Avatars changing around?

Somehow, posters' avatars are getting switched to things not nin their galleries:

Which threads does this affect? Is there a way to opt out? I like HP Lovecraft's works, but I'd rather my avatar be the one I pick.

Also, I've noticed that scrolling up and down can make them change around again.

Even if you're avatar-less it switches the image. It's just smaller.

Seems to be affecting everyone.

It's affecting everyone. But you have to scroll around to get the effect. The first time you see or uncover an avatar, it's normal. Every time after that (i.e. if you scroll so it's off the screen in either direction, and then scroll back), it will have changed.

Yes it is.

Although I did have to remove my title for the moment, due to having it clash with the changed avatar.

Honestly, it's barely a Jump Scare the first time it happens and just weak every time after.

Also, never mind that it interferes with my own Halloween avatar plans.

I already picked out the current scariest avatar in my gallery.

And same as Balmung, but it's pretty amusing overall. I may disable it to make making topics easier to read, though.

Thanks to whoever put Cofagrigus in the avatar pool. You settled a discussion in the Pokemon thread over which Pokemon is the scariest.

It only works once you've passed the post, so theoretically, you might never notice it.

On the bright side, my Giratina related title works well enough with pretty much any of these "spooky" avatars.

You must have Javascript enabled on your browser for it to work. When you look at a post for the first time, the avatar is as usual. It changes when you scroll it off the screen and then go back.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.

Best Of is GLADOS. This is hilarious.

Speaking of, anyone know a chrome addon that works kinda like YesScript? You know, so anyone who doesn't want to see those avatars simply turns off javascript here and only here and all that jazz?

Just blocked it in the settings.

Edit: Or not. Dammit. If it blocks the avatar change script, it also blocks the edit script. Well played Eddie, well played.
