- Harsher in Hindsight
- Uncle managing to subject Phobos to a Curb-Stomp Battle becomes a lot harsher fourteen months later when, Guardians, Wizards, and Kung-Fu Fighters, this fic's inspiration, released a chapter in which Phobos kills Uncle.
- Chapter 13 of Season 2 pretty much becomes this in light of the sinking of the Titan submersible merely four days after the publishing of Chapter 12. The author acknowledged this on DeviantArt, stating that he planned the chapter before the sinking took place.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- One of the biggest twists of Guardians, Wizards, and Kung-Fu Fighters has Cornelia's father be a member of a secret conspiracy that has to do with the overall conflict, especially regarding magic. Cornelia's family doesn't play that much of a role in J-WITCH except for maybe Lilian and thus don't do much for the plot. The kicker comes in with Iron117Prime's next fic: A Red Rose in the Blue Wind. That fic introduces the readers to Weiss Schnee, the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company whose treatment of Faunus causes the White Fang to erupt. And to make matters worse, Dr. Eggman, one-half of the Big Bads, utilizes this Faunus dissent to foster his own goals. That's not to mention how anyone familiar with RWBY canon would know about the harsh nature of Jacques Schnee, Weiss' father. In a sense, Iron117Prime took the Hale family drama of the fic's inspiration and transplanted it into his next published fic.
- The series' title, J-WITCH, sounds a bit similar to "G-Witch", the Fan Nickname of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Even further, while it doesn't take elements from this fic in general, the show manages to make a lot of things in Iron117Prime's other fic age rather well.
- Ho Yay: Jade has a special bond with Will. When the latter tries to free the former from her Queen of the Shadowkhan persona, the desperate speech she gives about how much Jade means to her comes close to sounding like an Anguished Declaration of Love.
- Spiritual Adaptation: With the large amount of MacGuffin hunts and the overarching conflict spanning generations, and the main protagonists being magical girls and martial artists, one wouldn't be surprised if Iron117Prime is doing his own take on Cardcaptor Sakura.
