• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The two other Sonic figures, one pushing Tails down before vanishing and the other laughing at him, that appear at the end of Green Hill Zone if you try to proceed after EYX runs back to the start of the level. They don’t seem related to EYX, there’s no names given to them, and they only show up in smaller Easter eggs.
• Breather Level: Crystal Lake Zone is a peaceful and happy level with stunning scenery, and serves as the game's main original stage. And with Sonic being the playable character, it almost feels like you're actually playing a regular Sonic fan game. It especially helps that the music is taken from Shining Force II, helping with the tranquility of the environment. However, the game won't let you forget its true intentions at any cost.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • After Sonic's death scene (Already nightmarish on its own), this scene starts happening: You are thrown into a dark forest area with barely any lighting and no music playing, with Sonic inexplicably alive, except that he lacks pupils and has No Mouth. Eventually, without warning, Sonic stops in his tracks, and stares at the camera for a few seconds. Then he jumps off screen. And then he suddenly pops up much closer to the screen, now with Black Eyes of Evil and a Slasher Smile, allthewhile horrifying screaming plays, revealing that the blue hedgehog you were controlling during the sequence wasn't Sonic at all.
  • EYX in his true form. The original EXE was simply a Classic Sonic with black and red eyes, and the various redesigns and reinterpretations of the character range from simple edits of that, to completely over-the-top monster designs that can become a little hard to take seriously. EYX on the other hand, is simply wrong in every sense of the word; his lanky proportions, cultish marks carved into his body and a single, staring eyeball bulging out of his face make him come across as a horrific parody of Sonic over merely assuming his form.
    • Its Tails form (CYN) is also as unsettling, in addition to its fur becoming grey like Tails, it also has the same markings on its chest like EYX and its arms appear to be skinned, not to mention its creepy Slasher Smile. The actual Tails has his head reduced to a skull, burned off by EYX itself.
    • A redesign for CYN makes its design even more unsettling, with arms that look burned up, and more tails than Tails himself would have.
    • Knuckles also joins in on the horror, by giving you a What the Hell, Player? speech, all the while blood starts leak out of his eyes as they turn into black orbs before saying that EYX is coming for you.
• Nightmare Retardant: When EYX changes his appearance to be more like his true form when telling the player to meet him at the beginning of Green Hill, his goofily quick pointing finger movement can ruin the horror at least a bit.
