• Memetic Mutation: "Still better than The Last of Us Part II!" ^Explanation  Before the latter game's polarizing reception; this was easily considered Naughty Dog's worst game.
• Narm:
  • The bosses; High Abbot is a very goofy-looking dragon, while Kull is a silly giant skeleton that wears a deer's fur, and wields a disproportionately tiny hammer.
  • The Ninja's Reverse Hara-Kiri finisher is hilariously mispronounced as the "Reverse Harry Caray!"
• So Bad, It's Good: While this game is not in the same league of fellow Mortal Kombat clones Eternal Champions or especially Killer Instinct, but nevertheless it is considered better than most Mortal Kombat imitators of the time due to a combination of decent stage background and other artwork (for the time at least), Bathos and cheesy voice acting, and a rocking soundtrack by Rob Zombie. ^note Naughty Dog staff were said to be listening to White Zombie's La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume 1 for inspiration during the making of the game, which led to making the entire soundtrack licensed songs from the album
• They Copied It, So It Sucks!: The game is criticized for being a rip-off of Mortal Kombat, due to sharing the same control schemes and Digitized Sprites.
• WTH, Costuming Department?: The secret boss, Gulab Jamun wears a pillowcase for underpants, making him look silly and out of place, compared to the rest of the characters.
