YMMV / May Bukas Pa

Go To

  • Anvilicious: To say that the show is peppered with faith based moral lessons is just scratching the surface. The show is full of itatheism is bad; having faith in God will make you a better person, and so on.
  • Creator's Pet: The show had a rare case of the main character being the Creator's Pet. Santino is a good kid with healing powers and Incorruptible Pure Pureness who changes the lives of everyone around him. But later story arcs showed him getting involved in increasingly improbable situations. He averted a civil war by getting himself shot (Don't ask how how that happened), saved the town from the 10 plagues of Egypt, gotten kidnapped by Communist rebels and testified in a Congressional hearing involving corruption in government. When he dies, all the people who met him (a veritable All-Star Cast) mourn him but he comes Back from the Dead because the Virgin Mary (played by Charo Santos-Concio, who also happened to be the ABS-CBN president during that time) said it wasn't his time yet. And at six years old, he's racked up a rogues gallery with a size that rivals Batman, one of whom is the town mayor who is also his father. And everyone there always asks, "Where is Santino?"
  • Older Than They Think: People thought that this is ABS-CBN/Dreamscape Entertainment first family-oriented series released on odd number of years as the trailers of the series belonging to this category following the release of May Bukas Pa first state the said show, but actually the trend was started in May 9, 2005 with the release of Mga Anghel na Walang Langit featuring the original Goin Bulilit members (Miles Ocampo, Carl John Barrameda, Sharlene San Pedro, John Manalo, and Nikki Bagaporo). Thus May Bukas Pa is the third show in the lineup after 2005-2006's Mga Anghel na Walang Langit and 2007's Princess Sarah.
    • It is also thought that this is the network's first religious/miracle-oriented/related teleserye in the lineup of family-oriented teleseryes of Dreamscape Entertainment that were released on odd number of years but actually the first religious/miracle-oriented/related teleserye in the lineup is 2005-2006's Mga Anghel na Walang Langit. Thus May Bukas Pa is the second religious/miracle-oriented/related teleserye after Mga Anghel na Walang Langit and it was followed by Nathaniel in 2015 and Huwag Kang Mangamba (one of the spiritual successor of May Bukas Pa along with Dahil sa Pag-Ibig) in 2021. From the release of May Bukas Pa in February 2, 2009, it turns out that every 6 years within the lineup is a new religious/miracle-oriented/related telserye.
    • Although May Bukas Pa is the first teleserye in the lineup to feature an entirely new child star as its protagonist which is Zaijian Jaranilla who also became a Goin Bulilit member but he left the show later without graduating. The said actor plays as Santino Guillermo/Gabriel Policarpio who serves as the show's protagonist.
      • There are also religious/miracle-oriented/related teleseryes of Dreamscape that were released between the finale episode of May Bukas Pa (February 5, 2010) and pilot episode of Nathaniel (April 24, 2015) which are the teleserye that replaced this series which is Agua Bendita (February 8-September 3, 2010), 100 Days to Heaven and Ikaw ay Pag-ibig (May 9, 2011-January 27, 2012), Dahil sa Pag-Ibig (March 12-June 29, 2012), and Juan dela Cruz (February 4-October 25, 2013).
  • Spiritual Successor: May Bukas Pa serves as spiritual successor to 2005-2006's Mga Anghel na Walang Langit as the series also has religious/miracle-oriented concepts, as well as some casts of said latter series are also in the series, such as Johnny Delgado and Carl John Barrameda.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: Its titular theme song (May Bukas Pa by Kyle Balili) has some musical similarities with "Mga Anghel na Walang Langit", a theme song of another ABS-CBN/Dreamscape Entertainment family-oriented series of the same name that was aired from May 9, 2005 to February 24, 2006 which is 3-4 years before the premiere of May Bukas Pa on February 2, 2009.
