- Adaptation Displacement: The book was a blockbuster bestseller when it was published—one of those things you had to read to know what everyone else was talking about. It's still considered an important work in literary circles, but the film has insured that unless you're Harold Bloom, you probably know about the film, not the novel.
- Designated Hero: Assuming they're not villain protagonists, Myra and Leticia all around. A sex maniac and her egocentric Hollywood friend who use their beauty and their jobs within the industry to turn men into their sexual thralls. Myra in particular is even worse, as even when her targets start to resist she is willing to continue on pushing anyway and resort to rape to get what she wants. She also got her job by lying to her uncle that said former male identity was her late husband in order to blackmail money out of him.
- Protection from Editors: Somehow, Michael Sarne was able to get this despite only having up to that point directed a single film, which had only been released in the UK. It predictably led to disaster when Sarne by all accounts deliberately set out to make a terrible film, with his motives for doing so variously described as him disliking the source material, trying to get revenge on the studio for not giving him total control of casting, and/or wanting to produce some kind of counter-culture statement.
- Questionable Casting: Dubbing example. The Latin American Spanish dub of the film has Raquel Welch (who was around 30 at the time of filming) being dubbed by an actress who sounds much older than her, while Mae West (who was around 77 at the time of filming) in contrast is dubbed by an actress who sounds much younger than her.note Why each one wasn't given the other's voice actress is anyone's guess. Some comments note that given the film's high amounts of camp/kitsch, this casting decision only serves to enhance it.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Pre-Charlie's Angels Farrah Fawcett as Mary Ann.
- A mustache-less Tom Selleck also appears as one of Leticia Van Allen's studs.
- Signature Scene: Raquel Welch in a star-spangled bikini and cowboy hat raping a man with a strap-on sticks out quite a bit.
