YMMV / Vertical Limit

• Harsher in Hindsight: K2 was well-known as one of the deadliest mountains in the world when this movie came out. The events of the 2008 season did not improve its reputation.
• Moral Event Horizon: Vaughn crosses it with the revelation that he stole Wick's wife's dex, resulting in her dying from edema.
• Narm: To some people, the shot of Royce Garrett hitting the ground is unintentionally comedic and ruins the Downer Beginning.
• Retroactive Recognition: The film has a remarkably high number of cast members recognizable from major sci-fi franchises. Besides Bill Paxton (The Terminator, Aliens), there's Alexander Siddig and Nicholas Lea (Dr. Bashir from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Krycek from The X-Files, respectively), Robert Taylor (Agent Jones from The Matrix), and Temuera Morrison and Ben Mendelsohn before their major roles in Star Wars.
• Special Effect Failure: Scenes filmed on the cliff's edge, like the helicopter drop and Monique's attempted rescue of Cyril, are obviously filmed in front of a greenscreen due to their flat backgrounds and poor lighting.
  • The Downer Beginning is somewhat ruined by the shot of Royce's "body" hitting the ground, becasue it's so obviously a dummy that it becomes nearly impossible to take seriously.
