Whhhha!?
...wow. Last I checked, he was in the hospital for reasons. I...whoa.
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogI read that recent article announcing his shrinking online presence due to developments with his surgery, and about how he was planning a new site and a future Kickstarter campaign. .... how's that for poor timing?

Oh God. I hope his final review wasn't of G.I. Joe.
I'm a skeptical squirrelTrying to go to his site to remind myself of what his last movie review is.
"The service is unavailable." Of course it is.
It's the end of an era.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I hate that phrase. Eras actually don't exist. Each event gradually blends into the next.
Well, he is the last newspaper critic who actually analyzed movies, let alone the last one anyone paid attention to. Who do you put your trust in now, Peter Travers and Jeff Lyons?
"Outrageously Funny! It will blow your senses! Oh god please please just put my name on the poster"
I'm a skeptical squirrelHoly cow, that was sudden. And that makes his last Tweet and blog post all the more Harsher in Hindsight.
It especially surprised me because he had just said he was undergoing cancer treatment on his hip when previously he had claimed that the third time his cancer returns he'll let it kill him. I figured this meant he had changed his mind and was planning to live.
I was hoping he'd make it to review a movie based on his life too. His autobiography was in talks to be adapted. Uncyclopedia had already shown that situation could turn out hilarious.
Ebert also once gave some advice on his blog.
- Me: For an aspiring filmmaker, what do you suggest is needed to survive in an indie-ignoring world?
- Ebert: Cash money, and plenty of it.

There's a chance that his time of death would've changed depending on when he scheduled this appointment!
D:
I respected his reviews a lot. I knew that it would come to this, but actually feeling it...wow, I don't know what to say.
Steve Jobs and now him, people who pioneered their fields are dying left and right, or at least that's how I feel right now.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. That's a shame. I liked his reviews. Even if you weren't in agreement with his opinions, they were always good to raise a good discussion, and made interesting points. He will sorely be missed.
Geologists would disagree

Wow, this sucks. like many others, i would disagree with him often, but at least he made up for it with being really awesome.
Sucks.
I didn't always agree with him, but he was a good writer, funny, and thoughtful. Seemed like a good person too. I'll miss him.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.President Obama on death of Roger Ebert: 'Movies won't be the same'
The man is right.
Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016Rest in Peace, Ebert...
Movie reviews won't be the same without your thumb's approval...
Just floating around...He was pretty much the only major critic whose opinion I really cared about.
R.I.P man, R.I.P
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Wow. I didn't think this would affect me this much. He was such a good critic.
At least he'll be hanging out with Siskel now. There's that.
Hell Hasn't Earned My TearsI was shocked when I found out. Particularly since I'd added one of his quotes to the True Art Is Angsty quotes page today.
Sorry for the double post, but here is a pretty good tribute a friend of mine posted.

Even though I'm not a big movie buff, this is saddening. This is a man who, for better or worse, redefined reviewing as a profession (and whether he would have liked to admit it or not, was one of the original Caustic Critics).
There will likely never be another quite like him. R.I.P. Ebert, and I hope you're enjoying the biggest bucket of popcorn ever.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Oh no... I just found out after seeing d Roy's title, and searched it really quick. It was today?
I haven't really read into his commentary but I've seen bits of it from several other sources regarding films I've known, so I was aware of his prominence.
RIP Roger. You will be sorely missed.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiThe only critic I ever found to have a useful viewpoint on films. RIP.
Am I a good man or a bad man?
