Jacobi's War Master is really really good. His most recent outing, Master of Callous was great, though what I found to be its best part didn't really have him at all (all in all he's actually really only in like half of that set).

I get the sense they didn't want to do a repeat of Only the Good in regards to story structure, and given the character's effective presence as a dark background influence in the Sky Man, they might have figured expanding that concept to a whole set would keep him highlighted without having him be the active protagonist again. I suspect War Master volume 3 will likely have him front and center once more with Eight as the hero antagonist.

Yeah, probably. I'll be surprised if War Master 3 isn't (at least a little) more upbeat than 2. With the Doctor involved and everything.

I did like the little cameo from Narvin at the end of 2 as well and the appearance of the Master's Chameleon Arch.

Since we're on the subject of audios, a podcast I've mentioned before, Who Back When, just today released their first audio Who review in a while. They're discussing the Big Finish Doctor Who story "The Eight Truths & Worldwide Web" with the Eighth Doctor and Lucie Miller.

https://whobackwhen.com/a020-eight-truths-worldwide-web/

Their classic review say just finished Planet of the Spiders, finishing off the Third Doctor's time.

Im still behind on the 8th Doctor and Lucy era. But I do hope to have those soon, maybe in time for the further adventures of Lucy Miller.

I did recently pick up a whole mess of 4th Doctor stuff because it was on sale. 4 seasons and the audio adaptation of Well Mannered War.

Between that and the crazy sales Big Finish was having after Christmas I'm kinda drowning in audio dramas.

I did really enjoy King of Sontar, though.

And I'm still behind on the 13th Doctor episodes, having only watched one episode called The Woman Who Fell To Earth.

In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!

A blog post that might be with a read given the back and forths about how since thought this the worst season ever. It's about the mixed reactions things like a new showrunner can get.

Obviously these people have never seen the Colin Baker years.

Well I'm referring mainly to at least one person, who shall go unnamed right now, constantly trying to convince everyone that this season was the End Times and had the reduced ratings to prove it.

No one bad season of Doctor Who is gonna kill this show, this show survived Colin Baker's two seasons.

I mean, that's less a case of "it survived" and more "it bled to death very, very slowly."

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

'scuse me. Just quickly popping in to ask this, because I gotta confirm that I didn't imagine that.

Did Missy really just get a spin-off?

A Big Finish audio spin-off, yes.

Oh, ok. I thought it was an Adventures Of Sarah Jane-style tv spinoff.

Colin's first series has a few good stories in it, particularly Vengeance on Varos and Revelation of the Daleks, and the Trial of a Time Lord is fun viewing, even the serial Chibnall was infamous for taking to task is miles better than anything he wrote for Jodie.

Anyone dissapointed we never saw how the 12th Doctor finish the calculation to save Gallifrey as a Call-Back to his first appearance? I was assuming we would and that would be how he ends up back home

alliterator Since: Jan, 2001
#103847: Mar 13th 2019 at 12:57:01 PM

What calculation? He showed up to help the other Doctors seal Gallifrey in a pocket dimension. The only calculation I remember was from their Sonic Screwdrivers to break down the door and that was a joke, since Clara just opened the door.

HalfFaust Since: Jan, 2019
#103848: Mar 13th 2019 at 2:03:21 PM

That was the calculation; they had to calculate... something to freeze Gallifrey, which took hundreds of years (and thus multiple incarnations) to calculate.

kkhohoho Since: May, 2011
#103849: Mar 13th 2019 at 2:05:01 PM

I always assumed that the calculation was finished with Eleven seeing as he, Ten, and War started it. Twelve just helped out.

alliterator Since: Jan, 2001
#103850: Mar 13th 2019 at 4:00:28 PM

Yeah, I think that the calculations were done by the time of the Eleventh Doctor. Here is the scene:

The War Doctor: Just about ready to do it.

Gallifreyan General: Ready to do what?

The Eleventh Doctor: We're going to freeze Gallifrey.
Gallifreyan General: I'm sorry, what?
The Tenth Doctor: Using our TARDISes, we're gonna freeze Gallifrey in a single moment in time.
The War Doctor: You know, like those stasis cubes? A single moment in time held in a parallel pocket universe.
The Eleventh Doctor: Except we're going to do it to a whole planet.
The Tenth Doctor: And all the people on it.
Gallifreyan General: What? Even if that were possible—which it isn't—why would you do such a thing?
The Eleventh Doctor: Because the alternative is burning.
The Tenth Doctor: And I've seen that.
The Eleventh Doctor: And I never want to see it again.
Gallifreyan General: We'd be lost in another universe. Frozen in a single moment. We'd have nothing.
The Eleventh Doctor: You would have hope. And right now that is exactly what you don't have.
Gallifreyan General: It's delusional! Why, the calculations alone would take hundreds of years!
The Eleventh Doctor: Oh, hundreds and hundreds.
The Tenth Doctor: But don't worry. I started a very long time ago.
[The camera zooms past the attacking Dalek fleet to reveal another TARDIS flying into scene]
The First Doctor: Calling the War Council of Gallifrey: This is the Doctor!
[The Doctor's other incarnations fly their TARDISes towards Gallifrey.]
The Eleventh Doctor: You might say, I've been doing this all my lives.
