YMMV / Reelism

Go To

  • Demonic Spiders: Reelism is not an easy game, but three of the enemy slots in particular can tear even an experienced player to shreds:
    • The flame-throwing Strife robots from the "They Were Robots" spawn can kill even a player at full health with just one shot of their flame. Worse, in the more demanding maps (like Reel Stadium) they will tank the framerate of even the most powerful computers.
    • The Revenants from the "OH FUCK, SKELETONS" spawn are just as powerful as their Doom II incarnations and even more numerous. Thankfully they don't appear in the Reelism 2 version of the reel... They can however be spawned by the Jackpot Dice!
    • The Blood cultists from "Crudux Cruo", fittingly enough. They have grenades, energy weapons, and machine guns, and a direct hit from the former usually results in death. They're hard to see and hard to hit. On the bright side, they're so grenade-happy that they'll usually take out other enemies with them.
  • Goddamn Bats: The Wolfenstein3D dogs and Doom soldiers are threatening due to sheer numbers (and hitscan in the case of the latter), chipping your HP like a thousand papercuts. The dogs also crowd around you, leaving you unable to move without the right weapon or powerup.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: One Running Gag is the complete absence of Dracula after the Castlevania-inspired Creature of Chaos map was added in the first game, starting with a gravestone in said map poking fun at his exclusion. Fast forward to 2022 with the release of the Castlevania-inspired horde survival game Vampire Survivors... which also features no vampires in-game either.
  • Power-Up Letdown: "HYPERPOWER" spawns powerful variants of normal weapons. "Dog Mode" lets you destroy dozens of enemies in a single bark. Combine the two slots, and your bark instead spawns 5 dogs that attack enemies for you. 5 ordinary, weak, frail dogs.
    • Note that "HYPERPOWER" + "My Tank Is Fight" averts this. It is everything the word "hyperpowered tank" promises and more.
  • That One Boss: Ms. THE JERK. Most bosses can be handled by circle-strafing; try that with her and she will lunge at you, killing you in a single hit. Even The Shapeshifter's difficulty comes almost entirely from his ability to transform into her.
