• Harsher in Hindsight: While Marge has a We Want Our Jerk Back! reaction to Homer's improved nature, Bart likes "the new dad" and is a little more ambivalent about the inevitable Snap Back ("Whatever"). The Simpsons Movie would show that he desperately craves consistency and patience, to the point of fixating on Ned as a Parental Substitute and preferring him to Homer.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: During the gay pride parade, Marge hears Patty and Smithers, hidden each in their own closets, proclaiming that they're gay and proud of it. Season 16's "There's Something About Marrying" would see Patty coming out as gay.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: As mentioned on the main page, there's a Take That! against Ed O'Neill's difficulty in trying to find another acting job after Married... with Children's cancellation with him appearing in a crummy children's movie about a soccer-playing mummy. Naturally, this joke has become dated with O'Neill's career revival after starring in Modern Family.
• Memetic Mutation: The newspaper with the headline "Local Man Ruins Everything" (complete with an image of Homer riding a donkey backwards into a cake while waving an American flag).
• Values Dissonance: Both relating to the gay pride parade:
  • The "Lesbians of the Caribbean" float sings "yo ho, yo ho, it's an alternative lifestyle for me". Calling something a "lifestyle" indicates that one has chosen it. As such, calling homosexuality a "lifestyle" is now often associated with the view that it can be "cured".
  • Homer being ashamed of his "keg" upon seeing the "Fab Abs" float, and having it being covered up by a disgusted effeminate man ("Oh, God, cover up!") when he shows it off. Nowadays, Homer's figure would be embraced by the bear and chub subcultures.
