• Awesome Music: A lot of the music reused from other sources give the games a grand sense of scale, despite it being a series of sprite animated turn-based RPG fights.
  • The most iconic piece of music associated with the series, to the point of being arguably a Bootstrapped Theme, would be "Welcome to the Darkness" from Chaos Legion. This is the theme heard during Episode 8 when Sonic and Shadow confront Seelkadoom, as well as the theme that plays for Apex Seelkadoom during the third phase's second half in Episode 10.
  • The final stage of the game and "fight" against Apex Seelkadoom in Episode 10 is accompanied by "The Apex of the World (Thunder)" from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which serves as a frantic but climactic last struggle against Apex Seelkadoom, where the player must clear a series of QTEs in order to distract him long enough for Knuckles to recite the Master Emerald's chant and defeat Seelkadoom once and for all. Its usage makes the moment sound like it's truly All or Nothing at this point.
• Difficulty Spike: Episode 6 is reported to be the hardest episode in the entire series. While Mecha Sonic isn't that difficult of a fight, Dr. Eggman is the definite show stopper, thanks to his Master Emerald-empowered attacks doing a disproportionally large amount of damage while Tails has pathetically small resources required to put him down. It's not uncommon to find yourself near-death and lacking the MP needed to defend yourself from the next big blast.
• Evil Is Cool: Seelkadoom is a rather popular antagonist, despite only appearing in this series, mainly for his abilities, his challenging boss battles in the later episodes, and his overwhelming power that keeps Sonic and Shadow on the backfoot.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: The idea of non-final bosses being strong enough to challenge Super Sonic would become canon with the Titans of Sonic Frontiers.
• Recurring Fanon Character: Possibly on the same level as Nazo, Seelkadoom is a frequent character that fans love to mod into to games or make animations about, mainly due to him just being a powerful and evil villain. His super form, Apex Seelkadoom, also gets the same treatment, despite being on-screen for a very short amount of time.
• Retroactive Recognition: Sonic, Knuckles, and Eggman's voice actor, starting from Episode 9, is TomSTheVoice, aka. Tom Schalk. This was before his breakout popularity in popular Internet-based productions such as his meme reads, Return to Krocodile Isle, and appearances in productions by Team Four Star.
• Song Association: Many likely only heard of Chaos Legion and its first level theme, "Welcome to the Darkness", thanks to this game, where it is usually treated as Seelkadoom's theme. This is strengthened by after appearing once in Episode 8 during the boss battle between Sonic, Shadow and Seelkadoom, it plays a second time during Episode 10, during the third stage and second half of Apex Seelkadoom's fight. It's hard to come across a video of Chaos Legion's OST without someone mentioning Sonic RPG.
