Injustice: DC fighting games

I know it's not possible at this point, but given how Netherrealm was able to have characters from a Nickelodeon cartoon (TMNT) appear in a fighting game rated 13+ alongside guest characters from an 18+ game, I can't help but entertain myself with ideas for a DLC pack with Avatar characters as adults◊. I felt that I needed to get these out of my head somehow.

Aang (airbending) and Zuko (firebending) would be unique characters; Aang becauses there doesn't seem to be a DC character that wields air like Fujin in Mortal Kombat, and Zuko because he wields his powers while in his own Squishy Wizard human form instead of having a superpowered form like Firestorm. Azula could be a reskin of Zuko, ideally with Grey De Lisle reprising her role.

If Mera (manipulate water) and Terra (manipulate earth) are new characters in another Injustice game, then Katara and Toph could simply be reskins of them since their waterbending and earthbending powers are virtually identical to the DC characters'. If there's room for her, Korra would be unique by wielding all four elements as a Jack of All Stats characters; I imagine Aang being strictly limited to his airbending during gameplay, but wielding other elements during his Super Move in the Avatar State.

For the intro scenes, I imagine Aang sitting cross-legged and meditating in mid-air with each of the four elements orbiting around him, before being startled by the opponent, and then dropping to the ground and grabbing his staff. Another one would be him flying into the scene on his glider◊ and landing like Batman. Katara would be pulling water out of her canteen, while Toph would be making a rock angel◊ or emerging from a dust cloud. Zuko and Azula could enter the scene kicking and shooting flames◊ like Johnny Cage, before pausing to hold a flame in their hands like Shang Tsung. Azula's fire will be blue◊ instead of red.

The most fun mind game has been creating the pre-fight dialogue:

TMNT as a cartoon long predates any time they spent on Nickelodeon, so unless they own the rights to the TMNT in general, I'm not sure they're a good example of "if they could do this then..."

I'm not entirely sure if I want to see Avatar in Injustice either before they have their own good game.

There's also the fact I really put Avatar on a pedestal so high I don't exactly want them to be milk either.

The TMNT were comic book characters first, that's the key.

Super Smash Brothers is a thing. I don't see why others can't do the same.

I think due to relatively recent crossovers, the Strongest Man in the Universe and the Princess of Power seem more likely.

Smash started as a Nintendo crossover, but then, they are pretty big on the gaming industry and have a lot of associates they can ask for a guest. You are gonna need someone really good at negotiating to get more guests.

ViacomCBS, Nick's parent company, has owned Mirage Studios since 2009. It's why Injustice 2 and the animated Batman vs TMNT movie and comics have Nick's copyright and logo visibly seen.

I sincerely did not know that. Though the Batman/TMNT thing did occur to me a bit later.

I just got injustice 2 and wow does your opponent disconnecting not count as a win? A full 2/3 of my wins haven't been counted. It's completely obliterated my desire to fight online.

All games should register rage-quits as a win/loss, it's ridiculous that there are still games being made without that stipulation.

There was a particularly hard-fought one where I managed to tag someone at low health with Black Manta's super and it froze just as the animation was finishing. I understand how that person got a 2 to 1 win ratio now.

On a completely related note, I seem destined to always pick mid-tiers as my main. Not dropping Black Manta anytime soon. He's wicked cool.

I think Steel is on my wishlist for a hypothetical next game. It'd be cool to have a guy who's trying to reclaim the good spirit of Metropolis, plus he could both a replacement for Cyborg (since Superman's posse being the main villains three games in a row is kind of pushing it), and allow Netherrealm to use a few Shao Kahn maneuvers with him.

That's assuming there is a third game, natch, and not just a regular DC fighting game from Netherrealm. Though I wouldn't mind Steel in a game like that either.

I don't see why I3 wouldn't be a thing? Its more than likely it'll be a thing. And I'm pretty sure Constatine & Static will make the cut this time.

I really don't care who makes it in, but if none of the characters are going to get reworked as MK did then there's really no reason why everyone can't come back.

Yeah I do think there is going to be a final injustice game, probably with a story DLC like MK 11.

Being blunt here, that's probably for the best.

As much I enjoy the Injusticeverse the actual stories aren't as good as the comic books.

And maybe people aren't sick of Fallen Hero Superman, I'm pretty sure people can't handle unironic evil Wonder Woman. I don't think anyone could predict her movie would skyrocket her popularity.

On top of that, Tom Taylor just does a better job in general compare to whoever it is in NRS. Not helping the matter, I2's story mode contradicts plenty of things that happen in the comics.

I feel like a fresh start is necessary for this.

I've seen people who are sick of trying to deconstruct Superman, as his entire character is that he is supposed to be that good of a person that he would go out of his way to fix a bike tire.

Seeing him become a dictator feels like a betrayal of what he is supposed to be. Heck, isn't deconstructing him the reason why the DCEU version of him is as controversial as it is?

Thing is, the comic did make a good job of showing superman falling into the deep end and people have give this more a fair share because is alternate universe, so they arent falling into this "that is not how superman would react" stuff.

I believe the people I've heard haven't read the prequel comics.

The games do a bad job of showing why Superman fell off the deep end this badly.
