  • Awesome Music:
    • "The Space Between Stars" is a very relaxing piece which allows you to calmly decorate the tower to your heart's content.
    • "Chaos Reigns" is the complete opposite, being an intense and urgent rising track which perfectly accompanies the imminent danger of the Apocalypse arriving. The ending riff that plays when you make it back to the tower is particularly satisfying, as it lets you know for sure that you're safe and sound and can take a sigh of relief.
    • "Take Your Shot" is a pulse-poundingly high-octane track which provides excellent music to Rider battles and the difficulty they provide.
  • Breather Level: The Imperium winds up becoming this after you unlock all the other regions, as it's a lot easier to travel through with no harmful terrain and there's not a Demonic Spider in sight.
  • Demonic Spiders:
    • Gunslingers aren't so bad by themselves, but in the groups that they're normally encountered in they become lethal since they have a multitude of projectile attacks and have decent agility, meaning they can dodge your bullets while ganging up on you and dealing tons of damage.
    • Emissaries of Chaos are the second-toughest Chaos creatures, and that's likely because they have a ton of health, a hard-to-dodge area-of-effect attack and the ability to throw newborn Chaos Mites at you. They're at least manageable by themselves, but in a chaotic firefight with 20 other Chaos creatures it can be hard to focus them down when they absolutely demand to be focused to stop them from rapidly destroying terrain.
    • Kingsguard are deceptively agile for how big they are and have a ludicrously fast Dash Attack which can take off a huge chunk of your health bar if you fail to dodge it, and they're always accompanied by highly-aggressive black Vulfs which can easily distract you long enough that the Kingsguard themself can deliver a Coup de GrĂ¢ce.
    • Pirate Cannons are so, so much worse than normal Mechana Guardians, because while the latter has an easily dodgeable mortar attack with no lasting effects, a Pirate Cannon's attack is fire-based with a huge radius and leaves behind lingering flames, meaning they can quickly turn large swaths of land into an impassable inferno. Not to mention where there's one there's usually two or three, meaning you'll have to locate them and take them out quickly to avoid dying a fiery death.
    • Mage Hunters live up to their terrifying epithet, as they have incredibly fast rapid-fire attacks that are more than capable of reducing your healthbar to atoms and will relentlessly pursue you unlike other foes. Oh, and they usually come in groups, making them even harder to avoid, and they have an Elite variant which is even stronger.
  • Difficulty Spike: The game isn't all that difficult if you follow normal progression...until you reach Koleye, at which point you start encountering biomes filled with dangerous enemies and the terrain itself starts becoming a hindrance. Then you get to Alders, which is a Death World where all the enemies are capable of killing you in a handful of hits and standing in one spot for too long causes you to burst into flame.
  • Goddamn Bats:
    • Phibbs are annoying little creatures which can be found everywhere in the Fell, and will always hock a single projectile at you before running away if you get too close. While the damage is negligible, getting hit by constant Phibb spit is a great way to start losing valuable potions to sheer attrition.
    • Cactus Hermit Crabs do almost no damage, have a single easily-avoidable attack where they charge at you in a straight line and can often be one-shot, but because you can't go two freaking feet in the Barren Sea without encountering six of them and they have a tendency to swarm up on you, you'll find yourself cussing a blue streak every time you accidentally aggro one while you were trying to talk to an NPC or craft something.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Comparing the game's wizard characters to the Shadow Wizard Money Gang meme has become very popular, especially since the game's Shadowed Face, Glowing Eyes character design means that many of its characters heavily resemble said Shadow Wizards themselves. It would eventually get official recognition within the game in the form of the "Shadow Money" costume.

  • That One Component:
    • The herbs needed to brew specific potions and poisons are usually a pain in the ass to get, as most of the time they only grow in one specific biome and if you need to craft multiple different ones you'll have to trudge to all four corners of the map, which wastes precious time that you'll have to buy yourself.
    • Arcana becomes this in the late game, as the Arcana requirements need for upgrades goes up so exponentially that unless you're stockpiling thousands of the stuff in Arcana Banks you'll only be able to level up one or two upgrades at a time, forcing you to make countless excursions out into the shatter to farm Dormant Rifts with diminishing returns, or brave the clusterfuck that is the Apocalypse and try to harvest Arcana from the 30 Emissaries of Chaos all attacking you at once in order to get a worthwhile amount.
  • That One Level: Alders is a nightmare to traverse, as it's filled to the brim with deadly crabs and Mage Hunters and the sand itself can kill you, as well as you constantly getting harassed by Hermit Crabs and Pirate Cannons which just makes exploring the region that much more difficult. It's also the only place where you can load up on Sandstone and Steel, so you'll have to go to the area for resources once you unlock level IV bullets.
