YMMV / Technoblade

  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Techno planned to invoke this after learning that his right arm might have to be amputated in order to eliminate the cancer growths there — without telling anyone about the amputation, he was going to release his second "elbow reveal" video, only to reveal the stump where his arm would've been. Fortunately, this fell through when he learned his arm no longer had to be amputated — however, the mere fact that he planned on doing this can count in and of itself, between Techno lampshading the probable trauma it'd cause viewers and actually being a little upset that he couldn't do this after all.
      • Techno also stated he had another plan to invoke this just around a minute into the same video. When he was talking with his surgeon, he said that the "vibe" he was getting from the talk was that it was likely that he had to have his arm amputated. Techno follows this by saying that he was responding to this like anyone would—which was to make a Google Doc to write down all the possible dark jokes he could make following the amputation.
    • Techno asked his father to title the video announcing his own death "so long nerds", and even went as far as to make merch off of it. Also doubles as a Tear Jerker because of his untimely death.
  • Fan Nickname: People call Technoblade "Techno".
  • Game-Breaker: In the second Minecraft Ultimate, Technoblade used the Material Lucky Blocks to his advantage. The Material Lucky Blocks have a 1/50 chance to get him a diamond; having many of those means he can craft diamond armor, which is the best in the game, and one of the reasons why Techno's team won.
    • In the same event, the Elytra combined with his teammates' bows and arrows. This combo allowed Technoblade to swoop over to the nearest group of players and start attacking them with swords while his teammates shot them.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • A lot of the jokes about his Schedule Slip and total absence between June 21st and August 27th 2021 became a lot less funny after he revealed that he'd been diagnosed with cancer, and had been on chemo for some time. It gets even harsher after the video announcing his passing, due to the last Schedule Slip being unfortunate enough to be taken to its logical extreme.
    • His catchphrase "Technoblade never dies" becomes sadly ironic, as he died from cancer at the tragically young age of twenty-three.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: "Technoblade never dies" was a line Techno used whenever he won against overwhelming odds, and became somewhat of a meme within his fanbase. However, after Techno revealed he was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2021, the line became somewhat of a rallying cry used by his fans to announce their support for him. Even after he died from the cancer in 2022, the phrase continues to be used as a way to signify that his memory will live on.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Can also be Harsher in Hindsight and Heartwarming in Hindsight, depending on your feelings. Techno has stated that he really liked Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. A few weeks after his passing, Chapter 270 of the manga did a Minecraft parody.
  • Junk Rare: After winning the Potato War, the admins gifted him with the Potato Crown, an exclusive item that gives you 1% extra speed.
  • Loot Drama: When Technoblade was fighting the Magma Boss for the Ember Rod, many people showed up, hoping to collect it first when the boss was killed. Techno died at the last second, but came back and used Ender Pearls to teleport him closer to the Magma Boss, who was killed just in time for him to swoop in with an Ender Pearl and teleport to the Ember Rod before anybody else could.
  • Memetic Badass: Techno himself was considered The Dreaded by many other players, with streamers being recorded screaming and running in terror upon seeing him in Hunger Games competitions and his massive, massive win-streaks and crazy Xanatos Gambits. After he revealed he'd been diagnosed with cancer, a lot of people even joked about how cancer picked the wrong person to PVP; those jokes, for the most part, ultimately did not age well, sadly.
  • Memetic Psychopath: Related to the above, he was also well-known for his intense hatred of orphans, casual threats of (in-game) violence which he could damn well make good on, and the creepy, obsessive lengths he had gone to win competitions. "Blood for the Blood God" is a catchphrase of his fans for a reason.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Technoblade's gasp when something good happens.
  • Tear Jerker: All of "So long nerds". To be concise, the poor guy lost his battle against cancer and died in June 2022. His father begins by reading a pre-written goodbye letter from the lad which began by stating that if they're reading this... he's deceased. The rest of the video is him posthumously thanking his viewers and bidding them goodbye, with his dad also starting to become more broken throughout this sombre video as he continues explaining Technoblade's life and legacy. The final moments of this video is Techno's mom's words for her son...
    • After his passing, Technoblade's father and Dream did a stream honoring Techno's memory which consisted of the two sharing memories and stories about him. The result is Mood Whiplash as the two bounce between laughing at funny tales of his antics and visible grief of his loss.
Techno's Father: (on the noise of Techno streaming in the other room) It was the most annoying sound in the world when it was there, and the most heartbreaking when it stopped.
