YMMV / Supergirl (2015) S5E9 "Crisis on Infinite Earths: Hour One"

Go To

  • Like You Would Really Do It:
    • Let's just say that basically no one buys Oliver's death at this episode's end, as it felt too quick for the man who made the Arrowverse possible. As such, they believe he will return in the penultimate Arrow episode of this crossover, or in the final Legends of Tomorrow episode.
    • Considering Titans has been greenlit for a third season and several seasonal plotlines of Supergirl would be unceremoniously dropped midway through, we can rest assured that at least Earth-9 and Earth-38 are not gone in as sudden and permanent a way as it is implied. With regards to Earth-38, it was later merged with Earth-1 and the Black Lightning (2018)-verse, meaning it may be physically gone, but it survives as part of Earth-Prime. As for Earth-9, it was definitely going to remain separate because there are no Earths that it could be merged with that make sense and could fundamentally change it; in particular, it can't be merged with Earth-1 because Titans' backstory is fundamentally incompatible with that of Batwoman.
    • The supposed deaths of Superman and Lois Lane early in the episode. On the one hand, killing such iconic characters would be an excellent way to show just how serious the situation is, but on the other hand, it's already been confirmed that a spin-off of Supergirl starring Superman and Lois Lane is in the works. Not to mention that the characters were seen in trailers for Crisis past their initial appearance at Argo City. Sure enough, the two are quickly revealed to have been rescued by Harbinger.
  • Narm: The History Repeats scene in which Superman & Lois Lane send their baby Jonathan Kent into a space pod that is only meant to carry the child alone. Even Kevin Smith was cracking a lot of jokes about it during the aftermath party special that aired after the episode about Kryptonians' tendencies to send their babies into space by themselves and all the Fridge Logic that went with it.
  • Shocking Moments: Oliver was straight-up told of his death during the seventh season finale of his show, but no one was expecting him to bite it in the first episode of the crossover.
