... Good point. Though personally, while I actually like Marvel's Spider-Man, that specific point had me scratch my head from the beginning. I mean, as you said, you could argue Spider-Man's case had people ignore all the way this was going against the legal right of any human, but the episode had him take zookeepers hostage and threaten to throw them to lions. And then in Spider Island he shows up to hunt innocent people turned into giant spiders. How is he not in jail yet after that?
I think Marvel USA has a "superpowered people have no rights" law somewhere. And let's not talk about Canada.
Wake me up at your own risk.I think Marvel Canada has a Superhuman Law, but it's closer to registering your car or weapon. In fact, Marvel Canada told Marvel USA that their superhuman laws were one step closer to registering mutants and conscripting child soldiers.
When Marvel Canada tells you to slow your roll you know you've fucked up
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSo, Black Panther's Quest came and went and....no one here watched it.
Anyway, there's no better place to post this, but this video came out recently. It talks about that Captain Marvel pitch for her own animated series from last year. It also confirms what we know about Marvel Animation shutting down and being a mess.

Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I did, just didn't post about it.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Marvel Canada!
Dr. Doom: When people speak of dictatorships, they impugn my Latveria...small-minded fools. None know the sheer darkness, horror, and degradation that lives...within Canada.

"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"It’s both amusing & sad how low-key we all are about the show.
....... Even to the ones who actually watched it.
Compared this to Young Justice which has traction & is not apart of a falling down animation house.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."This show *has* to be popular with little kids. That's the only explanation I can think of for why it lived for so long.
Watched the video, so I'll provide a TL;DW list:
- The guy behind the pitch, Ben Bates, came up with a Captain Marvel show because he REALLY didn't like ANY of the shows that were coming from Marvel Animation, saying how they were doing it was out-of-touch (Someone on the inside didn't like the shows we were dissing? We thought we were the only ones! ).
- Bates originally wanted to have Carol be a secretary of security for Tony Stark, but couldn't go there after Spider-Man: Homecoming. Regardless, Carol was going to be buddies with Squirrel Girl and Spider-Woman.
- After getting help from a storyboard buddy (who didn't want to help, but did anyway because he was that much of a buddy), they pitched it to their boss on a lunch date. Turns out their boss has never done a pitch before.
- The boss said he would show it to Marvel at New York to see what they would say.
- After the lunch, Bates found out how Marvel Animation was stripping down. And Marvel NY wasn't interested in pitches.
- On the speculation side, Bates suspects that after that pitch, and because he told others about it, others bugged his boss with their own pitches, which made him miserable because he knew Marvel Animation was going under.
Incidentally, Squirrel Girl's appearance (proportion-wise) gives me a lot of Star vs. the Forces of Evil vibes. Not sure if it's coincidence or not.
But yeah, I guess I stopped watching AA since season 2 or 3 because it still had that unfinished feeling and was overall run-of-the-mill.
That said, we still are getting Marvel toons, albeit mature ones for Hulu. Beyond that, it's uncertain what'll happen from here on out. Maybe we'll hear something at SDCC or D23 Expo 2019. Maybe.
It was a pretty good pitch though
Showed it to someone who said Carol reminded them of Utena
Forever liveblogging the AvengersDo you think AA would have been anything better had it not changed things to match the movies all the time?
Wake me up at your own risk.Oh, certainly.
You'd think with all the Marvel/Disney money that Marvel Animation wouldn't go under but things are probably more complicated than that
35 year old white man.I honestly would like to see more of the various show alumni's opinions on the shows.
They always say "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything."
Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here.
It's what i liked about this season honestly. They even used Black Panther's adoptive brother White Wolf, who is nowhere to be seen in the film.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Honestly, I watched this show a little bit...
You know, enough with "This is only Jeph Loeb's fault!"! Disney XD's Marvel shows were made to promote the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At least they acknowledged (earlier) the Fantastic Four and the X-Men in this Marvel Animated Universe (they got more screentime in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.). And if it's someone to blame for this, it's Ike Perlmutter. He buried everything that wasn't part of the MCU (remember how he tried to immediately make The Inhumans superstars just so to drive people away from the X-Men Film Series and make 20th Century Fox give up and return the film rights for these characters to Marvel, which culminated in a TV series that had a horrible performance?).
It's sad that the FF never had their own series since 2006's Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes (BTW, this show was good in my opinion) and the X-Men since Wolverine and the X-Men in 2009...
Back to the subject, I understand why how many say "This show sucks!". Yeah, it's far from perfect, but that doesn't mean everything is Ruined FOREVER.
At least, if you don't like it, don't watch it, yes? And if you wonder how this show still continues, it's because of ratings and stuff.
And please, I do not want this thread derailed at all. I apologize if this post is offensive in any way...
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"And BTW, Marvel Animation closing? Hah! This. Is. Manufactured. At least, if that happened, Variety, Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, Cartoon Brew or any true news sites would have reported it.
"Scooby Dooby Doo!"I personally try to not blame Jeph Loeb too much. Poor guy had it rough, and I heard he was a fairly nice guy in life. I still disagee with how Marvel Animation was handled under him, but I don't feel like he deserves to be hated.
I think Jeph Loeb tries to make stuff his son would've liked.
This runs into problems when that might not result in the tightest plot or the best work being done.
Sign on for this After The End Fantasy RP.Why would those major news outlets besides Cartoon Brew even care? Cartoon Brew is hardly the bastion for credibility in the animation industry as well. How is it manufactured when the shows are getting cancelled and people in the industry are actually talking about it? It was first revealed by someone with connections and now it's confirmed by people that actually worked there.
All this really means is that Marvel won't have its own animation studio anymore and will be collaborating with other studios for future animated projects. They're already doing with Marvel Rising and are doing that with the Moon Girl and Hulu shows.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).While it's easy to doubt an animation insider blog (the name of which escapes me, but has been posted in this thread before), it's really damning when you get one of the storyboard artists talking about Marvel Animation being restructured.
It hasn't really helped that the shows get the bare minimum of advertising, which sort of lends credence to the idea that the network wants them over and done with, probably to focus on the Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur cartoon, or the smaller scale Marvel Rising shorts (which are shaping up to be a Soft Reboot, or even outright reboot of the animated universe, I think).

Just remembered that in the latest Spider-Man series, Kraven had a tv show about his hunting exploits. While you could give him a pass for going against Pete, given the usual "menace" reputation, he'd be ok, just trying to catch a criminal. Here, he is attacking a king of a foreign nation. I dunno, it probably won't matter much.
