• Animation Age Ghetto: Definitely avoided the ghetto. The main characters are children living through the horrors of war. While most of the violence is toned down, there is still plenty of (mostly offscreen) death, dead bodies, explosions, and plenty of parental worries, all of which is treated maturely.
• Complete Monster: Durand is a resident of the small French town of Grangeville. After the town is occupied by the Nazis, Durand becomes a traitorous collaborator. Durand vows to root out Jews and French citizens who are disloyal to the Vichy regime. When a group of children who name themselves the Robinsons start to resist the Nazis, Durand tries to expose them and have them arrested by the Nazis. Durand manages to get their teacher Mr. Herbin arrested. Durand turns in a Jewish teenager who refuses to wear the Star of David badge to the Nazis and is thus sent to a death camp. Durand ultimately finds the Robinsons' clubhouse in the woods and informs the Nazis of it, happy that the Nazis intend to kill everyone there.
• Epileptic Trees: The Long Long Holiday takes place in the same universe as one-shot series Spirou: Hope Despite Everything. Both are set during WWII with one in France and in Belgium the other. Also, the artist for both works is Émile Bravo.
• Friendly Fandoms: As per Periphery Demographic, a number of fans of the show are teenagers and adults who still enjoy a good World War II story, intrigued by its ability to handle dark subject matter in a way palatable for kids. Said fans are also naturally fans of the history Power Metal band Sabaton, and have mashed up Sabaton songs to clips of the show to create Animated Music Video compliations that have reached millions of views, with comments praising the show.
• Like You Would Really Do It: In episode 3, Colette has a moment of this when she gets caught in the middle of a Luftwaffe strafing run trying to save Muddy and is seemingly gunned down. Of course, she survives this.
• Moral Event Horizon:
  • If Hans didn’t cross this by exploiting the town and eating Muddy he definitely crossed this when he killed the Morteau's dog and planned to kill Mrs. Morteau.
  • Durand crossed this many times when trying to have the Robinsons arrested by the Nazi’s and his actions leading to the arrest and death of Sparrowhawk.
  • Pierre almost crosses this when he planned to execute Otto and the other German prisoners out of revenge. He is fortunately stopped only when Gaston and Colette threaten to never forgive him and Robert taking the gun and protecting Otto.
• Periphery Demographic: The show is targeted towards older kids and features a young main cast with animation akin to other children's shows. However, its ability to avert the Animation Age Ghetto by treating its young audience with maturity and respect for their capacity to understand the perils of World War II without excessive violence has caused a lot of its fans to be teenagers and adults who are just fans of World War II stories in general, not minding or even outright respecting its ability to tell a compelling story for younger ages regarding the deadliest conflict in human history.
• What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: The show shows plenty of violent situations accurate to the realities of World War II, and its targeted to a younger audience.
  • While never shown onscreen, many characters are shown to die, such as Sparrowhawk, Antoine, and Durand.
  • In Episode 3, the Robinsons come across the body of a dead woman and find her baby. They later come across a dead soldier.
  • An awful lot of gunfire is shown across the series.
  • The scene where Sparrowhawk is shown dying on the tree has blood on his face.
