Yeah. Even in universe Pat and Pyrrha would probably be ok with being retconned out.
Though I wonder if the Pat spite is so all consuming that Namco would have Sophi stop at having a daughter in order to satisfy Patrokles haters.
I truly do wonder if there's any way to save the current Pat though. All signs seem to point to know. I don't think there's any amount of suffering he could do that could undo that bad first impression he made.
One Strip! One Strip!I have no beef with Patroklos, but given all the damage and how he resents the fact that he doesn't have a mother, he was the best possible candidate for Soul Edge, and not Pyrrha. I wanted to know what were the writers thinking when they decided Patroklos would be the hero, and not Pyrrha.
Also, some stupid writing decisions, like offing Cassandra as well (Now really, was that really necessary??), or keeping Xianghua, Taki, Talim and Mi-Na out of the scene. Hell, Talim may have technically been the one who beat Algol for all I care thanks to her SCIV ending.

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Wasn't Raphael supposed to be the next host for Soul Edge at some point? I think in 2 his ending showed him claiming Soul Edge, and that was supposed to be the canon ending, but then nothing became of it?
No. He got Malfested after losing badly to Nightmare, but managed to land a critical blow into the sword, which made Nightmare get weaker and allowed Siegfried to finally take control back and finish Raphael's job when Soul Calibur appeared before him.
Note: This causes the Soul Embrace that kicks SCIII's plot into motion.

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Raphael becomes Nightmare in SCV. Followers of Soul Edge gathered enough fragments to reconstruct Soul Edge and used Raph's body as a host, which is why his Alias as Gran Dumas is much more political and strategic. Tira hated this version of Nightmare though and ditched him, choosing Pyhhra to be the next Nightmare that will bring the open carnage she fell in love with.
All of this was art book exclusive....Guide Dang It!.
I wish Nightmare had just kicked her ass instead.
Like she gets to decide who is and isn't Nightmare. I always thought that was stupid.
One Strip! One Strip!I can understand why Taki was away from a story perspective since she is clear in another country on a mission of her own.
Xianghua should have been a playable Character since I would assume she would be looking for her daughter.

More or less my sentiment. Although, I'm very curious to know why you like Pat?
The whole point was to show that Soul Calibur/Elysium was just as dangerous as Soul Edge. Which was stupid since that's all they did.
That's honestly why I want this time travel to be a thing. Soul Calibur has enough mysticism to make that work. Which technically happen in V but that was really dumb. The point is since they don't have the guts to age up their characters they might as well introduce (if they ever care) the cast of V like this. It would be waste not just Pyrrah to not interact her mother but for the rest of the cast to not have a chance to interact with their predecessor as well.
That would be surprisingly in-character for them
I truly do wonder if there's any way to save the current Pat though. All signs seem to point to know. I don't think there's any amount of suffering he could do that could undo that bad first impression he made.
If they take that route then I'm gonna lose a lot of respect for them. I want to give Pat a chance as much as the next guy but they reap what sow, but if Pyrrah got to suffer the same fate then they're just being dicks for that one. There still something salvageable for all of them.
I personally like Pyrrah because she was the next host for Soul Edge. She save Patroklos from Nightmare which was one of the very few tims Soul Edge was used in a virtue way. It would've been interesting take to see a host of Soul Edge be used for good if Pyrrah was actually allowed to be The Hero
Cassandra isn't dead, her fate is ambiguous when she try recover Sophitia's body. She's supposed to be in the Astral Chaos or something.
And Talim didn't beat Algol. Algol was fighting Mitsurugi but their fight was interrupted.
Yet another aspect of V that made incredibly irritated. Especially when that information wasn't even available to the west. Correct if I'm wrong about this.
Like she gets to decide who is and isn't Nightmare. I always thought that was stupid.
Tira isn't this deciding factor, she had to set up an elaborate plan for Pyrrah to be the next the Nightmare.
Xianghua should have been a playable Character since I would assume she would be looking for her daughter.
Well that was the story reason why Taki wasn't in the game. The other reason is much more shallow than that.
I agree that Xianghua should've still been playable.

