Looks fairly clean to me.
Optionally you might consider:
- Should we remove examples that are basically "oh, yeah, I've done that", without actually telling a story about how the trope occurred in the troper's life?
- IMHO, getting good grades and not acting intelligently 24/7 doesn't prove you're Obfuscating Stupidity. Obfuscators know exactly what they are doing and only behave stupidly deliberately. The Cloudcuckoolander acts oddly because that's just who they are.
- Do we want to divide out examples to break the monotony like so? (thanks for your recent edit to that page, BTW).
Speaking of which, I am struggling a bit with the cuckoolander tales because it's so long. Any suggestions?

Rape As Comedy, Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique,Gainaxing, Stalker With A Crush, Comic Sutra, Beautiful All Along, Insufferable Genius
I am taking these, for they had no curators, or no alternate pages. They will be on my watch list as well.

Troper PageFrodo, that's where I was running into questions. A bunch of the examples I left aren't really clear on whether it's deliberate or simply "I have mannerisms that lead to people thinking I'm less intelligent than I am".
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.My instinct is to clear those out, because Obfuscating Stupidity requires deliberate use, and we want to clear out the marginal examples, but I'm not sure how the fast one or the other contributors feel about this.
Personally I'm tempted to (but for now I won't) also clear out:
- Troper Works, except roleplaying sessions, school reports, etc. which may not be appropriate for a troper works page.
- Secondhand tales (i.e., my roommate told me he knew a guy who was a perfect example of this trope.)
- Anonymous stories: if you have to admit who you are, it makes you a bit less likely to exaggerate, admit illegal activities, etc.

I think I need a little help. See, I want to help curate the TroperTales.Fan Hater page, but I don't know how to go about, well, curating the page. Is it supposed to be about the tropers themselves being the Fan Hater, or is it supposed to be about tropers observing this behavior exhibited by someone else?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.I've been splitting those out within the page as seen here.
^^ Either one qualifies, but for the "I am..." ones you need to weigh the amount of bile and negativity in the entry. I'd say the threshold for cutting on the grounds of "Too much bile" should be fairly low.
Something like "I realized that I was avoiding [x work] because a couple of guys I really don't get along with were big fans of it." would be fine.
But "The fans of [x work] really tick me off. I hate having to listen to it all day and I wish that they would all just STFU and go away." is more about spewing bile than talking about the trope (even though it's also a textbook example of the trope ).

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I would vote to leave secondhand stories in. As long as it's an actual example, it shouldn't really matter whether the person telling the story was there to witness it or not. Just my opinion.
I'm trying to folderize on one page and came across something so badly/vaguely written I have no idea what happened. Delete it?
The child is father to the man —OedipusIf there's really no way to tell if it's an example or not, I'd cut / move it to the discussion page.
I forgot to ask:
What do we do with X Just X entries? In short, entries that are nothing more than:
- This is so true for This Troper
- Me Too
- And Me
- Are you guys my long lost twins?
- Subverted by me though
etc...

Everything can be found on the Internet... except common sense.I ended up cutting it
I suppose it depends on the trope, but if there's no substance you may as well kill it. I believe we're going for "an example needs to be an example even in Troper Tales."
I've done (so far) Acceptable Lifestyle Targets and Accidental Pervert, if anyone has any
I noticed in doing that last one that for all people on the other thread were like "this TT page is terrible, people bragging about what badasses they are and sticking 'and own a coat' on the end!" there was only one entry about the person and not the garment. And it's not like the page had been cleaned recently.

The child is father to the man —OedipusI've been curating the Badass Longcoat page for over a year now, and hammering pretty hard on "It's about the Garment, not how badass the person is." I guess it trickled over to the Troper Tales page as well.
X Just X isn't an example. Not on a main page, not on a Troper Tales page.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'll happily leave it in your capable hands. I assumed from the fact that it was on the crowner that a problem had been observed, and I didn't see anyone saying they were taking care of it.
The child is father to the man —OedipusI hadn't been paying attention to the Troper Tales page for it. Sorry if it sounded that way. I can certainly add it my list — my other ones are low traffic, and you've got some big ones.
There were a bunch of pages that were put on the crowner by people who considered the whole idea of Troper Tales to be a blight that needed to be erased completely.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That was me. I added innocuous pages like Scribblenauts and Idiot Programming because I wanted to see if people were just voting up any TT page on the list. They weren't - everything I added ended up in the red.
Also, are Shotacon and Boomerang Bigot staying? Why?
edited 13th Feb '11 6:58:16 PM by Redhead
The new It Just Bugs Me!Shotacon has only one example, and it's basically a "me too".
I think we can salvage Boomerang Bigot:
-
I'm an X, but not a Y, and I HATE people who are Y (where Y is a subset of X)=> CUT: Not an example. - I'm an X, and I
HATEtend to dislike people who are X, and that fact really bothers me.I wish all X were dead but me.=> Cut the Vitriol, keep the example, it's valid. - I knew a guy who didn't like X, but he found out he was X. He still has trouble with it.
What an idiot!=> Cut the Vitriol, Keep the example, it's valid.

They may be salvageable, hell, they probably are salvageable, but you could say the same thing about Gag Penis or Noble Bigot.

The new It Just Bugs Me!They are gone, so let's move on with what remains rather than go "but, but X"
Troper PageNot until you tell me why one page should be cut but another that's nearly identical in nature should stay.
The new It Just Bugs Me!Because that's the way the voting went. Redhead, you complained all the way through the process. You didn't persuade enough people then, and complaining now isn't going to change anything.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Because I haven't got around to them, yet.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
I just finished going through TroperTales.Obfuscating Stupidity. Care to take a look and see if there's more that can go?
