Is "out walking the dogs" maybe a reference to blackcat? She's the only mod I can think of that has dogs.
And "petting kitties" is probably a mod reference, too. Not sure which one, though I'm thinking maybe lu, because we already have one for Best Of.
According to Google/Wikipedia, I-405 refers to two interstates, one bypassing Seattle, Washington (where a number of COBbies live) and one by LA.

Petting kitties would work for Lu, yeah. Cute cute kitties.
Morven lives in southern California according to their troper page, so that could be the interstate one. I've heard of people up in Seattle but I can't remember who. -scuttles off to check troper map- -returns unenlightened-
Oh, Nocturna (what's a good shortening of that?), can you remember someone once setting their location to "...look up" or is that just me?

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I'm pretty sure the Drunks live in the Seattle area, can't remember who else. (And without context that sentence looks horrible. XD )
I think I recall "... look up" being used, too. I also think "nowhere" and "an undisclosed location" have been used as actual locations previously (especially "nowhere"), but I can't remember who.
(And regarding nicknames, hopey uses "Noccy" (I think he likes "-y" endings), elsewhere I get called "Turna"; take your pick.)
Lost in time and space, I think, too. Sadly Google updates its caches fast enough that I can't go poking through forums before the locations were randomised.
Anyway...
"The Corner Pocket": a billiard table?
"Quality Cafe": [1]
"Theory -- and everything works here!": I think that's just a play on the common saying/finding.
"The Corner Pocket" on Google turns up a bunch of sports bars, so it may be a mod reference.
Agree on the other two, though.
"the belly of the beast": [1], [2]
"chasing the Southern Cross" clearly refers to something to do with the southern hemisphere, but I'm not sure what exactly
"CHAOS HEADQUARTERS": [3], [4] (are there any mods from Florida?)
"down at the crossroads": [5]
"down by the Bayou": [6]
"the garden": the only garden song that's popping into my head is the hymn "In the garden"

The Southern Cross is a constellation only visible in the Southern Hemisphere.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.I know. Hence why I'm assuming chasing it is something to do with the southern hemisphere.
If that is a media reference, I don't get it either.
Oh, and I didn't know you were Jamaican, your location bar says Montego Bay ATM.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Further confirmation:
- "Out walking the dogs" is blackcat
- "petting kitties" is lu
- "On the 405" is Morven. He moved from southern California to Seattle a few months ago for a new job. However, he is/was near the 405 in both cities.
- "Chasing the Southern Cross" is a reference to the Southern Hemisphere, but sideways, though. It's a work of some sort, not one of the mod-specific references.
- "The Corner Pocket" does refer to a bar of that name that comes up on a google search — which one and which mod?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Either Facebook is posting fake engagements for April Fools, or two people who I thought were my friends have been omitting information.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I remember the Corner Pocket! I'd thought that was blackcat, though.
"We are Libris. We will add your literary distinctiveness to our own. Collection is imminent. Resistance is futile." -Tuefel PM box opeThe Corner Pocket is blackcat. Good memory, Libris.
Nobody said there was only one modlocation per mod...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yay!
...is it bad that that was the first thing I thought of upon reading it?
Also, tis all very clever. ^^
"We are Libris. We will add your literary distinctiveness to our own. Collection is imminent. Resistance is futile." -Tuefel PM box opeI really doubt that anyone is going to guess the one I put in for my own location as mine. If no one guesses it by the end of the I Day I'll tell.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. Dick...I had an idea.
Would it be possible to put, on the "edit your profile" page, a "Random" button? Where it would randomly choose one of these locations?
I mean, that way we could keep this AWESOMENESS around, and make it a FEATURE.
Go play Kentucky Route Zero. Now.@Nocturna: We're not in Seattle, but we are in Washington State.
Edit: As far as I can tell "the flipside" is from Boondock Saints?

"I don't know how I do it. I'm like the Mr. Bean of sex." -DrunkscriblerianThe locations and mod avatars have been restored to the usual a little early. It is still April 1 somewhere on the planet, but I won't be around to und the code changes before the last second.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThe garden...if that refers to a song, then I'm thinking either Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" or maybe Iron Butterfly's "In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida"? (I know I'm probably totally wrong.)
As for "chasing the Southern Cross"...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the Crosby, Stills and Nash song?

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. On the flipside: Yes. Boondock Saints.
In the Garden: Joni Mitchell, Woodstock Yes.
Southern Cross: Crosby Stills and Nash, Yes.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm with Jimmyman in this one, that'd be a cool feature.
Yeah, that would be very fun.
Last references to track down. (Maddy, how did any of you ever think we wouldn't try to do this? ) Some of these may not be specific references, of course, or the links already in them could be correct. I'm proud of how many y'all have found.
- 1000 feet up. ...900. ...800.
- the ballet
- the car
- the director's chair
- the gym
- the high dive
- the hot springs
- Jake's Place
- ...look up
- nowhere
- the pool hall racking up
- underneath your space bar...with a headache
- under the dryer, searching for socks (possibly my favourite)
- an undisclosed location

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. These are still uncertain, too:
- the 20th century (probably a general reference...)
- the belly of the beast
- CHAOS HEADQUARTERS
- lost in time and space

Wasn't blackcat the suspect for "the garden"?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWe have that one already; it's a song, see 0dd's and Maddy's posts above. I momentarily blanked when making the list; it's been removed.

Just now I saw Lu's location as "The Shades, Ankh-Morpork." If you want a Discworld version of Greece in the last couple of years I suppose that's a good choice.
The feud lives on.
