider False Kasumi a character what she can offer? Granted I still thought what happen to her was very cruel but still a resurrection? I doubt Team Ninja has capabilities to make that & her work as a character. Especially Phase-4 being a thing unless they some how got merge.

Yes they are still DLC. I'm hoping I'm reading something wrong regarding but it sounds like she's only available if you pre-order the Special Edition of the game. Pretty dickish if that's the case.

It's good too see Kokoro finally getting her answer. Whether that actually means something interesting will happen is entirely different story. A major relief to Lisa alive unless it's something stupid like a clone or something.

I'm kinda on the fence about Nico. At 1st I thought she was an exclusive character from the Vollyball spin off like Lisa but that's not the case at all. Honestly she looks interesting but she's look anime for my taste. This isn't the newcomer that would've got me into DOA but I suppose that's irrelevant. And Shirow is probably right she's probably a robot waifu or something like that. Going purely off of what I remember back in DOA 5 I don't think we're going get anymore new characters announce after Nico. If there is going to be any new character it'll be announce as DLC like Marie Rose. Man, I just want Irene to be playable, is that so much to ask?

I think would be nice to have Spartan-458 finally come back since Microsoft hasn't done squat with her.

I don't really think any of the final bosses or Kasumi clones that aren't Phase 4 are going to come back. I just included them for the sake of...of...goddammit, what's the word? When it's not necessary to include certain members of a team, but you include them anyway for the sake of...?

Still I wouldn't completely ruled them out. After all, cyborg or not I don't think anyone ever thought Raidou would come back at all. Speaking of which was Nico working Raidou in that trailer?

It's "thorough".

I find it amusing that people are calling Nico "too anime" despite the series being anime since its inception, with the main difference now is that it's being influenced by more modern trends and tropes. I'm starting to think that some fighting game fans have trouble calling something "anime" if the base style of the game appears to be more grounded at first glance. Tekken, Street Fighter, and Soulcalibur all have characters that fall into Nico's niche of appearing too flashy in games that were already flashy, and the observations/complaints of these characters always struck me as odd.

As I still pay some attention to the Beach spin-offs, the idea that Nico looks like a character more suited for that series is amusing, since they apparently decided to add a bunch of new exclusive characters to the latest entry for the sole purpose of being typical pandering archetypes. ^Details They consist of a shy assistant character who remembers/knows Zack and may be infatuated with the player, an "emotionless" scholar who's interested in Zack's Island but is more weird and eccentric than emotionless, an alcholic, flirtatious "ladette"/older sis type who for some reason gropes everyone, and an actual princess who is literally only there because she's "in love with the owner" (aka the player) and left her sheltered life-style to be with him. I don't think any of them have any sort of fighting history in their background either, but that didn't really stop Lisa (who I think, at the time of her debut, only had "is friends with Tina" as a backstory hook) from transitioning over did it.

For Nico herself, I'm fine with her. Her design is appealing at least (though I almost feel like it clashes with the rest of the game), and she seems like she'd be fun to play. Though I really wish this series would introduce more female characters who are more grounded like Diego. Kokoro returning is nice, but Lisa is where it's at for me, so I'm happy she's here.
