Another example of why delayed games arent always good
Uni catGuess we got another one to add to the same pile as DNF, Daikatana and Mighty No 9

I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowIt really depends on the circumstances behind the delays. It is however true that a rushed game will generally not be as good as it could have been, even if the product that hits the market is still not too shabby.

Disgusted, but not surprisedStill, it makes you wonder how many are actually making good use of the delays and how many are merely taking Miyamoto's words so far to heart they punch right through the sternum. Some might even think the mere act of delaying a game in itself will make it good.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI don't think any of them were thinking of Miyamoto's words when they delayed their games, even if they did later pull out that quote to justify the delays.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, it really depends. Miyamoto said that because he was thinking of his own work; IIRC he persuaded Nintendo to delay Oo T multiple times because he thought it still needed work. It turned out to be a good decision.
The funny thing about Duke Nukem Forever, conversely, is that while the project was in limbo for several years, when Gearbox got their hands on it, they ironically rushed to finish it and put it out, and that's part of the reason why it was so underwhelming. Or that's what I heard.
A delayed game is good if the delays are due to you wanting to fulfill actually important goals such as fixing bugs and improving the gameplay mechanics and writing. If the delays are due to troubles with losing staff, switching publishers, attempting to build an entire new engine in house, switching to new engines that are unsuited for the game, throwing out the progress made every time new advancements in the gaming industry show up so that the new advancement can be included, adding more and more stretch goals to keep the crowdfunding gravy train going...
Gearbox finished DNF in one year. True, they were building on what 3D Realms had already done...but 3D Realms really hadn't done much.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI actually like Daikatana
Ukrainian Red CrossFound John Romero's account.
Uni catThanks, Miyamoto.
I'd add Kingdom Hearts 3 to that list.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Eh Final Fnatasy XV better belongs on that list than than KH 3.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."KH 3 had a normal development cycle. It wasn't delayed, fans just expected it earlier than they ever got around to making it. FFXV basically went through several cycles, and the last one which became the official release came out was by all accounts released prematurely relatively to when the work started.
and even if it did count, KH 3 fared the best of the games that were delayed or though to be delayed. Though it does make me wonder if the infamous Sonic 06 had any delays.

That's not remotely comparable, though.
KH 3 only started development in 2013. When it was announced, there had barely been any work done on it, to the point Nomura said that he felt they announced it too early, but that they wanted to do it so fans would have something to look forward to.
Now, Nomura had mentioned KH 3 in passing a few times before then, saying he had ideas for it, but it was never a formal announcement of any kind. Instead of doing KH 3 right away, they opted for various reasons to do all those other games that most people didn't think were that important, but KH 3 was never actively in development during that time. I'm not sure where this misconception comes from.
I don't think I've heard anything about Sonic 06 being delayed. Most of the time its about rushings out up the ass.
I mean yes I do know rushing a game out can easily lead to it getting bollocksed badly (the aforementioned Sonic 06, Mega Man X6) but I also mentioned Daikatana and Mighty No 9, which went through some really silly delays and still shat the bed upon launch.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowFire Bobby Kotick (The Jimquisition)
I wonder if a large enough backlash could actually result in him being removed from his position.
Probably not.
Only if the backlash threatened his ability to bring the shareholders money.
To paraphrase Viktor Reznov:
"Kotick, Wilson, Jorgensen, Soderlund... All must die..."
Or get eaten, that's relatively acceptable compared to what I really want to do to those greedy cu-[♪ SKELETON WARRIORS! ♫].
For now, I'll settle for the next, next best thing and hope Booker T wins that lawsuit against Activision. I can definitely dig that. As well as photoshopping Kotick's many smug mugs with a variety of demon horns/monstrous appendages and posting them online. (Not that it'll stop the dedicated gold-diggers, though even capricious gold-diggers may have standards once they realize the kind of s**t he does... Or be impressed, especially if they're as much of a sociopath as he is—that's just the kind of Crapsack World we live in.)
Also, damn. Iwata did believe in investing in his own employees.

Ukrainian Red Cross^^ Gotta memorize a list and repeat it like a mantra, Arya Stark-style.
You know, some say that anarchy is inherently bad, but I'm not entirely convinced it wouldn't be an improvement at this point.
Also, I miss Iwata. It's gonna suck when Miyamoto passes.
[EDIT]
Wait, Bobby Kotick complained that people photoshopped devil horns onto his picture? Because it causes dates to get awkward? That's fucking awesome. I laughed out loud when I read that. Also, there are people dating Bobby Kotick?
Yeah, can't say I feel too sorry for Bobby. Makes me want to photoshop some horns onto him myself. Hey, which is more vulgar, giving someone's picture devil horns or the Hitler mustache? And isn't it kinda sad I have to ask at this point? "Which is worse: being The Devil or being a literal Nazi?"
