Would "No all-caps or bold texting" be a good rule to add to the page?

[up] Yes, it would.

Does DMOS have curators? I know the other volatile pages do, but I'm not sure about this one.

One of the options in the crowner is to hand moderator powers for that specific namespace. Is there enough consensus for that, or is +2 not considered enough?

And thank you, Madrugada. I nuked a couple of more entries that were non-moments.

16/14 is not a consensus.

Mod powers applicable to only one wiki namespace is a lot is grief and hassle for Eddie to code. That won't be likely to happen, even if it gets a much stronger consensus.

And it wouldn't really change anything, exvept to perhaps slow down response time. Right now, reporting a problem in Ask The Tropers or via Holler gets a response from whichever mod sees it first. Making a dedicated DMOS mod would mean that it still has to be reported, but it would wait for that one person to do something, whenever they finally see the report.

All Caps and Excessive Bolding are already covered in Bold Inflation and How Not to Write an Example.

Understandable.

However, do we know someone in specific who curates DMOS? That seems to be necessary, at least.

Oh, and the NO ASSCAPS rule suggested above would really improve this page.

I would go No ASSCAPS, no bold, and no italics unless it's the title of a work. That makes people have to explain things rather than just cop out with formatting.

Agree that hyperbolic language should be banned from Dethroning Moment of Suck. Should we add that rule to the DMOS pages?

Curation and modding are two distinct jobs(?) (positions? responsibilities? I'm not sure what the best word here is. I think maybe "responsibilities").

I don't know who, if anyone is curating DMOS. "Curator" isn't an official position. One way to see if there's a troper acting as a curator is to take a prowl through the various page histories and see if one or more name(s) keep(s) popping up making valid clean-up edits, either regularly over an extended period of time, or intermittently (for instance, I curate Badass Longcoat. If you look back through the history (it will take some time — the history is almost 500 edits long and reaches back to August of 2010.), you'll see that I've made a lot of edits that were either removing bad examples, denattering, or tidying up the page in general. That's what the edit history of a curated page will tend to look like.) All of the mods can take action there if they're made aware of a problem.

[up] Oh, I know, I was just wondering if someone had said they take care of it. I may try to help there.

I agree with Shimaspawn. Should we add a note at the page and then take out hyperbolic text speak?

I've added this disclaimer to all pages:

  • No ASSCAPS, no bold, and no italics unless it's the title of a work. We are not yelling the DMoSs out loud.

I don't suppose we can have an official "No New Complaint Pages" policy? I mean, creating new subpages of existing pages would be okay, I guess, but we keep getting new "tropes" being proposed that basically amount to "Dethroning Moment Of Suck Times One Thousand", "Lets Find A New Way To Complain About A Very Specific Issue", "Trope X But Done Badly", "Fridge Suck", "Yet Another Way To Import Fandom Drama To TV Tropes" etc.

[up]Bring that into the YKTTW thread - we really don't need any more complaining pages. Or just YKTTW it already - No New Complaint Pages.

Kill it, Catbert. Kill It with Fire.

And I'm totally YKTTW'ing No More Complaints or something like that. I'll put every other of my YKTTW on hold, and make this because we really need it.

Discarded, but it might be better to put this topic to the YKTTW thread.

I think it might be better as it's own thread rather than derailing the YKTTW.

^Ya mean "YKTTW thread"?

Should we create a new Wiki Talk thread for a no new complaint pages policy?

Yes, that's what I meant. A new wiki talk thread would be good. This is discussing a new wiki policy.