The artbook has indeed been translated for the west, it's just that it can be a bit tricky to get ahold of. I have a copy myself.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Why did Tira think that Pyrrha, who has the same personality as Fluttershy, is the perfect person to be host for Soul Edge?
Easy; She's weak willed and also tainted by the sword since Tira kidnapped her long ago. a shard of Soul Edge also rests inside her; without the swords energy in the world she'd likely die before sophitia made her sacrifice (?) at IV's end. The reason why Sophitia was defending Soul Edge in 4 was because of the threat of Pyhrras death.
And then Tira made sure to make her life a living hell by stalking her, killing everyone who would give them a warm home and framing her as an assassin (because the ring blade Tira uses belonged to a notorious group of assissins, the marks the weapons leave behind being a calling card of sorts.)
@agent-trunks
Because in the latter half of the story, I feel like he does ultimately realise his flaws and seeks to improve himself from them, even if in the former half he was utterly unlikable because of them.
Granted, it took literal time travel for him to realise his biggest flaw, but still. He's always had the dedication needed, but he's been lacking any real guidance for the longest time.

Maybe, but judging from the amount of hate he still gets, it made little difference.
No rescues from this scrappy heap it seems.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, it doesn't help that he's not just The Scrappy: he's the main among dozens of Replacement Scrappies in the game.
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Like I stated, the way he had a 180 was too abrupt and depends heavily on Deus ex Machina so even fans are bitter on that too.
Oh yeah he definitely sucks, hahah.
I just like him regardless, and I agree the first half is like, unreasonably poor. His debut would be more fitting for a villain than the main hero, for one!

Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...As bad as Pat was, Xiba is worse.
Man, it's hard to describe how badly they really dropped the ball with most of the newcomers.
They range from "Pointless replacement" like Lexia to "Unlikeable useless dumbass" like Patroklos to "Animu archetype wannabe" like ZWEI. Even Viola somehow manages to be a Replacement Scrappy for Rachel even though they might be the same person.
Honestly, the one newcomer I've kinda warmed up to is Natsu thanks to Project X Zone and even I understand the hate sent in her direction.
Resetting everything wasn't a good move, it was the only one.

Bleye knows Sabers.I dunno any Rachel in SC. You mean Amy?
Rachel? You mean Amy?
Viola and ZWEI get some hate for their designs sure but atleast they have something to bring to the table with new fighting styles.
Xiba is a pointless replacement for Kilik... since Kilik's in the FUCKING GAME
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole! The worse part would be that most of them thanks to the story mode not being finished couldn't even make much of an impression or impact in their first game. They never had much of a chance to begin with.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaOh right Rachel was my CAC using Amy's movest back in SCIII.
Haha (Facepalm) but yes Amy.
I always found ZWEI to be a funny counterpart of Viola design wise. Both character debut in the same game, and Viola's whole schtick involves a magic ball that she can control at will. Meanwhile, SWEI gets a giant half wolf half moon demon familiar he can control at will. It's like SWEL heard someone he knew was going to be at a party he was going to and he decided he needed to one-up her.
Speaking of SWOL I find it funny that the wiki lists him as "Presumed dead" and due to disinterest it's possible that Disney Villain Death will actually stick which is hilarious in my opinion. That's what happens when you introduce a "mysterious badass" character and don't actually have any substance behind the mystery beyond being mysterious.

Bleye knows Sabers.ZWEI its Just ZWEI
Honestly I never had problem with ZWEI's design since he's just Maxi with a Violet color scheme
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!
I'd actually prefer the story to be like that, a full reboot. SCV messed up things beyond repair by trying to extend the story beyond what was supposed to be its final chapter (SCIV). This one can fix it.
