Probably better to nix the sexual orientation badges than have an incomplete set or charge people of a certain orientation double by making them pay for two badges.

Though GIS offers great ideas, using them as inspiration would be plagiarism.

Before putting in the effort: A donkey and elephant are also bad ideas.

Not going to delete them from the list (yet), but ether way we should be able to keep the "rainbow flag" (if I am remembering its meaning correctly).

How about letting people use the namespace icons for their favorite types of work? And possibly a randomizer that grabs a random badge if they want several.

Here's the zodiac for those who want their sign or those who just like Homestuck. I'm pretty sure I got the colours right.

... I have never seen them portrayed like this o_O I can't even identify any of them.

Ooops. Got Pisces and Cancer wrong. Always do that, because the symbol for Cancer looks more like the two-fishes-swimming-in-opposite-directions than it does like a crab.

Maybe we could have a set of badges relating to our mood? Happy, bored, sad etc...

We already have the smilies, those could just be repurposed.

I like the idea of being able to line up multiple badges. Also, religious, sexual, and political badges are a bad idea.

Although we could shorten it by leaving some out. Still, how do you make a "Web Original" badge?

I'm cool with the sexuality badges, but religions and politics might be better left out. If we don't want the sexuality badges, at least we can have the rainbow flag.

Also, I'd definitely get that "I <3 OTC" badge that Lock made. And I'd get the football, too.

If we could have some fairly simple pun represented by a badge, people could give that out to Tropers who are great at making puns. Shame that the best punster that the forum has seen in my time here (Haven) has become inactive...

Someone asked for mod-awarded badges... Well, we might want to give out badges for people who are really active (and useful!) in IP or TRS, or people who do a great deal of grunt work in the Wiki (some of them don't go to the fora, though, so we'd have to encourage them to add their badge on their troper page or something.)

I might want to award some Tropers a badge for being good at re-railing OTC threads that go on tangents. I'd never earn that badge, myself, but I know that some people could.

Added the Zodiac affiliations and there are now 3 heart containers.

Some of those are easy (I suggested a video game controller—A joystick should work), but the others... yeah, no idea what should stand for "web original." (Though a demotivational image might work... black frame with a "image" at the top and white spots on the black at the bottom)

EDIT: three more "mod given" and one "give out" ideas added to the OP.

Yeah, video game controller, book, headphones/music note, comic book, multiple sided die, all of those are easy. The rest... not so much.

Well, when I think of western animation, I think of anvils. And even if you're not into western animation much, there's appeal to the anvil. We named two tropes after them, after all.

Actually, at the size we are talking about, think about the comic book or manga image. That one is not going to be easy.

For the punsters, may I suggest that we just give them a generic badge(r):

They're both comics though.

But the manga one can have an image of the Japanese aesthetic instead of an actual manga. Like Tsurime Eyes or Tareme Eyes.

For comic books, how about a Hit Flash that says Pow! or the like, a la Batman?
